No, guys, this is her voice, and all she sang was her, this was discussed and debated million times, until a documentary was made, it was kind of, they looked for her and gave her the notes, and she was "What? You want me to sing THAT?" She said herself. After (I don'z know how long) practice and god knows how many repeats of the scene she sang it, and that's a fact.
If you can hear it, I'm not a musician or anything I just enjoy music, at 4:14 when the synth begins to meld her voice. I have to say it was a wonderful effect. I'm sure the reason why Luc Besson wanted to add the vocal changes was because this is a SciFi movie, it needed an otherworldy feeling to it. Wonderful movie and a great director. If you enjoyed this movie wathc Leon: The Professional.
The IMDB comments say the voice is done by a particular singer, but the notes in parts change too fast for human. So she sang them, but they were edited digitally so they'd go as fast as the director wanted.
i think luc beeson went for synth because the diva obviously not a human. so she has more ability than humans, vocally, and storing some weird ancient stones inside her belly.
This is not her original voice, whoever sung this, I am not going to say I am absolutley sure because "never say never" but some parts definitley didnt sound human
I´m a music producer and singer. This is clearly a mix of a synth and a human voice. You can hear that very easily, at least musicians and singers will. Which doesn´t mean that she actually did not hit the high notes. She probably did but Luc Besson wanted to add some "groove" or synth elements to it to make it more ethereal.
The pitches during the dance arc are maddening... the fact someone can in a way play with their voice like that. She must have been training for decades at least
Yes and no. The diva was played onscreen by french actress Maïwenn Le Besco though the song was performed by opera soprano Inva Mula-Tchako so it is not her singing. However, contrary to popular rumour, Mula did sing the entire song; her voice was not digitally altered to get the more extreme vocalizations.
Definately the highlight of the movie and an absolutely excellent song, She has an amazing voice. I have to say, My favorite part is when Leeloo kicks the one Mangalor (probably butchered that) in the face and the one waiting raises an eye..ridge. I don't know why but I find his expression funny
mmmmm well I download the song by Ares and the singer that is creditted was Sara Brigthman, maybe the song this an error or maybe Inva mula made the other version, I dont know,
There's no artificial effects. Check the wikipedia entry on the 5th Element. A section in the middle explains it. I suspect they may have pasted a couple notes together during the Diva Dance part, but it's definitely all her voice.
Actually, the only part I was refering to was 04:23 to 04:26, where the intonation seem very abrubt :) I never doubted the hights of the tunes ^^ But one couldn't tell in my previous comment :) Thanks for the hint.
first of all, wikipedia as we all known, cannot be used as a 'be all end all' reference. secondly, if you think the descending triplet at 4:17 and the sequence between 4:23 and 4:25 are human voice, then you are indeed smoking some very highly refined crack. if that isnt a synth, i will eat my hat.
this is my favorite movie in the world. this scene was amazing, i just feel a bit low since that's not her actually singing. oh well, who the fuck cares. :) still sounds great

the one who sings this song is absolutely amazing... those "jumps" (between the higher and deeper tones) are REALLY hard...
one goal of my life is to be as good as this singer...
