Everybody here is talking crap... Let's look at the costs. M3 expensive, S60 cheaper! Although the M3 wins in the end... it doesn't win with more than a carlenght! Is that worth thousands of extra dollars. Seems to me your better of buying a Volvo. M3 is more pretty, more noisy, more everything, but the Volvo has the overal package. Compared to the Volvo the Beamer is all show, but not enough go!
brutal assrape on the hyped volvo.thats what you get fucking with a stock m3, now imaging the m3 is chipped or modded like your shitty volvo,it'd have been a different story uhh?
This volvo has a B5244 T5 engine. A kkk 24 turbo charger from stock. I dont believe that a 850 stage 1 with a 15-16T (turbo = 15T, T5R= 16T) turbocharger would be anywhere near beating the M3 from rolling start 50km/h :)
thats true jocket5 but only when we talk about "light tuning" with exhaust, chip etc.
The old 2.3 T5 are actully more safe to tune over 500 hp because the walls between the cylinders are much thicker than on the 2.5 R engine for example. I know some guys in germany that switched a perfectly working engine in an S60 R for an refined and tuned 2.3 T5 engine.
But I think that the 2.4 T5 has also a very great potential because it has the stronger engine components from the R (reinforced parts)
When you have a 2.4 T5 (S60 and V70 mj 2005-early 2007) and change: downpipe, catback exhaust, bigger injectors, alloy intercooler, custom intake with additional ram air (vents at V shaped engine hood) and custom chiptuning you can get easily about 350-360 wheel! horse power and 450-500 NM. I would not go over 450 NM though because the gearbox reaches its limits.
The 2.4 T5 is safe to be tuned to 400 hp with all the reinforced engine parts.
that is one slow arse S60, my 850 T5 eats M3's for breakfast and it only produces 280 bhp. However, it does produce over 370nm of torque which BMW drivers often forget to consider ;)
So you eat a M3 with your 850 that has roughly 60bhp less than the beemer? Interesting... I've raced several 850 T5 with up to 320bhp and none of them had a chance against the s60 t5 in the movie..
Mid-range power is about torque not just bhp. Off the mark the M3 is faster to 50mph every time, but from a rolling start the M3 can't match the torque of a tuned T5. I have indeed beaten E36 and E46 M3's. I've never come up against an S60 (yet) but I would be very suprised if yours was producing anywhere near 325bhp. You don't have to believe me if you don't want to, just ask any Volvo tuner and they will say the same. Besides I've no reason to lie to you, I love BMW especially the M3.
Well I have horrible experience with my S60 T5 in the snow because I have Z rated tires on it. I was too lazy to change them so even on a centimeter of snow, the car was sliding. If I had winter tires, it would be very easy with the STC on. The S60 has a great traction control that works great if you have the right tires for the conditions. You have to admit though that the S60 is more practical than the M3.
and you my friend are very ignorant, if you gonna go through life thinking a simple ecu upgrade is going to outpace only the worlds highest revving straightsix motor...i own a T5, please belive me when i tell u its no M3 killer, unless..you: replace big ends & mains, balance crank, forge its conrods, new HKS competition pistons; chamber upgrade; re-do the head, T6/7 blower, full pressure regulator; increase spark, throw in a wet shot nitro, ecu upgrade & u've build ur self a racer...
Hahaha, nice one guys, a chipped M3 and the Volovo gets that close...we all know the M3 wacks the fastest VolVo S60 R?? when it is standard, now you tell me that a standard S60 t5 is gonna stay that close to a modified M3?? maybe some ignorant kid will believe that!! a s60 T5 is no more powerful than a S40 T5...the S60 is tuned...and i mean tuned not chipped. that M3 is probably standard
As stated in the headline - the M3 should be stock and the s60 T5 ecu-tuned. The injectors are also upgraded on the s60 but the exchaust and everything else is stock. The s60 t5 from 2005 and onwards have more or less the same engine as the s60r, except for some minor differences.

plus it can it has the better KKK turbocharger.

Instead of do all this in your volvo, why you don't buy one bmw 335 with prelude?

well, it did suprisingly good, the injectors does make a huge difference, i own a s40 T5, iam a fan of these swedish beauties too my friend

the s60 and s60r are different. the r have twin intercoolers and other mods (this is why have 300hp stock)
cubanomx2 3 years ago
the R has a 2.5 5 cylinder engine
the t5 has a 2.3 5 cylinder engine
the R also has a larger turbo, and rungs higher boost
magicaljake 3 years ago
wrong. the t5 is 2.5L 5cyl engine. same on s60r...only the s60r have twin intercoolers and high pressure turbo.
cubanomx2 3 years ago
you are so wrong! Do your homework:
S60R awd : dis (cm³) 2521 T5 B5254
s60 t5 : dis (cm³)2401 T5 B5244
allvetarN2 2 years ago
No No No! the B5254 was used in Volvo 850 and old V70's!!!

no. your wrong
do some research.
volvo has been using there 2.3 5 cylinder 20v in the t5 sence 94.
they specifically built the 2.5 in the s60r for the s60r.
and honestly the 2.3 has much more potential.
and dont' call me out on being wrong unless your sure.
magicaljake 2 years ago
S60 is a 2.3L 5
djleito 2 years ago
You really dont know anything about ECU uppgrades and chipped cars?
Come on dude. The price of tuning and chipping a T5 so i can beat the shit of the m3 is about 1500 euros.
But stock the m3 kills most opponents
