I do not have OCD but I am a very hypochondriac, I am germaphobic, I have a tendency to arrange things, I am afraid of getting diseases. I panic when something isn´t on time, I always count my steps, stepping on a shadow feels bad, I always walk in patterns of three.
People do not talk to me because they think I am strange. I walk alone in school counting my steps, last time I spoke was with my teacher 1 week ago.
@Verification11 I know this kid with scrupulosity. He thinks whatever he says offends someone so he constantly apologizes and thinks he's being immoral.
yes I have OCD too. It's so difficult. I have to wash my hands with liquid hand soap after every meal and have to take a shower every morning. The worst is brushing my teeth. Believe it or not I have to brush my teeth with lots of tooth paste at least 2 to 3 times every day. Oh my god. I'm going to therapy soon.
i use to have this with numbers and my bathroom had to be a certain way like tooth paste on right tooth brush on left it was weird and corners to i couldnt walk on them idk
im 11, and in 4th and 5th grade, i had ocd with cleanlines, i had to take a shower every singal day, 2 times on a school day, before and after, my skin got ichy from taking one every day, im over it now, they were gonna put me on a medication for it, but they didnt because i realized i can live witout a shower every day, its normal for kids like me, but an adult with it, realy needs help.
@arholloway99 Sir, or madam idk you do not have OCD, you have a cleanliness disorder similar to germaphobics therefore don't run around screaming you have OCD. OCD is like me opening the fridge 3 times a night so the fridge isn't too cold in the morning...That 11 degrees extra kills me, and making sure my clothes are ordered by color alphabetically....OCD is serious, and no self-curing like you speak of isn't possible without support. Don't think that adults and children with it are different...

@TrollOfTheSkies Your comment is so old, you probably wont see my reply, but: I agree. I used to go through the same rituals before I put my OCD in remission. It's more about turning the soap over 5 or 7 times, but NEVER 6 TIMES!! 6 is a bad number the same way 13 is a bad number !! NEVER leave that nasty, gooey part of the soap face up. Turn it over in the middle of the night to prevent that. Also, the soap has to be straight and level with the edge of the sink.
@TrollOfTheSkies I have it as well, yes it is a pain, and it kills me every time I notice myself doing something that I can't stop it feels terrible. However, hating people who are trying to understand is your first problem. Every time I walk through a door I tap the sides with both hands twice, and I am a germaphobe, which is horrible when I walk through a door outside, because I have to put on gloves.....So, if you want to hate people trying to understand the less you fight, the less you worry
@TrollOfTheSkies why don't you walk away from the obsession when its active and distract your attention to something else much more important.. deal with the anxiety and eventually you will learn to overcome it.

I have OCD but it sounds like you may have tourettes syndrome which is similar in someways I'm not a doctor or anything but I suggest you get some tests done :) these things could be compulsions from OCD or tics from tourettes :) hope this helped
i dont know whats wrong with me, i think its OCD because i have a sudden earch to flex my arms, then my sholders, then twist them, then i have to twitch my hands untill i feel like i can stop, its really hard not to but ive had it for about 2 years now and its very un confterble, can someone plz tell me whats up???
I really dont like now that i have a new idea for OCD. Hand washing and locks. Thanks -_- now it will haunt me forever and i have nothing to do about it. If you have OCD don't watch these Youtube videos about OCD. It will give you ideas, like me.
That's how I am. A minor problem creates a domino effect in my brain which results in my envisioning all these worst case scenarios: Car's making a noise, what if it breaks down, what if I can't go to work and get fired, what if I get fired and get cancer and then I have no health insurance, and on and on. Lol
Does anyone else find that your OCD goes past simple repetitions, and into complex mathematical glitches while you do the repetitions?
For example, not just pressing a light switch *back on* a given number of times, but that it has to be done in time with something else in your surroundings, or your mind?
@ronniegranillo Even if I hadn't (which I did because its impossible not to when you click on a video) its obvious that he has OCD...but even people with OCD have some sort of twisted logic behind their actions.
Oh shoot... I apologize. I left the computer on, on my log in, so my brother must have looked up "OCD" to find out what is was after watching Monk. I'm very sorry about that, But about this topic, It is pretty sad, and a lot of people do have another logic behind it.
What's funnier than the clip is the fact that 90% of the people who commented on this video claim to actually have OCD, just because they experienced one or two "symptoms".
i always wash my hands when i get home to get rid of the world b4 touchin everything... but that's it... except i also have Asia Argento waiting right here, who then immediately rapes me... for hours... and hours... without end... my hands are clean, i'm happy and now it's time for Asia 'n me to play Twister... i usually let her win.
I really don't like being touched. not only because of the germs( which is a big part) but I just don't like the feel. even friends and family think it is funny to see my reactions by touching me. I try to laugh it off but it is getting really hard. no one takes me seriously! anyone have advice?
@TheDingBat47 It depends, it's different for different people. There are four categories for OCD: Counting, checking, cleaning, and avoidance. As you can see, cleaning is one of them, so for people you know with OCD, it may be something else, but here, evidently it is cleaning.
@TheDingBat47 Tell me about, mine is that I have to rewind a movie with subtitles if I don't fully finish reading the subtitle lines. Another is that I have to "fix" my eyebrows over the fear of not having them groomed. -_-
let's face it we all got ocd to a certain extent but this takes the biscuit....is fookin hilarious hahaha...i was thinkin he wud go out next day n replace his bathroom mirror just in case hehe ;-)
glic7236 u r fuckin mad, im not bein closed minded, ignorant etc......ur fuckin mad. get a grip, 'pointless rituals' is wot people lyk u complain about - ven stop. if ray charles can gain va sense 2 stop wot he was doing 4 howeva many years - ven so can u
@SagaciousSilence You don't know me, but trust what I'm saying for the sake of it. I have dibilitating OCD, and refuse to do what Nicolson's doing.Forget the hot water and make an outroad on this with cold. IT'S ALL THE SAME.
@antiScientoligist ive got to the point it killed me 3 times kidny faliure my life is hell ive suffered 4 35 yrs now in therpoy 9 yrs 15,000 mgs meds poer day
@antiScientoligist , A HA HA HA HA HA HA!OMG, u know your OCDs well!!!U made me lough exactly 14 ha!ha!s (nah....lost counting while I was blinking my eyes for 12 times)
@antiScientoligist I don't really believe in the html is working proper like... I always click a bunch... oh well
I really don't believe in the majority of american ocd case study... I would have been really bad had I not enlisted in the armed services out of high school and I'm 100% functional... people might argue jack nicholson's character is... I would say no... extra ordinary extreme theatrical case study.
i hate how OCD is always depicted as counting i have Pure OCD i have no discernible rituals or counting and it's hell. it is certainly not a quasi-comical aspect of my life that i am comfortable with.
@glic7236 I have had CBT and it has helped massively but i'm dealing with PTSD and Pure OCD so between the therapy and my medication i've improved but i doubt i'll ever be completely cured.
Well, I wasn't saying that it would go completely away. I'm not sure there is anybody in the world who is anxiety free. Everybody seems to have certain things that trigger anxiety. However, as you say, you are a changed person because of the therapy and can live a normal life. Just curious, did the traumatic event trigger the OCD or did you have it before? And may I ask what the trauma was?
@glic7236 there's a likely hood i would suffer from elevated anxiety but the trauma did trigger the OCD. i was abused as a child and my therapist said that there is evidence that early trauma can cause brain damage.
This is the very typical OCD behaviour that is always glamourised on television and heavily publicised. Its usually 'advertised' as being completely illogical (such as here) but some OCD behaviours can have some degree of normality to them.
The disorder isnt funny. But have to admit that the rituals kinda are. For people watching at least. I personally dont care about germs but have most of the other smptomes shown in the movie.
I don't quiet think I have OCD, but germs/bacteria make me very nervous. I have to swim in gym in about a month. I am really scared because pools are invested with bacteria. even the thought of swimming makes me sick. sometimes it makes me cry. what do I do?!?!?!
Well obviously Jack Nicholson doesn't know anything about OCD. Washing your hands several times is not something that you can be relaxed with. You should concentrate on it Mr. Nicholson, you should reflect a great misery in your face, not like having fun with it.
The door thing is really simelar to my OCD. I dont flick lights on and off tho, I check that there definatly off like 12 times tho. I dont flick them cos im scared they might explode.. (seriously)
She must always begin clockwise and if she remembers to rotate only the magic seven, a wish will come true, but woe betide her should she accidentally rotate on an unlucky thirteen! Now THAT would be one heck of an autistic obsessive-compulsive ADHD bipolar pup!! Perhaps just for fun I’ll put on my cat ears and tail and do it for her, just not too often lest it should become a habit.
It’s similar to her own round and round the garden circles, but with more subtleties. She should circle the entire garden as many times as she can, with her usual dolphin jump at the North and South ends, but for the East she should halt and chase her tail six times counter-clockwise with the magic seven rotating into a single spin clockwise, and for the West she chases tail six times clockwise and the magic seven anti-clockwise.
The dog gets all worked up over lights and shadows and a rise or emphasis in the voice, and she has a bizarre ritual of running round and round the garden in circles, particularly if somebody else goes outside, filling in the occasional dolphin-like running jump. She insists that everybody stays close together when we go for a walk, yet despite being a sheep dog she’s scared of sheep and cows! I wish I could get her to perform a ritual I’ve made up for the morning and evening.
I have a friend and a boarder collie with OCD. The human is a flapper that yowls and yelps 'EOHW' a lot, shrilly as 'a puppy or kitten being trodden on', as her daughter so rudely puts it. She'll avoid taking a day off as much as she can help, unless travelling away for a sunny holiday, even though working makes her stressed, and is scared of mice and rats.
My own family likened this to my personal situation. I keep multiple boxes of new soaps; but they can't accept the fact that I use a new one each time.
at first i didnt think it was so bad. lots os people dont like being touched. but it makes me miserable because everything touches me. or so it feels that way. even seeing things touch annoy me. now i am terrified to go anywhere. i might get touched by someone who is sick, now giving me some incuriable disease.
If you don't search for and watch "sleep with a jellyfish", then someone will come at your door in 10 minutes, and kill you. The dude has striped pajamas. Send this on 4 other videos, or he'll also eat you.
I am trying to figure out of I have OCD. everytime someone touches me I have to touch that same spot. sometime I touch the same spot if an object touches me and sometimes even if I touch myself. also the constant thoughts keep me from sleeping. what do you think?
I think everyone has a tendency to be compulsive in varying degrees. So how would I battle OCD? I'm lazy so when I start to get urges of "Hey, I think I should turn off all the lights in the house." I go, "F it they'll burn themselves out."
@cant99touch99this not all ocd is a fear of contamination. A lot of others are fears of deaths or other catastrophes. Their brain's are misfiring and telling them that if they don't do the compulsion, that certain thing would happen. No one can really understand it but them. it is because of a chemical imbalance in the brain
I like cheese. And I like drinking cola/juice/tea during with bread. The problem is if they don't end at the same time simultaneously, I have to refresh the missing ingredient and continue eating. I think this is as good as it gets for my OCD.
PS. Good thing my synchronization skills are high. :P
Please check out my channel. I used to suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, ocd and agarophobia. I no longer suffer or go through any of it. I have my testimony on how I overcame it all in "my uploads" section on my channel. Please see it...you can be saved from it with no meds, no paying for any "techinique" or paying for anything. i always wash my hands when i get home to get rid of the world b4 touchin everything... but that's it... except i also have Asia Argento waiting right here, who then immediately rapes me... for hours... and hours... without end... my hands are clean, i'm happy and now it's time for Asia 'n me to play Twister... i usually let her win.
RamaRendezvoo 9 months ago
I really don't like being touched. not only because of the germs( which is a big part) but I just don't like the feel. even friends and family think it is funny to see my reactions by touching me. I try to laugh it off but it is getting really hard. no one takes me seriously! anyone have advice?

@TheDingBat47 It depends, it's different for different people. There are four categories for OCD: Counting, checking, cleaning, and avoidance. As you can see, cleaning is one of them, so for people you know with OCD, it may be something else, but here, evidently it is cleaning.
camillaroseg 7 months ago
@camillaroseg--I think there are more categories than that..Just sayin'... :P
pikafantwo 7 months ago
@pikafantwo Obviously there a subcategories and many are unique to the person, but I study Psychology, and they are the four official categories :)

@TheDingBat47 Tell me about, mine is that I have to rewind a movie with subtitles if I don't fully finish reading the subtitle lines. Another is that I have to "fix" my eyebrows over the fear of not having them groomed. -_-

Cognitive behavioral therapy has up to an 80% complete cure rate. Most anybody who has these types of problems can be free from obsession.

I really don't believe in the majority of american ocd case study... I would have been really bad had I not enlisted in the armed services out of high school and I'm 100% functional... people might argue jack nicholson's character is... I would say no... extra ordinary extreme theatrical case study.

Please see my post above. This disorder can be cured with cognitive behavioral therapy.
glic7236 10 months ago
@glic7236 I have had CBT and it has helped massively but i'm dealing with PTSD and Pure OCD so between the therapy and my medication i've improved but i doubt i'll ever be completely cured.
WhiteLionV1 10 months ago
@WhiteLionV1
And may I ask what the trauma was?
glic7236 10 months ago
@glic7236 there's a likely hood i would suffer from elevated anxiety but the trauma did trigger the OCD. i was abused as a child and my therapist said that there is evidence that early trauma can cause brain damage.

This is the very typical OCD behaviour that is always glamourised on television and heavily publicised. Its usually 'advertised' as being completely illogical (such as here) but some OCD behaviours can have some degree of normality to them.

Well obviously Jack Nicholson doesn't know anything about OCD. Washing your hands several times is not something that you can be relaxed with. You should concentrate on it Mr. Nicholson, you should reflect a great misery in your face, not like having fun with it.

Yes I realize that but this video Is Titled "As OCD as it Gets"
I realize it is a clip from a movie called "As Good as it gets" but he could have been A LOT more OCD then that.
If you mixed the stuff he did with germaphobia then he would probably truly be "as OCD as it gets"

Ilovecats112233 1 year ago
It’s similar to her own round and round the garden circles, but with more subtleties. She should circle the entire garden as many times as she can, with her usual dolphin jump at the North and South ends, but for the East she should halt and chase her tail six times counter-clockwise with the magic seven rotating into a single spin clockwise, and for the West she chases tail six times clockwise and the magic seven anti-clockwise.
Ilovecats112233 1 year ago
The dog gets all worked up over lights and shadows and a rise or emphasis in the voice, and she has a bizarre ritual of running round and round the garden in circles, particularly if somebody else goes outside, filling in the occasional dolphin-like running jump. She insists that everybody stays close together when we go for a walk, yet despite being a sheep dog she’s scared of sheep and cows! I wish I could get her to perform a ritual I’ve made up for the morning and evening.
Ilovecats112233 1 year ago
I have a friend and a boarder collie with OCD. The human is a flapper that yowls and yelps 'EOHW' a lot, shrilly as 'a puppy or kitten being trodden on', as her daughter so rudely puts it. She'll avoid taking a day off as much as she can help, unless travelling away for a sunny holiday, even though working makes her stressed, and is scared of mice and rats.
Ilovecats112233 1 year ago
My own family likened this to my personal situation. I keep multiple boxes of new soaps; but they can't accept the fact that I use a new one each time.

at first i didnt think it was so bad. lots os people dont like being touched. but it makes me miserable because everything touches me. or so it feels that way. even seeing things touch annoy me. now i am terrified to go anywhere. i might get touched by someone who is sick, now giving me some incuriable disease.

I think everyone has a tendency to be compulsive in varying degrees. So how would I battle OCD? I'm lazy so when I start to get urges of "Hey, I think I should turn off all the lights in the house." I go, "F it they'll burn themselves out."

i say the cure is lock them in the germiest room ever and feed them groosish looking food for like a week let them out and cured?...
cant99touch99this 1 year ago
@cant99touch99this not all ocd is a fear of contamination. A lot of others are fears of deaths or other catastrophes. Their brain's are misfiring and telling them that if they don't do the compulsion, that certain thing would happen. No one can really understand it but them. it is because of a chemical imbalance in the brain

I like cheese. And I like drinking cola/juice/tea during with bread. The problem is if they don't end at the same time simultaneously, I have to refresh the missing ingredient and continue eating. I think this is as good as it gets for my OCD.

I have a small amount of OCD, I can deal with *not* doing these, but I feel much better if I do them this way...
Washing my hands with burning water.
Trying to make sure many things are multiples of eight (TV volume, etc.).
I try to avoid having my different foods touch each other if they are on the same plate.
Copying either one letter/number (prefferably capitalized vowels or "0") or a space to clear my clipboard of whatever I just copy pasted.
Clearing browser history every 5-10 minutes.
