  • Up side down is stupid. Why not plant it the right way so the roots grow down. Then just hang the bucket up and let the tomato grow over the side and down.

  • This woman is WAY too bubbly.

  • *head desks* wtf are you doing. Sure you know you book smarts but . . .wtf just wtf. You could have easily put the plant in upside down first, then on of you held it while the other filled it. Jesus people.

  • I LOVE TOMATOES. TOMATOES ARE MYLIF.E. I LIVE FOR TOMATOES

  • Good clip Anne. Appreciate the info & idea. I'm in yard today getting it all together for this years Discovery Bay-CA garden. Normally my tomades are in the dirt straigt up. but this year going to do the "topsy turvey" upside down idea for fun. Thnx!

  • wow, your a honey.lol.

  • no no is GMO fuck your tomato plant!

  • I love tomatoes. They are one of my favorite fruits.

  • GMO should be illegal.

  • @techdude1876 aman to that!

  • The "soil" seems a bit heavy and water retentive. I would think the roots would rot, but then I don't know anything about the climate of that area.

  • STAY AWAY FROM THOSE UNIVERSITY GROWN GMO TOMATOES... oh you didnt know! they are gmo.. well they are!

  • HAHAH, SAMNTHA.

  • Thanks Anne, Try politician bull shit for fertilizer. Its plentiful and free. LOL.

  • nothing like a milf with green thumb

  • I want to turn Ann upside down!

  • I'm British, and i can tell you, that wont work, if you attempt to grow a tomato plant UPSIDE DOWN it will die within 2 days. You Americans are so silly. Why do you have to tamper with nature?

  • @bonnie43uk Not so . I've grown tomatoes in stuff like this here in Florida and it works but only soso. It does keep them off the ground so snails and soil born diseases are kept to a minium and both are a real problem in my area . I still do use some 5 gal buckets on tabels or hanging from hooks & let the vines go & hang over the sides or use supports depending on how large a plant the type of tomatoe seeds I use will produce .

  • @bonnie43uk hm... and British petroleum isn't tampering with nature? Hate to bring something irrelevant into this but peoples stupid American comments get on my nerves.

  • @nightsoul2003 How dare you make stupid comments about British Petroleum, our rigs are the safest in the world. You'll never hear of one blowing up, or causing a spill, and IF it did, we'd have operations in place to make sure no oil caused environmental harm, .. it would get mopped up immediatly. And we certainly dont grow our tomato's upside down.

  • You should finish filling it up with soil/potting soil and plant flowers in the top....It works great with petunias.

  • Well i'm determined to get these damn squirrles away from my plants. I put them on my fire escape and these bastards run through my shit.

  • So how did this upside-down tomato experiment turn out?

  • Thanks for the mixture. I will use this. nice presentation.

  • Roots don't grow up. Prove it if do, I have only seen one up-side-down 5 foot'er or so and the view was blocked so, I'm not absolutely sure that that is what it was.

  • well, cant tomatoes die if there upside down

  • @merock654 all the blood rushes to their head and they pass out.

  • wow !! the chick looks hot !! :)

  • I know it looks fucky, but is there any advantage of keeping the plant in that manner ? I am sure nature did not intend it that way, and it would probably yield the same amount of tomatos as if you hand had the plant upright.

  • The way to do this is:

Don't put anything in the bucket, put the plant thru leaving most of the plant in the bucket for better roots, put the moss or news paper around the bottom of the hole and fill with soil. WATER often these dry out fast, not like ground grown. I do them both ways and there is a huge difference in the watering. Then prune every week or two....

  • Plant them in the ground if you can. Container plants need to be watered daily and twice daily if its hot. This can be a real chore.

  • I hate tomato

  • CoCo93512

Tomatoes are really very very healthy, google "Tomato Health Benefits" =) you'll start liking 'em.

  • Great video!

Are the determined tomatos hybrid tomatos?

  • Determinate means they produce all their fruit at once. They can be either heirloom or hybrid depending on the plant.

  • She has great tomatoes!

  • Best video on this subject by far.

  • How does the water drain out? Does it go down the same hole the plant is in? Wouldn't that get the plant all wet?

  • ehh...leafs and new growth turn up tword sun , wind is still an issue , imho normal and stick a small pepper or somesuch in bottom of it.

  • Won't it grow toward the sun? Which means the stem will want to go up while it really needs to grow dow, Problems will loom as it gets very large.

  • why didnt you put the plant in first?

  • @MikeysGirl2105 I guess because she wants half of the tomato trunk inside the bucket(the roots will grow out later), so put the soil first.

  • Great video and excellent presenter....And I should know..I've worked with the best!

  • Throw a handful of epsom salt in there too, while you're at it.

  • I'm not in the NW but this is stil worth watching. Thanks for posting, very informative!

  • interesting
