  • 1 of my favorite Libera songs. My 2 year old son requests to listen to it every time we get in the car. :) & yes, Ben's dimples are gorgeous!!

  • Only bit of my Catholic upbringing I miss.

  • Do my eyes deceive me or is that my favorite place in the world, Assisi, Italy? I went there on a People to People trip over the summer and it had to be my favorite place of all.

  • Love Tom! :D

  • for me they are all complete haha..thats why i like this vedio..

  • voices of the world :)

  • Beautiful carol, beautiful performance, magnificent voices

  • I know a cracking owl sanctuary.

  • maravillosas voces..parecen angeles

  • is this live or recorded?

  • muy hermoso, me siento en el cielo =)

  • @lxsch1

Muchas gracias por tu comentario!! Eres realmente amable!!

  • 0:36 the drummer guy has such pretty hands

  • Would someone with a more robust knowlege of Latin please remedy my misinterpretation.

From a few years of "doing" latin to intermediate level I expected the word

"virgine" to be pronounced with the v as w, and the g hard; yet in all these versions of Gaudete v is pronounced v and the g is soft as j.

Have I been misguided for 40 years, or have the rules changed?

  • @victori2100 I hear W instead of V in this version. The hardness of G is probably reduced to suite the rhythm.

  • @victori2100 you have learned "Classical Latin". The v=v is from Church Latin. All sung Latin uses church Latin pronunciation. You would hear the monks and priest at St. Peter's sing Gaudete like this video except the hard G. Basically Latin in the church is pronounced as modern Italian is. The hard G is actually a German/Slavic thing when speaking/singing Latin. As English is Germanic, and Libera is an English group, it is natural that they pronounce the hard G. Hope this helps.

  • Wow I especially love this because it has the old boys (Michael H and V, Oliver, Tom) and the new boys (James M, Alfie, Freddie, Stefan..) not to mention Steven on recorder! It's really quite special ^^

  • I love the acapella in the beginning, and Liam Connery, what a cutie ;)

  • i am atheist and I love this video.

but I hate the churches. ^^

  • @GalliadIl Lol, you're an atheist because you hate churches? :P

Anyway, congratulations that you can listen to this awesome music without being hampered by your believes

  • @MrGraz38 oh I found this video by the song "Gaudete" from Potentia Animi. xD

  • I love it:)

  • This is my favorite version of this song! It's super fun to play on the recorder :)

  • Look at the that Aled Jones cunt, being all enigmatic at the start. Its like the third man but with a welshman who's seen his best years.

  • I love MInibens cute face :-***

  • I wish they wouldn't attach christian catholic themes to these kinds of songs.

  • @onimotoko what about the FACT that these songs were written by catholic christians ages ago? Didn't think of that, did you?;)

  • @onimotoko facepalm

  • @onimotoko What on Earth is wrong with you!! this is a Catholic song used in the medieval times "Gaudete!, Christus est natus ex Maria Virgine" Rejoice Christ is born from the Virgin Mary that's the song!!

So now fags like you don;t even allow us to have pictures of the Virgin Mary attached to our own hymns!! Why are you even listening to this Catholic hymn in the first place?

  • @priest008 What I meant was that this song's origin is much older than anything the Romans could muster, which is why it's now used in catholic ceremony. The catholic church simply tacked on Christ related themes onto an ancient melody. I was simply pointing this out. Also maybe if you actually read your bible you would know that talking to a dead woman, is forbidden, king Saul actually died for doing that same thing. Mary was just the earthly mother of Jesus, not God's wife or anything. Read.

  • @onimotoko I have read, and if you are calling Mary a dead women then you are simply a Heretic. mary was taken up to heaven body and soul she simply slept and the Angels of God came to her and took her, Read Judith, read Revelation!

  • @priest008 I have read. And you call me a heretic. It NEVER EVER< EVER says that Mary did any of what you just said. She is asleep in the grave just like every other mortal who has died. THEN when Christ returns he will resurrect those who have followed his commandments and kept his statues. So what does Jude's letter have any thing to do with this topic? Curious. Read Matthew 12:49

  • @onimotoko COMMON SENSE TELLS YOU. If Jesus is too special to have his body remain here, then the vessel through which he came, the first tabernacle, Mary is also too special and must go to be with God, as her body is to precious also. Don't offend my mother like that please by saying she is dead in the grave. Your mother and my mother will die and go to the grave but mother Mary was taken to heaven. Church tradition also counts, she lived with St.John who surely could know what happened to her

  • @priest008 Common sense tell me that she was mortal and flesh. She did not ascend as it is written of for Jesus. If I went by your logic then I would have to say that her mother and her mother's mother also did not remain in the grave, all the way back to Adam and Eve. Seeing as how they gave birth to your "mother" anyway. Good thing I'm not into "church tradition", otherwise I would have no idea what to believe, since there are many "traditions" in catholicism. Sorry, not convinced.

  • @onimotoko I don't know there are many traditions the Church stick to the Bible and builds her tradition as Christ built on Jewish tradition. St.Anne died in the grave but Mary did not because she was the physical mother of Jesus, the first tabernacle.

Get off this video and take your heretical teachings somewhere else, I am sure the devil can fit you in an appointment, go speak to him. leave us enjoy this song to Mary and Jesus.

  • @onimotoko So you're saying that this song is over over 2000 years old? Because that's how old the Church is, this song actually came about in 900 AD and the Catholic Church had already been in existence for 900-33 years= 867 years, so I think it did create the song itself. I am sure there are many songs which don't have the virgin Mary there to offend you such as the songs of ACDC, Slipknot, Emminem ...go listen to those.

  • @priest008 The 'fag' comment was way off. I doubt you are a priest, and if you are, quit.

  • @amatorynumber 1) I am not a priest 2) A priest can call people fag, especially if they speak such heresy as he is speaking. St.Jerome is known to have been very short tempered and snapped on many occasions, St.Luigi de mpnforte beat up people who were blaspheming, if some one want the virgin Mary to be removed from her own songs then that person is a fag.

  • @priest008 You don't get me. If you think gay people are the ultimate disgusting thing you are a repulsive arsehole like the rest of repulsive digusting ridiculous bigots that walk the earth, priest or not. If a priest is capable to say 'fag' meaning that (after all, they are only human) he shouldn't be one. You shouldn't BE, FULL STOP. Go and die, bastard

  • @amatorynumber Foolish comment fro ma foolish person, instead of saying fool, I said 'fag' not to insinuate as homosexual in any way, if that's how you took it then it's up to you. Unlike you I don't think that Gay people are the ultimate disgusting thing, they are not things but people, and nice people but the the ultimate disgusting ACT is whats wrong and it's between them and God whose law lives from age to age.

  • @priest008 I have no time for freudian slips, sorry. If that crap is what you wish to believe, go ahead. Thank your god you were not the one born gay. See you in the afterlife... NOT.

  • A day of joy Sunday

  • is this the original one? when i searched for Angel Voices Gaudete, it has the same style of singing, as if one of them, either Libera or Angel Voices, is lip syncing an original one...

  • well if i'm following your question correctly i'll just inform you that libera is the name of the group, angel voices is the name of the album released. so it is the same group, although perhaps different people considering this was last year and the angel voices is from 1999 i think... i hope thats what you were asking.. if not, well, yeah sorry. :P

  • Wow !

Tis is a diamont of music.

    ( thanks for sharing !!! )

  • Thanks so much, Lutz!!

    Und Frohe Weihnachten!!

  • This is one of my all time favourites by Libera. Well, ALL Libera songs are awesome, but Gaudete is kinda special: I love the Medieval musical arrangement with percussion and recorder. The introduction sung by Liam was new to me, as I only knew the 2002 version of GAUDETE before, which did not hold this part.

Beautiful rendition. Thank you for sharing :-)!

  • Yes me too. For this reason I love all adaptations and compositions come from to the Mr Prizeman.

  • Indeed, Denis, one of the characteristics of Mr. Prizeman is the perfection. It is that makes that their songs don't age. Thanks so much!

  • Thanks so much, Michael.

A delicious medieval atmosphere that impregnates everything, simplicity and beauty as much in the interpretation as in the setting in scene are the distinctive notes that make that this it is a video to remember!!
