  • Still knockin' after all these years...

  • nice rasta shoes and matching djembe :P

  • SCHOOLY D IS FROM WEST PHILLY 52ND & PARKSIDE!!!...HIS OLDER BROTHERS CREW LABLED THIER SELVES P.S.K-(PARK SIDE KILLERS)!!!!...THEY WERE A REAL CREW DOING REAL THINGS IN THE WEST PHILLY GHETTO THEY FROM!!!

  • @phillypa70

YOU know, I was a skinny little white boy from wales (still white, still fairly skinny, but not so little now!) when I first heard this back in the day. Didn't know what the hell it was or what it was about, but I knew it was SOMETHING big the first time that 909 beat kicked me in my guts.. It's amazing how a bunch of sound waves can connect a middle class little kid from the middle of rural British nowhere with West Philly!

    PEACE

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, BEEN LOOKIN FOR THIS SONG FOR A LONG TIME !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Drewirish1 r u kiding? Philly? Whos from that shithole

  • @kushyushy420 The Fresh Prince of Bel Air DOOOOH!!!!

  • I heard this from moka shakea kam

  • Ezer ötszázat fizettem a taxiér, bazmeg. Köcsögség...

  • Siouxsie and the Banshees brought me here...and Case...but this is the original. I loved this era of music...all of it.

  • Hey I can still remember break dancing to this song! Lol

  • Respect to Schoolly D!!! Gangsta Rap inventor and style originater, NY and homo West Coast bit this style!!

  • Philly originiater, West Coast copulaters.......Dre ain't shit!

  • @Drewirish1

Really? G Funk put rap on a whole new level idiot. It might of started in the East. But the West knew what to do with it. NY cats were scared to curse on wax. Philly rappers are average at best. Cool C and Steady B are one hit wonders and they are dumb asses for the bank robbery.

  • (STUDIO GANGSTA RAP STARTED ON THE WESTCOAST)<GANGSTA RAP STARTED ON THE EASTCOAST.

  • ya but t's this was his flow and T just had his style similar. Eazy came out with his flow just cuz he was sounden like a dude from the end of that era . he just sounded like his predisessors. . even biggie just yearned for his chance to do this

  • ya 6 in the morning may have part of this re-looped

  • Love that pr dude with da afro. Dats the real shit. Civil rights movement baby!

  • wow so this was the first gangsta rap :D

  • najjaca pesma na svetu

  • so simple beat, with huge sound. still makes me jump!

  • Funny how everybody mention West coast artists since this is pure East coast flava from Philly.

  • Comment removed

  • Schooly D got his influence from Drug Dealers

  • Schoolly D is the creator of gangsta rap...not Eazy-E not Ice-t!

  • its simple....if u never heard of schooly D then u dont no whats really old school

  • i dont understand why people say "im only 15 and i listen to this" "im 13 and i listen to this stuff"

  • this was the precurse for all the Gansta Rap......CLASS!!!!!

This is still Shit-Hot in 2011!! Pioneers line up...........BEHIND!!!!!!!

  • Hilarious. East Coast MC layin the groundwork for what was to become "The" West Coast Sound... Gangsta rap.... West Coast may have done it, but East Coast Birthed it. For real. Any type of rap for that matter....

  • @alabaster77 if u wanna talk who came up with the type of flow that would be used by west coast emcees like ice-t or nwa, then schooly had that type of flow.but if u wanna talk who was the first gangsta rapper, ice still got schooly beat by 3 years.

  • @MrSFblack - incorrect. Ice T had tunes out a couple yrs before Schooly but they were B-Boyin and Dj based tracks (eg. Reckless) and not gangsta.

  • @merelyateacher wrong, ice had hardcore stuff out too & even was one of the first emcees to curse in his raps.don't believe me? go listen to the killers or the coldest rap.in actuality,ice-t & too short were the first real gangsta rappers.

  • @MrSFblack - Cmon man, The Killers was on Rappin The Movie soundtrack from 85 (same yr as PSK) but is a straight up RUN DMC / Melle Mell style rap and not in the least Gangsta. The Coldest Rap is an interesting one but doesn't contain anything more gangsterish than you can find in Cold Crush Bros, Fantastic Romantic or any of the late 70's Bronx rappers.

  • @merelyateacher the killers was recorded in 1983,two years before psk.just b/c the delivery is not like schooly or sounds more like run dmc & melle mell doesn't change the fact that he is spitting hardcore shit in that song.the coldest rap had the same delivery but still he spit hardcore rhymes about drugs, sex,& pimpin.same can be said for too short with songs like girl or coke dealers.what seperated schooly's style of gangsta from ice or short's style was that their style wasn't as vague.

  • @MrSFblack - well i'll have to give you that one (though Killers is dated 84 on his discography) then I suppose... but let it be known, Bronx MC's like Double Trouble and Ramelzee was holdin up gats at shows and spittin hardcore from 79-82, but apart from Wildstyle OST you're only gonna find it on tapes not wax.

  • @alabaster77 are you serious right now? You cant compare the two...two different schools of rap. I love both equally. West coast rap from late 80s to mid 90s owned.. Go listen to some Spice 1. Rappers like MC Eiht influenced many east coast rappers, same applies for Souls of Mischief.

  • @alabaster77 dont brag too much just this fag aint got shit on that westcoast gangster rap..

  • @alabaster77 The furthest Hip-Hop/Rap can be traced all the way to a park bench in the Bronx, NY!!!

  • @alabaster77 East Coast may have birthed it but the West Coast raised it

  • Schooly D! BY FAR one of the most under appreciated hip hop artists. Each year I see 2-3 artists this man influenced given the so called "Hip Hop Honors" and still do not see it granted to him! Sad!

  • @YoungOldSchoolRapper Break-boy, a break dancer

  • @YoungOldSchoolRapper are you serious?

  • Another example of the TR-909 representing in hip-hop. TR-909 + gated reverb = win. The 9 in a much overlooked drum machine when it comes to hip-hop. I love the SP-1200 and 808 as much as the next guy but man, when you get a dope pattern happening on the 9 look the eff out!

  • why has the culture of what used 2 be my prime years make me question ha rap aka hip hop lost its meaning in the here n now ????????????

  • bomb the system!

  • I'm Dominican and love it , when I live in uptown Manhattan this stuff was fresh and real hip hop.

  • Six in the morning (rip off) ICE T

don't quote me boy i aint sed nuthin yet (copy kat) EASY E

    who came first?

  • did he say 'fears came when making that green'?

  • DJ Khaled used this instrumental in "It Ain't Over Til It's Over"

  • Parkside Killers have apparently influenced the mass norwegian killer.

  • This shit wack yo!!

  • That mass murderer in Norway quoted Scholly D to justify his killings. He didnt listen till the end were Scholly says Got to put my pistol down and educate my mind.

  • @MrUrosSrb ...u got that from allhiphop

  • dont quote me boi I aint said shiiiit.

  • the reverb is sick

  • thumps up if dj khaled - it aint over till its over brought you here?

  • @Icecold2494 what the fuck?

  • @xGunnerxRecallx what?

  • wow even the origins of rap sound like crap

female rap lyricists are considerably better.

the best ones are white studio lyricists paired with female vocalists. that's rap heaven right there.

  • @zackhanscom you should just die

  • One by One when ngas was getting knocked out.

  • The 80's bruah, Real niggas live forever!!!!!!!!

  • PSK = Park Side Killers..... Awwww the good old days.. Philly in the 80's! I remember buying the 12' with Gucci Time on the other side. Yellow label and the writing almost looked handwritten. Damn seems like yesterday buying this on broad street. Wow!

  • @blacklaz777 Right! Down at Funk-O-Mart when it was downstairs on 8th and Market st, downtown Philly

  • Damn this nigga kinda sound like gangstalicious aka mos def

  • SCHOOLY. THE FOUNDER AND ORIGINATOR OF GANGSTA RAP. 80'S HIP HOP= SOMETHING FRESH AND NEW EVERY DAY! I MISS THOSE DAYS. IT WAS LIKE WAKING UP ON CHRISTMAS EVERY SINGLE DAY IF YOU WAS A B-BOY. YOU COULDNT WAIT TO SEE WHAT WAS UNDER THAT HIP HOP TREE. AND YOU WERE NEVER DISAPPOINTED.

  • Love the beats

  • why would someone come on a schooly d video and post racist comments??

  • I think the cut Deep Cover was more gangsta than the cuts on the Chronic? I love the line where Snoopy goes, and now they want to make a deal with me, put me on they team and chill with me, and make my pockets bigger

  • schooly d wasnt from pinones

  • Comment removed

  • This is where NWA and Ice T got there flow. That's Dopeman flow and 6 in the morning. Ice t flow is exactly like this cat. I feel like my mama walked in the door and told me I was adopted.

  • @buccy64 Ice Cube did admit to this btw... But shit this record is ill... they smart as hell for using the flow and beat pattern

  • philly = BIRTHPLACE OF AMERICA AND THE BIRTHPLACE OF GANGSTA

  • @tsartodd u liek philly check out 12 and OX, a documentary from the 60s or 70s

  • I was just 22 when this jam came out. These cuts bring back great memories. It was all about partyin' and having fun. I just remember how we just enjoyed the music and had mad crazy fun. I don't understand what's up with all the guns and shootin' one another nowadays. During this time the worse thing you might get into was a fist fight...but shootin' and killin'. I don't get that part. Great post!!!

  • Still slammin!!!

  • i fucks with the song, but the slideshow of pics didnt represent philly at all, schoolly d is fromt west philly and rapped with the fresh pince and jazzy jeff

  • We still bump this anthem in Parkside.

  • My high school basketball team used to come out to this jam and do our layup drills before our games one season...got the crowd hyped up!

  • 5*

  • HELL M.F'N YEA!!!!!

  • this is where snoop got drop it like its hot!!!

  • @MrFIVELIGHTS This is def NOT Drop it like its Hot . . Biggie Fucked with this tho LOL

  • fuck yes motherfucking Scholly D !!!

  • 9 people think Gangster rap started with the chronic

  • @Johnny8109 the chronic was awesome, smartass, u shoulda mentioned lil wayne

  • @GodzillaXAbudAwwal

hey smartbutt, I never said Chronic wasn´t awesome, my point was that too many people seem to think Dre (with NWA) is the founder of Gangsta rap, and PLUS WAY too many kids has to bring up Li´l Waynes name on EVERY FUCKING good ole hiphop song on youtube. i think they are giving him waaay to much attention by doing that and his music ain´t got shit to do with any of the good ole stuff..

  • @Johnny8109 hehe

  • <3

  • aww the forgotten art of DJ scratching

  • SCHOOLY D is underrated in rap history

  • 52nd street nigga allday evryday psk to mkt

  • Played all over the Delaware valley back in 1985.

  • @Dwindmill I hear that my nigga

  • i never noticed the 2nd beat in gang starr's "i'm the man" sampled this.

  • He had a good tune saturday night and i'm feeling kind of sporty

  • can you GET tougher than this beat intro?????? Not possible!! Picture a teen gettin this tape back in 87, poppin it in the box with his boys, drinkin......This song starts off hittin you HARD!! And when Code Money drops "Fresh//fhhhr/fhhhr/fresh...frrrh/frrresh.." we was reachin for the volume for REAL talkin bout "YO!!! TURN THIS SH*T UP!!" Under the dictionary definition of "All-Time Classic" there's a photo of this record. Schoolly D was first to drop this style, later called "Gangsta Rap"

  • Schoolly D is one of the reasons you can bring the street life on record. When you're mentioning Pac, Eazy, N.W.A., Ice-T, etc, don't forget Schoolly D because even Ice-T will tell you he was influenced by this song.

  • @Drezyful So true !

  • @Drezyful - yes you are very wise indeed. You should become an Islamic mullah with your knowledge of rap music. This is good, yes.

  • @Drezyful its obvious where 6 in the morning came from after listening to this

  • you all can talk shit to each other but when it comes to music this tune was the bomb. Thanks Schooly D. I appreciate the music and the lyrics always made me laugh. A legend from the old days.

  • what does the "P" stand for again?

  • @deadmic PSK= Park Side Killers

  • @macewindu67 oops. i forgot :( Everybody dont know certain things so we are nice and explain. thats what makes this work well so we "get to know each other" Shout out to ummm good ppl! sfordapplwhodontunderstand

  • The scratching on this track was always insane.

  • The music is based on boyz n tha hood by nwa

  • @hittdude99 No Way! Boyz In The Hood was on Eazy-Duz-It 1988. This was made in 85! Plus Schooly D IS the FATHER of Gangster Rap! So..... Boyz In The Hood is based on PSK by Schooly D.

  • @hittdude99 this the oldest, Ice T said schoolly D inspired his music, and ice T inspired the rest of the west coast

  • @hittdude99

haha ha ha hahhaaa. please tell me you are joking.

  • this is soooooooooooooooo sooooooooo sick

  • West Philly, birthplace of the source of all evil, ME. Represent. Peace.

  • love this song man the good ole days! I was about 15 when I first head it my cusin had the tape he wouldn't even let me borrow it to dud ... PSK! it was dope groing up along with hip hop ! wouldnt change a thing ! PSK!

  • @junior3981 The intro is from Flash Gordon.

  • "-9 in the mornin', Feds @ my door/ blue Cortez squeakin' 'cross the hard-wood floor/ Dippin' through the alley, I made my escape/ didn't even get a chance to grab my Snoop Dogg tape../"

    - Swoop G - "Who Got Some Gangsta Shit"/ Murder Was The Case Soundtrack

  • @blkgnuz2007 Hell, yeah! It's too obvious Soopafly sampled the high-hat from this on that track. You can even hear the high-pitched sine from the beginning of this original Schooly D cut, sampled in the back ground really clear just before Daz finished his verse on "..Gangsta Shit." if you turn the treble up high and listen really close. That's a classic jam too. It's always a good thing to hear new school artists pay homage to the originators.

  • @poignant4insights True, also I made an error in my first post. That was Lil' C style of Tha Dogg Pound who spit that verse at the beginning of "Who Got Some Gangsta Shit", not Swoop G.

  • Ice T never really let it be known that THIS is what he jacked for "6 in the morning"!! He a busta for that, but he has mentioned him though!

  • what the fuck does a d.r passport have to do with schooly d, im dominican, but im from the old school, born and raised here

  • what is the intro from?

  • I use to see schooly d every friday at the skating ring in camden.Back when we were drink red bull 40's.lol

  • aint this the same guy that made the aqua teen theme song?

  • @LadyRealityDA yuup

  • 10 years old when this came out....real gangsta ish

  • biggups to all dem one's on the philly/camden scene back in the day. power99 and lady B. i think i picked this up at the funk-o-mart...? :)

  • this guy needs more love. ice t wasnt the first gangsta rapper schooly d was

  • @POTESMOKE i don't have it, but this is from a nigga that heard it: "he was definitely on some gangsta/non-anti drug message shit.... basically it was f*ck tha police b4 NWA [not as powerful but effective enough] he also had a rap called 'da klan comes out at night' set to whodini's freaks come out at night... he was hard core wit it..."

  • i bought this album when it came out back in the dayz

  • @POTESMOKE toddy tee wuz spittin gangsta shit on his underground mixtape, batter ram underground version wuz a completely different batterram then tha cleaned up version

this wuz in '84, compton niggaz know watts up

  • PSK AND GUCCI IS THE GRANDFATHER OF GANGSTARAP AND TRAPHOP.As far as the westcoast is concerned, L.A in particular, this was the anthem for the dopedealers and the bangers at a time when strictly real hiphop was the only thing we all listened to, but this song reflected to crack era of the hoods. It influenced Ice T to do 6 in the Mornin which influenced N.W.A to do Boyz in the Hood...same flow patterns. Schooly D is the Godfather of Gangster, Thug, Trap music period.

  • @bingrim get the fuck out of here this shit came out before cali even dug rap. niggas out there was still pumpin full force. PSK is PARK SIDE KILLERS. PHILADELPHIA pa near fairmount park next to the BOTTOM PERIOD

  • Comment removed

  • one by one i knock you out !!!!!!!!!!!!

I lived in the wild -ass Hoopes St. area and every time some one from any neighborhood would go though their area to get to Wynfield ((that where all the fine bitches lived at), them Niggers would try to bum rush you? What the fuck, I'm just trying to get some Wynfield pussy niggers!

  • @NORAK69 heavy on the N work bruh? um jus sayin

  • @NORAK69 shut up, wigger faggot.

  • @damek666 Wigger Faggot, that's the best you can do, you bitch ass, want to be, internet gangsta! Number one a Wigger stands for a White person, trying to act Black. I'm a BLACK person you dumb piece of shit! Number two, I'm not no fagggot, I love sexy ass Black women, something a dick less person, such as yourself, can't even handle. You can write all this racist, black and gay shit, all you want, small things to a GIANT, dumb ass!

  • @NORAK69 mongoloid

  • @damek666 Your really are a dumb piece of shit, if you had any education whatsoever you would know that the Mongoloids are people from East or Southeast Asian. I'm Black, or African American, or Negroid, or Nubian but not a Mongoloid. What you need to do is put down that copy of Mein Kampf, a pick up a real history book, STUPID ASS!

  • @NORAK69 haha nubian... stupid mongoloid.

  • @damek666 Is that still the best you can do? Please keep responding, so you can keep showing the whole world, how stupid your ass is! :0

  • @NORAK69 retarded nigger

  • @damek666 Like I said in the last message, your ONLY showing people how dumb and ignorant your stupid ass is! You could NEVER respond back with anything smart, historical, or knowledgeable, like I have. You respond with some ignorant, racist shit because your probably standing in your trailer, wearing a stupid KKK white hood over your head, fantasizing about fucking your sister! (The truth hurts doesn't it!) :0

  • @NORAK69 stupid nigger keeps replying. i dont even read your shit, fucktard.

  • @damek666 If your not reading my shit, then why are you still replying??? Must be all that inbreeding, it's starting to show how stupid your are. Learn some sentence structure, just from the last reply you sent, you surely don't have more than a fifth grade education!

  • @NORAK69 'your' haha nigger.

  • @damek666 Your? Damn, you really are a illiterate, inbreed, trailer trash, shit kicking, dumb fuck, aren't you! I'm actually starting to feel sorry for you, now I'm realizing that public assistant or working at Mc Donald's, will be the highlight of your pathetic life.
