this is my number plz plz call me i need help real bad 1st time using a tascam 2488 neo and would love some h elp or geve me your number and i will call you plz
This is a very old school way of doing this. A laptop and a cheap interface would be a much much easier method to record, edit, mix, master, and render recordings.
@TheMovieEditor This device is very good and not too old school cause you can connect a laptop to it as well. However a smaller more simple interface is loghter for travel I am looking into getting an M - Audio interface with it own recording software. Do you have any pointers I should know when shopping for an interface ?
@bluetech7753 Ya, my church owns the Tascam 2488 neo II for certain applications. I have a focusrite sapphire usb 6 interface, its pretty awesome. My latencey is set to 2ms. If you need more channels, there is the Tascam 1800(I believe) with 8 channels. I prefer the Focusrite because I think it has nice preamps for the money, but the Tascam would be better for live work. If you need more then 8 channels, then just use the Tascam 2488. My issue is it takes forever to send wav files to pc via usb
Does anyone know how to save single effects to each track individually for the Neo? I watched the dvd tutorial and read the manual and nothing seems to stick. All the tracks are effected, making it impossible to have delay on the vox and flanger on the guitar for example. Help please!!!
Hi I just bought a Tascam 2488, I can't get it to record to Cd I am very new at this last time I did a recording was on a Tascam 24trk 2" tape years ago. I have all the tracks mixed now I cant figure how to master it down to a CD.. Wow am lost, Any help would be great. Chris
Thanks anyway I just don't want any over peak in my recordings distortion sounds worse then being -16 db below 0. The listeners will just have to crank up the volume a little more. this was new temporary unit so I did not know too much about it. What I need is a compressor limiter for a more stable level.
@seattlehawkins I agree dude however when you are recording a preacher he can get extremely loud so if I go too high on the gain then when he speaks louder or moves the mic closer to his mouth then the levels will over peak this recorder did have a compressor limiter built on but I did not know how engage it. I an no professional but I know enough to get by my pastor's recordings sound just good and this is not a tutorial I was just showing what I do in the church.
Are you sure that you plugged out from the mixer using a line out or an aux send mixers have at least 4 aux sends. and the other end of your cable goes into an input connection on the recorder. sometimes if you do this backwards you may still get signal input and think everything is good to go but nothing will record. example ( send out or line out from mixer, to output on the recorder) it should be this way (send or line out from mixer to an INPUT on the recorder not out or insert.
Praise God brother ! thanks for the video. My pastor bought a TASCAM DP-02 and I am currently in over load trying to learn everything... leaving nothing to assumption. QUESTION: How do I record my pastor's message? I learned on day one how to lay down and record to tracks. and then save as master then burn to CD. HOWEVER when I took the unit to church.... My attempt to record failed. I saw the single coming in, adjusted the effects. Saw it record but when I played back, there was nothing. PTL
@locotes187 Yes you can you would have to connect the pc from its head phone or line out into one of the channel inputs and make sure that the level is not over peaking you may need a cable with one quarter in plug one one end and a small plug one th other end it the same mini plug found on ipods and on your pc. to make this connection you can fine this at The Shack. AKA Radio Shack.
so you can plug pretty much anything and record it...how much channel inputs those this machine has also can you plug speakers directly to it, like with a mixer???
@locotes187 You can connect a pc to transfer files I would imagine that you can plug in a CD player how ever this recorder has a built in cd burner and player.
As I have had my mkii for about a year now, and know that you learn alot of tricks along the way. try splitting your tracks STEREO at input, also with vocal recording such as the sermon, use the micx4-send feature to compress or expand the vocal track then clone tracks and add (send reverb) you will get a very full sound , the tascam tutorial dvd is worth the money
Nice video. One tip. You've got your db to -16db. Too low! You want it to around -6db because otherwise you will need to increase the volume on mastering which brings everything up, including background noises! Set it to about -6db on recording and see the difference. The 2488 has built in mic effects so you can record via compressor on board too, which will give you a much cleaner sound and a more professional finish without any increase in effort really. Good luck!
That is one of the cheaper digital recorders The price wothout tax is under $1,000.000 that piece of equipment is not mine it belongs to the church but I run it along with the sound system which I will show in a future video.
I dont care what whywouldyouHQ or his followers say They know nothing about me. they just know I am fat but as of right now that is me although I am trying to slim down.

Does the 2488MKII have a built in compressor? if not, Can an external unit be used thru effects out-in?
Thanks.

@mazzo99 yes it does have a built in compressor you access it through the menu. You can also use an external unit as well.

Do you record the band with it as well? If you set up the mics properly, you could actually get a professional recording.

I do all my demo recordings on a 2488, check them out on my channel. Excellent machines and mine is now nearly 5 years old and running perfectly.
