What's this? Side One, Track 2? I'd better do my own research, I suppose.
The problem with listening to an entire LP or EP on here, to each individual track in the correct order, is the painful task of finding the next track. That task would have been much easier if the uploader had posted side 1 in its entirety and included 'Side 1' in the title, and treating Side 2 in a similar manner
There's an entire chapter devoted to Joe Meek's 1959 stereo masterpiece I Hear A New World—along with the restored and remastered music—in the brand new eBook Second Edition of Joe Meek's Bold Techniques by Barry Cleveland (available from iTunes, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble).
This song changed the entire face of rock n roll. I heard it in 1960 on the radio when I was very young. I never forgot it, and I imagine many others didn't also. Not only does it sound great, but it's groundbreaking and unique. Still sounds revolutionary in the 21st century.
The Birth of Progressive Rock, and still better than all that followed. 1960! It's only fitting that Progressive Rock came from Surf Music. When I heard this song first, I was six years old. I thought it was the best thing I ever heard in my life! I still love it. Rest In Peace Joe Meek. I never forgot.
It sucks but this poor man was like so many great men before him. Ahead of his time and a true artist. but its the closed mindedness of the folks around that cause things like this to go unnoticed till long after their dead and gone.
This song is so totally cool. It came out in 1960? It's still fresh. He deserved to be totally famous. Just listen to that feedback! That wasn't even supposed to exist then. Atruly unique talent, he should have had a much better life.
This is the bomb! Joe Meek, you are a true genius! This song is so ahead of its time, it still sounds avante garde today! This was done in 1960! If Ed had lived, the Beatles would have had real competition and everything would be different. I once asked a DJ who invented progressive rock and he said instantly "Joe Meek."

Hard to believe that this was all thought up and produced in 1959. It's a shame that it was only partially released in 1960.

Calling this innovative for its time is understatement.
