  • Does anyone know what he is playing from 2:10 on?? Any help much appreciated, cheers!

  • @MrCptGonzo

Its Deep Purple Sometimes i feel like screaming writed by Steve Morse

  • @LordNikonPL

Thanks a bunch! made my day!

  • I love the church-like chords he plays while rolling the tone control on and off. Great effect. Actually, I always love it when he plays anything church-like; sometimes he uses a synth set to an orchestral setting while fading it in very lightly in the background. Just a beautiful effect...

  • What I prefer in his playing apart of course from the wonderfully melodic choice of notes is the fluidity of his bends which expand the scope of individual note selection....bringing out the great potential of the electric guitar.

  • I can't undestand the position he uses to playing Bb, C, Db and Eb. Obviously, I perfectly know what position it is, but I bet there's something different in the chords he does than normal chords...

  • AMAZING!!

  • 0:34 OMG JIZZ

  • amazing how he manages the little finger

  • i read someone say Steve Morse is lame! lame?! how could anyone say that?! listen to this! this is soooo musical, not just a bunch of old nonsense strung together. mindblowing.

  • @maikonauta same here, i can't remember how many times iv'e viewed this, it's amazing.

  • 12 people clicked the dislike button...now I wanna hear them playing a guitar...

  • this guy definitely legend

  • really great

  • Yeah man. He is the master of manipulating the guitar just with the controls. He doesn't need no stinking pedals. Although he has his rackmount effects when he plays live.

  • A lot of effects pedals have that kind of effect on it, and he does it without one, Amazing musician.

  • Amazing Playing :P

  • He is one of the most versatile guitarists of our time!!!!!!!!!

  • great tone, amazing vibrato...this man and these guitars make serious music!!

  • 2:07 to 2:14... Amazing

  • wish all the best my friend

    see jou

    greeting ati.

    love jour play

  • wow !!!! 0_o

  • 2:17 ish sounds very Petrucci. Not that the rest doesn't. And I know Steve Morse is a huge influence on Petrucci, but it's almost note for note in one of Petrucci's riffs from some song or another.

  • @FarazR2 JP may have borrowed a little something from steve in that case then, cause that riff is from a deep purple song called sometimes i feel like screaming.

  • Comment removed

  • @FarazR2 That's "Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming" by Deep Purple.

  • Hey Guys!

Do you know the name of the song from 1:11 till 1:48 ?

Or just the chords he's playing?

    Thanks!

  • @19RooT88 I've been looking for that answer also. I swear I have heard that chord progression in an old Dregs tune but cannot find it. I'll keep searching ! Great stuff

  • @nhfret Close, but no, it's the progression of The Aviator :D

  • I think Steve uses also a pedalboard wich simply controls his amp's channels, clean and distortion...you can see the pedalboard (looks like a MIDI pedalboard) in some video, near the one with 3 ernie ball volume pedals.

  • Jesus, that silver guitar is ugly

  • Sometimes I feel like Screaming seems to be hard to play....

  • does anyone know what he is playing at 2:05 it's great!

  • "sometimes i feel like screaming" from the "perpendicular" deep purple album , the first deep purple album with steve morse on the guitar (1996).

  • Pure greatness:)

  • Eddie VAn Halen Eruption Guitar Solo !

  • 3:52 ;p

  • I am voiceless. So great!

  • he is really extraordinary palyer .

  • i have met him

  • i keep watching this video.Obsessed.This is the best guitar playing iv'e heard or seen.

  • I prefer the serial no.1 morse model:D I want one!!!!!but its a little bit expensive:S

  • @opininon

they always are expensive arn't they! annoyingly just out of reach.

  • That last version of his sig guitar sounds the best to me (the one that's not fancy.) I had one like that once. It was a great guitar and I shouldn't have sold it.

  • wow that lick at 2:47

  • this guys great, first time iv'e been touched by his playing

  • @steptoesaunt

Congrats! It's one hell of an experience ain't it?

  • Comment removed

  • anyone knows what 2:15 is?

    I like it

  • sometimes i feel like screaming, brilliant song

  • Comment removed

  • orgaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasm

  • For " bfg9000 " Is " I feel like screming " ;)

  • From 2.04 to 2.22... wich song is this?? I really love it...

  • The song is called Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming :)

  • Sometimes I Fell Like Screaming!

  • hehe he missed the harmonics at 00:39

  • Why all those pups?? lol :-)

Why dont they squeze another one in there? ( the grey one). :-)

    He´s playing is fantastic!

  • the one next to the bridge is used as a volume reducer so he can play clean sounds while one a wildly distorted amp.

  • @LateNightShredder Actually, no. To play clean sounds with a "wildly distorted amp setting", Steve switches to the bridge side single coil and simply turns the volume down. That's all. He explains and demonstrates it on his website. The bridge side single coil is lowered all the way into its hole for maximum distance from the strings for this reason.

  • Looking for song during 1.14 and 1.30?

These chords are great, and I know I've heard this on some Morse tune in the past.

  • it sounds similar to a section he does in the youtube video called unnmed 9 1/2 minute guitar solo

  • 3:26. whats that i like the melody

  • what's the name of the song at 2.00??

  • sometimes i feel like screaming

  • EB did not continue this option in there production line of Y2D's, but they should have kept it.... this was the prototype.

  • gold hardware and white pickups would look awesome on this instrument..!

  • 0:11 till 0:17...

his picking technique is so amazing..

  • yeah...

I think he's better than Paul GIlbert..

Paul is really over-rated in his picking technique...

in fact, he uses hammer on pull off more often..

Heartland USA Rocks ! Steve Morse Too !

  • Only guitar, cable and amp. Great Smiley Master :)

  • Very Nice.

  • God!

  • steve morse is a god!!!!

  • eu ensinei tudo o que ele sabe ,kkkk

  • @ 3:16 thats mos def. the riff that petrucci uses in Metropolis pt.1, DT fans would know what I'm talking about

  • haha, one of petrucci's main infulences is steve morse :P

  • lots of pinky stuff. Steve Morse is awesome.

-This is like Van Halen meets Petrucci

  • no. this is like steve morse

  • Huh . . . never seen that before. Instead of getting that spacey effect for the notes by using a volume pedal, he's using his pinky to turn the volume knob up and down as he plucks the strings. Very cool.

  • yeah, its a cool trick but why he does it is because of the way he connects his pedals. For every pedal he uses a Ernie Ball Volume Pedal, so if he wants to do this spacey trick with a volume pedal he would basicly have to re-set-up his whole pedal rack...

Check the Steve Morse sound lesson, he really is a good teacher :P

o, and btw, on his site, he explains his rack with pictures and everything so maybe that would be helpful too.

    cheers,

    J

  • @jelmer777 Steve does no "tricks" that count on the way he connects his pedals. He uses long and short delays along with a guitar synth controlled by 3 Ernie Ball volume pedals. That's it. Whichever one he wants to use (or combine with the others) is all that there is to it. Very simple but versatile setup. Jelmer is correct about his teaching and his website, which explains his setup in more detail.

  • does anybody knows the chords betweeen 1.14 and 1.30?

  • Does anyone know what song that tap harmonic part is from?

  • The song is 'Sometime I feel like screaming'

    Beautiful tap harmonic

  • ya, thats the one...thanks man

  • i think the purple burst sounds better then the others .. what do u think?

  • what a great guitar and what an expensive thing :( fuck

  • I owe the Purple Burst version and I got to tell you, not a day goes by that I don't at least sneak a peek at it to this day as I go off to work, looking for to getting home and playing this guitar. Super super fast neck, sounds awesome and feels superb both in weight and in the playability. EB guitars tend to have a narrow feel around the 1-3 frets, so if you have a bigger hand, you may find it slightly uncomfortable. A must have. Quality is top notch.

  • nice color... does that color come in his signature series only?

  • words cannot even describe how this man plays...... :) seen him live once.... wow.. but here... yeah you know! :)

  • you guys should also visit music-man(dot)com for more info on this amazing guitar.

  • STeve Morse is a great guitarist nice guitar tone also!

  • STeve Morse is a great guitarist nice guitar tone also!

  • Steve rulz. A true genius.

  • @flamenator:

thats fromthe song 'sometimes I feel like screamin' of the album purpendicular. enjoy1

  • wats the lick at around 2;00 the 1 that he repeats in differnt keys and up the octave using the harmonic effect thing

  • the king of string skipping!

  • reminds me of eric johnson! steve morse kicks!

  • you can purchase them from online at guitar center or musicians friend web site, you cant get these in the stores from what guitar center salesman said.

  • SWEET LOOKING GUITAR!!!!

  • anyone knows what the main difference is between the blue ebmm and his SM-Y2D?

any idea how much one of them would cost and where can i get them?

  • the blue original steve morse model cost $1400.00

the steve morse smy2d cost around $1600.00

    i have both these models

    the y2d with a floyed/whammybar cost around 1768.00

but you cant get this model since it whas discontinued this one with the chrome hardware and cream pickups was the prototype im pretty sure.

  • and amazing guitarist!

  • it's easy,but magic...great guy

  • Sweet!!!

  • He sure nailed the volume sweels

  • hmmm...it says he talks with sterling ball...but in fact the just plays! Well I cant complain since its steve morse, but its false advertisement! No interview here! But great playing no less.

  • STEVE MORSE THE BEST!!!!!!

  • o men... he's simply amazing... and i simply love the part from 00:11 to 00:18!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • steve morse un maestro pa la guitarra

  • the big sund is from the ENGL

  • I can't imagine how he could play better :-D

  • youre telling STEVE MORSE how to play better?

  • the way he plays gives him more control over his guitar, he does not need to play a million miles per hour like "Dragon force"...

  • not to mention steve plays licks that dragonforce couldn't dream to play in a million years....

  • you got it right man, dragonforce could NEVER play even his easiest lick

  • @xelad1 what are you talking about, herman li could totally play morse licks.....

that is if he speeds it up in the studio like he does with all his other guitar parts....heheheheheh

  • That way you get more attack in your playing. It'snot only fast picking thatt matters. Players who play that way, is not very interesting in the long run. Impressiv at first, then just end up beeing boring. Listen to Andy Timmons, Steve Morse, Eric Johnson, SRV and likes. They don't get great on just the fast stuff

  • he plays that why, i do to, when playing that way you have better control over string skiping, hes not looking into playing dragon force.....

  • pcnation11!

You roll the volume off on your guitar and as soon as you strike a note you roll it back up to fade the note in. It takes a bit of pratice to get it "smooth" you need to curl your little finger around the volume knob like steve does here. a little delay helps to make it sound smoother aswell.. Hope that helps

  • What kind of Amp does he use?? His Tone sounds massive!!! Its so sick

  • ENGL

  • can anybody tell me how in the world he makes that flute noise by messing with the tone volume?

  • is he using an engl here? cus that is the sound i want without a doubt

  • I love this clip, I love his sound. it rocks! stratty sounds, tele-sounds, les paul roars, he got it all, in just 1 amp, 1 channel, 1 guitar.

about those 'taps': its not a tap, he's picking a note, and simultaniously, he's touching the string, 12 frets higher, to get a natural harmonic. look up some clips like 'what ted greene taught me'.

  • wooahh... I hear a lot of petrucci in there... so I can see why both influence each other a lot

  • Ahh...I think you better keep that coin on one side...Steve influenced Petrucci way more than the other way around...I have been listening to Morse since 1982 and his approach was already what you hear...he has just added more vocabulary to his already gargantuan abilities.

  • Living proof that even the best guitarist on the planet can give a wank over some improvisation. Some stuff just genius some other from the guy... next door, but still simply the best!

  • Very good, steve morse and claudio marciello are my favorites

  • He changes guitar tone while he's playing!

    Steve is a genius!

  • The melodious part of Morse is just spine chilling!

  • those taps he's doing are harmonics

  • somebody explain those taps he's doing to me?

    Thanks

  • put the plectrum between your thumb and middle finger. extend your second finger until its straight.. put your hand at any point on the guitar ( can be a chord or single notes doesnt matter its your choice) but for example if its at the 5th fret ( barred) you'd play at the 17th fret harmonic position. so its basically just harmonics at the 12th fret as you would on an open guitar. but you can obviously do 9th fret , 7th fret, 5th fret, 4th fret, and 2nd fret harmonics also if you want.

  • Love this sound. This video stands as a simple homage to the caliber of player Steve is. It also speaks to the love and agonizing dedication that Ernie Ball puts into the quality of their guitars. I feel so happy when I watch this series. Thanks for posting it.

  • those skips!! damm he can alternate pick anything!!

  • 2:00 Deep Purple - Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming. Cool song

  • whats song is he playing at 2:00 minutes???

  • Wat song is he playing at 1:58

  • for the 4000 time... sometimes i feel like screaming

  • you could make a pun out of that lmao

  • morse rules !

this sound of violin is violent!

  • come lui nessuno mai w deep purple

  • you rock

  • Steve Morse, Vai, Clark, Farris, Lukather, Stevens are great guitar player!

  • you forgot vaughan

  • And satch

  • I prefer YJM's style, but Steve is a better musician than Yngwie by far.

  • It's a deep purple song. called sometimes i feel like screaming.

  • anyone knows what song is he playing at the time around 2:15

    thanks

  • it sounds like it's from "midnight daydream" off his split decision cd (awesome entire cd btw)... either that or it's a play off one of the motifs from that song

  • Geez - sometimes I feel like screaming, too. I just went to look up the song, only to find that medve 17 just posted the name of that tune. . . At least, now ya know!

  • steve is the shit!!!!!!!!!!

  • steve's are good, Steve Morse, Steve Vai, Steve Clark :p

  • I met Steve @ a clinic in San Francisco in 1993 and he was very nice!

    JB

  • one of the best tones allied with one of the best techniques and a great feeling. result? master Steve Morse. Hail Steve!!

  • Saw Steve at NAMM, really great player, and great guy also.

  • the real virtuoso

  • Steve Morse had such amazing tone and note choice man. He's got a pretty sexy guitar there to eh.

  • I love the way he gets those artificial harmonics: one of the few shredders I really like. I'm a great blackmore fan, but I prefer DP with him tha with blackmore, at least in the 80'/90', since the MKII is untouchable. great player indeed!
