Dumb question - but isn't this just a regular LCD but without a backlight? In which case you'll get a dim image. Due to losses in the RGB colour filters, polarizers and the pixel apertures I'd expect the transparency to be 1/3/ x 1/2 x 0.9 = 0.15 = very dim. I'm not immediately seeing a killer app.Augmented reality sunglasses perhaps?

it's exactly like the LCD you're using now.

pixels made of tiny vials filled with a liquid, that when electrified lines up and allows the backlight to come through.

if anything this is simpler cos it doesn't even require a backlight of it's own.

realize this technology is useless in the dark.

you know what's interesting... when this thing is "off" it's a black screen. meaning to be a window it's gotta be turned on to "white"
