Ahhh, this brings back memories...these people are getting on the Kyuko (express) train at Shakujii-kōen train station, which is on the Seibu Ikebukuro Train Line that goes into Tokyo, JAPAN. I used to take this train line everyday for 12 years, but since I never was going through Ikebukuro, I never took the express train during rush hour. I now live in Texas - a bit different than Japan :)
You don't...most people take the train to the end of the line and get off in Ikebukuro, where you can transfer to a lot of other train lines. But if you need to get out before then, you get out at each train station then try to be the last person onto the train before it goes - that way you'll be able to get out at the next station. Trust me, I've done it...
