I was looking forward to going there i had a reef in my pocket, wanted to sit on the beach just like Leo. Disapointed when I got there too many people. There is a small little beach just to the right but its not as clean but no one was on it.

Let me help you out, dont disapoint yourself by going at peak day with 100s of others the beach will be mad with people and boats. Get up early or go about 5 at night, hire a private long tail from phi phi, it wont cost much more, make it worth the trip. You will love it and be able to take in the amazing place without being overwhelmed with crowds. Some of those boats can carry 100 people.

there is a small and exclusive camping trip that goes to Maya Bay everynight. I did it and I reccomend it. My bf and I went down to the opposite side of the beach while everyone was partying, we watched the sunset and took a night swim, it was so romantic. I have no heard of people rowing there. It took about 20 minutes just for out little motored tug boat to motor on over there. I suppose m b if you went from tip to tip, but the waters are very busy & can be choppy depending on time of year

To get the camping trip you must book on main Phi Phi at the Lemon Grass restraunt. It is easy to find on the map. or you can look up camping maya bay and find it online. Cost is 2000 baht for a person and that covers fees, activities and food. The people that run this are very caring, I lost my camera and they even turned back to look for it. I ended up finding my camera and all was well, but I was surprised they took me back to where I lost it, they really care.

Thai people in general are very good people. I left my camcorder on the table at a bar on Phi Phi Don, and forgot about it (I had lots of bags with me and just sat down for a minute). It wasnt until the next day that I realized it was missing, and I went back to the bar to check and the woman there had put it behind the counter and kept it safe for me.

It was a pancake bar. Looks like a bar but she serves thai pancakes there. Its right next to the Gym on Phi Phi Don, so I suggest everybody go there for some pancakes, shes a good lady.

But just in case you didnt yet: I tried to row out there with a friend and it was extremely difficult because of the current between the 2 islands. I don't know why it's so strong there, but we were unable to make it to Phi Phi Leh. Had to turn around.

Unlike Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Leh was not hardly affected by the tsunami. I was there in 2003 and 2006. Both before and after the tsunami.
