trucking Sucks ass!! been driving for 18yrs never been laid off so many times screw trucking who the hell wants to drive local at 14-15 dollars an hour bit me!!!
Great video. I would like to ask you to join the completely free StrikeRightNow com forums. We are in need of moderators and people who can help us effect positive change in the trucking industry. I look forward to hearing from you, Bill
I sat in the seat of one for twenty years. sometimes made good money but i had to kill myself to do it. most of all, i missed my son growing up. I cant get that back. do yourself a favor and listen to this advise, you will never get rich driving a truck. and owning a fleet only doubles your trouble.
AFTER 19JEARS OF TRUCK DRIVING I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE EVERIBODY ADVICE = GO BACK TO SCOOL AND FORGET THIS LOW PAYED AND RISKY JOB.IT IS WAIST OF TIME OF YOUR LIFE.THEY FOLOW YOU ON SATELITE AND PUSH YOU TO RUN,AND ON THE END OF MONTH YOU MUST ARGUE WITH THEM FOR ALL THINGS THEY DONT PAY..FORGET THIS ADD....THIS IS MY FRIENDLY ADVICE!!!
wow how rare is it you see a lady trucker that looks like a fox at 39 seconds in vid!! ive been looking for 5 months cant get one becuz i have 4 preventables .. they need to lighten up on preventables EVERYONE CAN SCRATCH ANYTHING .. and i mean srcatch like a a grocery store parking lot . if its not D.O.T recorded then its nothing ..i see companies that allow up to 4 moving violations and 2 preventables why 4 why not 4 preventables too ?
I got 10 years exp. in the USA...Only had 1 accident, not my fault, was cut off, I been looking now for 9 years to get back on the road, no companies are hiring, and I know that other drivers have accidents too, how are they still working and I cannot? I have now gave up my CDL "A" lic. No wonder theres a trucker shortage!!! They only give ya 1 chance!! Driving on the road 24/7 a accident will happen eventually, its unavoidable!
What I mean by accidents can be anything from denting the side of your trailer to ( as for me ) a car cutting infront of me and clippin my front bumper!
What I see out there now scares the s**t out of me, weaving drivers, drivers who cant even back up a truck, drivers constantly curbing a trailer turning off a 4 lane road onto another 4 lane road? OMG! and they can get a job driving a truck!!?? Just throw experience out the window and hire a rookie!
GPnRI, if you have a considerable gap in driving history while keeping busy in another part of the workforce, companies will classify you as having an insufficient work history. That is the problem with companies, they don't consider prior experience a plus. The entire system is upside down and geared towards slave labor vs. progression.
I hear that I have about a million and a half miles about half truck and half taxi with no accidents and only ever one ticket (not signaling a lane change) from 1995. What am I doing now? The only thing I could find delivering papers to paper boys and stores but on the plus side I get paid pretty good and I get to use my half ton so no log books and I can expence personal vehicule.
the trickets are killing you , there are many frieght jobs out there try abf frieght or some of the big gas companies but you need to get a twic card where do you live ??
that is how much the industry has deteriorated. they won't pay for experienced drivers and will higher cheap graduates. Just a shame. Secure industry my ass.
you are so right it makes me sick i have 35 years and was laid off , we should be hired we have the experienced needed to get the job done , i have 1 million 700 thousands miles log , let them hire graduates there theone who cause alll the accidents on the road .
that is exactly why I didn't make a career out of it with Swift as I saw the warning signs and just switched fields given what I went through. I do maintain my CDL, but it is really a last resort. I'm think I'll have a few options down the line, but have to keep working as a temp. a little while longer until the right positions open as I do have computer experience, office experience, telecom experience, and professional driving under my belt now. Something Swift could care less about.
some drivers have their dedicated routes and that works for them. I was more OTR and did try other areas of the trucking industry and even local driving. Best job I ever had was with Matheson Postal doing seasonal work which paid about $1000/wk for 7 day work week and 8 hour shifts. That was nice. From who I've talked to, nowadays it could be better to stay local or regional or dedicated and deliver gasoline, soda, or beer. Get paid hourly instead of by the mile.
Swift did get me into Canada though and to other parts of the U.S. So I had my fun at the least seeing what I wanted to see. Sorry to hear about your situation though. I've lost track of my miles driven professionally and non-professionally. My truck driving skills did enhance my over driving skills and that assisted me greatly when applying that to my telecom drive test routes in major cities. The trucking gives you that sixth sense where you learn to just back it off and take your time.
im 25 years old, filipino trucker from philippines and i want to work in canada,i handled isuzu 420, mb actros, mb 1735 and a volvo F12 with a 40ft. flatbed trailer and a 36ft. tanker trailer in my country and in saudi arabia, please tell me what are the qualifications needed.thank you!
in ontario you first need to get your full drivers licence called a g licence it takes 22 months to get your g...and then you go to school to get your a-z licence and you can drive a truck but you are looking at 2 years to do all of this

GPnRI, Swift dinged me on my DAC but funny thing is I kept my MVR spotless. The industry needs to do away with the DAC.

dont take it the wrong way,but you sound like a friend of mine in Vegas (jobless for 9 mos so far), he always
complains companies dont want a complainer and a good manager will
smell you a mile away ! first impression put on that smile, good nature, everything
in the world is-A-ok attitude , dont hesitate on questions and again have that can do attitude,no one wants
to hear about your "lousy last job"
what do you want to hear from ppl?

get your self presentation togather and hit the bricks ! ive gotten jobs without even filling out an app, just my licens info and i
was in a truck delivering, also facial expressions sometimes dont match your words ,im pretty abrasive
so this is one i have problems with, im lucky enough my friends pointed that out after a girl asked "from a distance"
if she could meet me,lol yah i guess my personality was that bad ! good luck...
