Not only about the bill, it's about waste of energy. The problem is more and more people are doing this, if they were just a few in each town there won't be any problem(just their bill).
Relax there, Mr. Conservation. It only happens for a couple of weeks around Christmas each year. Besides, people love looking at cool light displays. If it makes people happy then it's not a waste of energy. That's why I do it. That and because it pisses people like you off. Ha-ha-ha!!
After reading this comment I'm taking the timers off of our lights this year and leaving them on all night and all day.
I'm also going to cut down a real Christmas tree with a gasoline powered chainsaw even though I could have used the handsaw the Christmas tree place provides.
