Katara draws strength from her emotions, she doesnt sit there crying horribly.

Nina dobrev, if you dont know her look her up, if you do before you think any thing bad...I think nina and azula look very similar azula is just paler then her with darker hair. This kid sounds like a nut. The movie was misleading to the original feature of characters. Sokka and Katara were to portray black kids in an inuit culture, Aang was a white kid in a indian culture, and the fire nation was suppose to be Japanese/Korean in a chinese culture. It was a mixture feature, and that's what made Avatar Special. It wasn't accurate and mixed everyone as its own world. The film just distorted its meaning. Obviously most fans don't agree with what happened.

The races don't really make sense in Avatar, but that's okay because it's their own world, it's not meant to exactly reflect our world. That's what the movie failed at, they tried to base the races based on the our world instead of the SHOW's races/ world. It was a slap in the face to the show to change the casting so drastically.
They should have hired the voice actors. Sure the voice actor for Aang would have learned some moves, but they were all pretty spot on for characters. Especially, Dante Basco as Zuko. Yum. Oh how I loved him as Rufio in Hook.

Aang was spot on. But I couldn't agree with Katara and Saka - cause they should be of African or Native American descent. Interesting choice for Azula, but I'm not too sure. Because the personalities are bit off. Zuko should be some hot Asian dude.And Azula should be a hot Asian who can act the 'bitch' part very well. And Toph's character should be a pretty black haired/blue eyes kid who can act the tomboyish/tough part really well - and looks it too. All should be pretty good in martial arts.
I agree with you all that the casting shouldn't be all white, but nor should it be all Asian either. Why, you ask? Because, of the very reason why the cartoon series was so internationally popular - besides it's amazing story line; it's the fact that it represented different types of people who come from different ethnic backgrounds. And perceived them equally as human beings. Which I think is something worthy to be recognized - 'cause it's quite rare to find it -generally- in tv shows/movies.

Most were better except Taylor. Jasper is a no no, what would make Taylor better other than the fact that he's Native no one in Twilight could really act. And Demi really? I don't think so. One she's to short; 2 she can't act; 3 Azula looks like an Asian/Caucasian mix like the rest of the Fire Nation not like a Disney Bopper. The rest were really good though. Especially Mai, little iffy on Brenda Song for Ty Lee but not bad.

Not saying that the cast was right for the movie at all, but stop getting mad at the actors. It's the caster/director's fault for the cast. The actors just took the role assigned and tried it the best they could.
All of these fit...the only one that i didn't like was Toph's actress idea. I do admit that there needs to be diversity, but Toph in the anime/cartoon was pretty light skinned...can't she at least be whitish? She and Zuko were pretty pale...

Actually, I think Brenda Song as Ty Lee wouldn't be too bad... I mean think about it. She can do the whole "ditzy" girl thing (through playing London and that one chick from Phil of the Future) and she's a freaking black belt! I think your cast for the most part is better than the ones now, however.... I am an expert when it comes to Asian actors... and there are soooooooo many that would be better that the ones here.... if I wasn't doing finals I would tell you who they where now.

@liljuel10 Blue lenses don't look the same as blue eyes. They're not transparent and "icy" looking. The Water Nation princess in the movie's blue lenses looked fake and tacky as can be. The best cosplayer I've seen for Katara, and she was PERFECT, was a mostly white Latina girl with blue eyes and naturally tan skin. "All Asian cast" my ass. The show centered around Asian culture, but very clearly sourced upon Western animation as much as it did anime.

Aang was spot on. But I couldn't agree with Katara and Saka - cause they should be of African or Native American descent. Interesting choice for Azula, but I'm not too sure. Because the personalities are bit off. Zuko should be some hot Asian dude.And Azula should be a hot Asian who can act the 'bitch' part very well. And Toph's character should be a pretty black haired/blue eyes kid who can act the tomboyish/tough part really well - and looks it too. All should be pretty good in martial arts.

I agree with you all that the casting shouldn't be all white, but nor should it be all Asian either. Why, you ask? Because, of the very reason why the cartoon series was so internationally popular - besides it's amazing story line; it's the fact that it represented different types of people who come from different ethnic backgrounds. And perceived them equally as human beings. Which I think is something worthy to be recognized - 'cause it's quite rare to find it -generally- in tv shows/movies.

Most were better except Taylor. Jasper is a no no, what would make Taylor better other than the fact that he's Native no one in Twilight could really act. And Demi really? I don't think so. One she's to short; 2 she can't act; 3 Azula looks like an Asian/Caucasian mix like the rest of the Fire Nation not like a Disney Bopper. The rest were really good though. Especially Mai, little iffy on Brenda Song for Ty Lee but not bad.

I wish that people didn't get so worked up about that ethnicity thing. The only reason racism exists is because people get so worked up about it. If everyone's equal, than white works just as well as asian.
Not saying that the cast was right for the movie at all, but stop getting mad at the actors. It's the caster/director's fault for the cast. The actors just took the role assigned and tried it the best they could.

taylor has the right skin color like sokka but his voice, its too....odd no means to offend any taylor lautner fans he might be funny but there are three steps to casting 100%1. Looks, in comparison to the works you are adapting it from tehy have to be in relation to it or it fucks it up2. Acting, they have to be able to act well enough that it doesnt seem like a movie, it has to be smooth and realistic
3. their script, I know it is teh dorectors job or scripwriter but it has to make us believe

Aang was born in China, raised in the US. His mom is full-chinese, his dad is half.
Sokka is from Singapore.
Katara is white, i give you that.

McCartney may have been the initial CAST for Zuko, but wasn't the actor PLAYING Zuko.
Who was cast for a movie and who plays in the movie are entirely different.

Instead Dev patel was CAST in his place and PLAYED Zuko. Don't bend reality here. I checked both Noah's ethnicity was NEVER announced. You're quoting evidence that doesn't even exist! Actually, I think Brenda Song as Ty Lee wouldn't be too bad... I mean think about it. She can do the whole "ditzy" girl thing (through playing London and that one chick from Phil of the Future) and she's a freaking black belt! Also, on top of all that, she's Chinese (AKA no racial problems here or there ^_^).

I think your cast for the most part is better than the ones now, however.... I am an expert when it comes to Asian actors... and there are soooooooo many that would be better that the ones here.... if I wasn't doing finals I would tell you who they where now.
However I will say this according to the dress style in the animation : Earth=Korea Air= China Fire= Japan Water= Eskimo/ maybe South East/Middle East. Love, The Asian Studies Major

@liljuel10 Blue lenses don't look the same as blue eyes. They're not transparent and "icy" looking. The Water Nation princess in the movie's blue lenses looked fake and tacky as can be. The best cosplayer I've seen for Katara, and she was PERFECT, was a mostly white Latina girl with blue eyes and naturally tan skin. "All Asian cast" my ass. The show centered around Asian culture, but very clearly sourced upon Western animation as much as it did anime.
