Infact its ok for people in the city who have a Western background but its will be alien for people of other cultures. Especially for a Hindu convert from a village it would be very difficult .Anyway this is only the Latin rite in the Catholic Church. There are others. May the music we use help us to glorify and worship God most high.
Beautiful. I can only hope and pray that priests will take advantage of this rediscovered beauty in the liturgy and stop pretending that the Mass is their toy to play around with!
@resultant64 Mass isn't meant to appeal to people. It's a holy and reverent prayer to God by the Faithful through the Priest. If one understands the deep and ancient beauty within the prayers of the Mass, then one will appreciate it.
@jedi1991 You are saying that.. what music do you play... if its music at all... just saw your video..
You have to help people to pray not take them away from it. As it is in the West there are hardly any people going to church unlike here in India.Do you know the music in heaven. It's not classical or jazz or pop but people worship there.H ave you thought of other cultures?.. Thank God we in India in the Catholic church don't stick to one style of music.
@resultant64 Sorry to cut into the conversation. I wanted to comment on this. I agree that we should think of "other cultures". Regardless of what culture it is, I think there should be chanting like this involved [in India, chant that sounds like Hindu Bahjans (like they have in the Syro-Malankara Church) would be ideal]. It gives a more holy feeling and arises strong solemnity. The new hymns could be used sometimes but the chant music should be the main holy music involved.
@resultant64 actually, i've seen youth take a much greater interest and more actively participate in the chanted Mass than with friggin guitars and drums and the priest just speaking :)
That depends on how many youth attend mass in the Western countries....And you don't need to just blast music but good music and help brign the presence of God down ..... Mostly the mass is become a ritual...

It's the Holy Eucharist. It's supposed to be slow and contemplative, sweet and pleasing. Gooey? No way! This is wonderful.

Too slow, sweet and gooey.

@polemeros I agree with the slow, but this is essentially the same setting we use now.
