I've watched most of 'em, and there's the TF Wiki, of course. They're not all independent, and it's not really that complicated. There's G1, and then BW and BM. RID's a reboot, meant as a placeholder. Armada's a reboot, with Energon and Cybertron continuing it. Animated's also a new universe, and the movies are a new universe.

BW und BM take place on prehistoric earth, it's a prequel to TTF of the 80s. its maybe an alternate universe too like animated is a split timeline after the events of pre-TTF. the 3rd cybertronian war against the decepticons might have had a slightly different outcome there so animated is already the fourth war (as is this show, the headmasters).

@StellarCry Except in BW/BM, the characters begin in the future, after the war, and go *back* to the past. They know what's going to happen because it already has. The third season of BW really revolves around this. It's more of a prequel than a sequel, really.

It's a matter of how you view things, I'd say it's a prequel (because the events happen in a time before G1), but you can call it a sequel too, I guess. Prowl was very popular to the comic world, myself, and the Japenese. As I remember correctly, they refused to believe Prowl died in the movie and basically wrote that it was not Prowl that died in the shuttle, but Bluestreak (his brother).

I am sort of glad the cartoons ended when they did. If we saw this crap, we would not like Transformers anymore orwe may not have had discovered Megan Fox.

Because from what I've seen and heard thus far, "Headmasters" rewrites Season 4 of the original cartoon series. So it literally changed the story after the first series ended. Plus it was only in Japan. So doesn't that right there show that there are two "G1" continuities?

well this is a break off from the american storyline, this is the first fully japanese show and the story and charaacters change a lot from the american version starting with the ova scramble city.

No, he didn't. Only Prowl, Ironhide, Ratchet, Brawn, Windcharger and Wheeljack were 100% offed in the movie. Anyone else who didn't appear later on was assumed to have bought the farm, too.

the japanese version is seperate from the english-labguage one, they have their own names for things (the decepticons being called 'Destron's et al.) if you don't like it too bad, don't be pushing your beliefs onto other cultures :P Besides, the japanese audience supported the transformers series enough for it to be able to make a few more of the original series when american/english-speaking markets couldn't seem to

Where they would be all kinda same colour just different looks, cause cybertronians copied human vehicles (and vehicle colours) when they came to earth but all cartoons forgets it.... Hound, Sideswipe and Smokescreen weren't officially killed in the movie, and along with Warpath, Powerglide, Seaspray, Tracks, Sunstreaker, Skyfire, Omega Supreme, Cosmos etc. were planned to be cast more regularly in Headmasters, but at last these projects failed :( ...

The whole intent of TFTM is to clear out as much of the 1984-1985 lines as possible.

So, if you don't see them (not counting animation errors) in Season 3, they're dead.

When Rebirth ended, it also ended the transformers hip on the US, but in japan, they were still popular, but rebirth was so horrendous than the japanese decided to make their own series, in fact, the reason that the animation is a bit crudy is because they tried to copy some of the korean animation of season 3 (the japanese animated season 1, part of 2, the movie,and some episodes of season 3, but americans retained control)

well, actually, it never was stated whether or not hound and sideswipe were killed. there is no canonical evidence to either prove or disprove the possibility and as for hound, the writers actually wanted to give him a more regular spot in the 3rd season but the higher ups wanted to focus more on the newer characters instead.

The movie was never released in Japan, so the Japanese audience wouldn't know about their deaths. They'd just assume the series stopped focusing on them. When they split the show off into Headmasters, they just took advantage of that fact and ignored the final episode.

Actaully neither hound nor Sideswipe was killed in the movie. First Sideswipe wasn't even in TF the movie and Hound was only should near the shuttle then Optimus was about to fight Megatron for the last time.

Because Marvel and Mattel didn't think a headmaster series would do good here in the US and so they ended the Transformer series after the epsiode of Rebirth because it would lead into a new series called Head master transformers. But they still went with the Japanese version of Headmaster. Even tho it is nothing like the american counter part.
