Well.. As far as I know, you can train any kung fu system. But you might want to consider that the rules in these competitions may limit some stiles more than others. If you only want to compete you should perhaps just train sanshou (aka sanda).

Well Sanda literally means "freefight" as far as I know, anything under the catagory of Wushu, or Chinese martial arts is alowed. But Sanda nowdays has become its own style, Sanda is a Hybrid kung fu system consisting of different martial arts, mostly Chinese. I heard they also took some from MuayThai, but I dont know.

ok, let me try to explain if im right... Wushu is the name of the game, there are three categories, San Shou is the Kickboxing with take down part, Taulo is the form thats requirs extreme speed and flexibility which is Jet li's game, last is the Tai chi, every one knows that... and WUSHU is better known as Kung Fu in the west... and Kung Fu means "man of hardship..."

In the west "Kung fu" means chinese punching, kicking, and grappling. Its a genaric term used for most all asian (even not kung fu) martial arts. Most westerners dont know about MuayThai, or wing chun, Silat, Eskrima, its all Kung fu to most people. The only one most people can reconize is Karate and KungFu only cause the clothes. You basically understand what Kung fu means. Its not only hitting, example. If your a noodle maker, and your the most badass noodle maker ever, your kung fu lol
