  • so he wants America to be more out spoken and not fascist? hey vote democrat

  • Awesome propaganda video, im sure FOXNews would love it.

  • "America hating". An insult so vague, anyone can interpret it and apply it to anyone who doesn't share their specific views.

  • Ah, so you're not a serious uploader. What's wrong with protesting? At least European countries have some fucking balls. Oh, and you forgot to add clips of the KKK and the westboro baptist church to show how wonderful america is in comparison... oh, wait.

  • What a great job of editing. Someone's done well in their computer courses.

  • So.. what? You're randomly showing issues of a few bad things happening in France? Greece I'll give you, but that's obviously not what Maher meant. As for riots... I'm pretty proud of the French. They're rioting because their government is trying to cut their social security to pay for bullshit they don't... same as America. The French people won't stand for it. We could learn a thing or two.

  • right wing trash

  • @XxUrSoLoStxX However, since it is unlikely that you are capable of doing so, why don’t you look into a mirror and ask yourself “why do I troll youtube, making ignorant statements to educated individuals?”

  • @XxUrSoLoStxX Besides, you are probably the kind of person who believes that Islam, along with wikieaks or anything that opposes your narrow view on the world, needs to be destroyed by the sword of Sarah Palin and company. Please do go on because I have no clue what you are talking about and how what you said has anything to do with what we are talking about. Please respond with an educated response.

  • @XxUrSoLoStxX First off if my religion was Islam, what would that have to do with anything that we are talking about. Are you mentioning Islam because, based on the properganda filled news you watch, ( probably FOX) you believe that Islam expansion into europe is in any way connected to what I said? If so please enlighten us on the connection. I bet you were trying to say that Islam is peaceful? Because you don’t look like you have a clue what you are talking about.

  • Huh and all that came from an immigrant!

  • Actually there are hundreds of yanks in Europe just because of our free health services, perhaps you gun slinging country fucking selfish bastards should get your act together and create one for yourselves?

  • @epsombristol Hundreds of Yanks? You did say hundreds, right? Poor baby. Try several million illegal immigrants draining your health care system and undercutting your wages. If the Yanks are not paying into your system, you should kick them out. P.S. Your health care is not free, unless you are not paying your taxes - even so, it is costing somebody, something, somewhere.

  • @FleetwoodFactor

Most of the european nations have many immigrants a TON from the IRAQ war. (so they really should be sending you guys the bill or that... don't you think?)

btw, can you explain how wages continued to rise all through out the 3 quarters of the 20th century? Did we just not have any immigrants then? when did you're family make it here?

Yes, European universal healthcare is not FREE, it is just CHEAPER and BETTER in every different system that each different country has.

  • @GeffHarker004 The problem isn't immigrants it is aliens who are here illegally. They don't pay taxes. Many don't even speak English. They get paid under the table less than a legal citizen would get because they are afraid of being reported. If we controlled our borders, wages would rise for those jobs that are currently being done by mostly illegal aliens.

  • @FleetwoodFactor Right on, Factor! Unlike the USA dominated by the liberal dems and MSM, in Europe as soon as you get there, THEY MADE YOU PAY PREMIUM for HEALTH CARE. It is NOT A CHOICE. We are borrowing from the Chinese to pay for 12 mil illegals health care, education, incarceration, etc..

  • Oh did I miss out racist, paranoid bible junkies? You should all be proud of Bill he seems to be the only man in your sick media that has any intelligence.

  • dumb video.

  • Well I am English and I don't pay for my healthcare, and roits are a display of democracy. Maybe if right wing Americans weren't sitting at home watching fox news you would riot too and display a little freedom. Europe is far from perfect but I am so glad I dont like in the red neck, bible and gun America you are so proud of. CHILL OUT!

  • I could never imagine spineless Americans becoming more like Europeans, Too greedy, too selfish and too easily fooled by there so called political elite.

  • @XxUrSoLoStxX Are you kidding me? You think his opinions on religion are subjective ideologies? You either don't know him at all or are simply in denial.

  • i bet this fool has ever been to europe (and im talking about fleetwoodfactor). europe, as a whole, is peaceful, prosperous, and progressive. not like the religious conservatives who infect this nation. and thats coming from an active duty member of the air force, not some pot-smoking hippie...

  • @juggaloian0088 Peaceful, prosperous, and progressive? Europe has been the bloodiest continent on the globe for the last few centuries. It was only after we saved them from the Nazi's and helped rebuild them and protect them that they enjoyed any lasting peace. I would like to see the European Union foot the bill for their own defense. And maybe the day will come when we can pull out of Germany as well. Other than the Catholics, most of the "religious conservatives" left Europe for here.

  • @ipodlsnr Yes, peaceful. Do you know ANYTHING about Europe? Apparently not, because I said that Europe, as a whole, IS peaceful, not WAS peaceful. Stop living in the past. They have better healthcare and aren't held back by religion like so much of America is. It's sickening. I could go on and on but I'll spare you my blabbering. I do find it counterproductive though, that you call him "mr maher" yet you edit footage of him to look like a clown and you call him names...

  • @juggaloian0088 I am not FleetwoodFactor. I didn't make the video, but I do like it.

  • @ipodlsnr my apologies

  • You say youtube is for the attention-span challenged, yet you spend 90% more time showing riots than just letting him explain WHY he thinks that. Putting a whole bunch of protests from over the years is pretty useless. Yes, there's a lot of turmoil over there for many different reasons. It says nothing of WHY Bill said what he said. Be more honest next time and let him speak. Obviously he wasn't referring to the occasional violence.

  • @Proghead88 It is not my job or intention to give Bill Maher a venue for his opinion. He has his own show for that and Fareed Zakaria did not challenge him during the interview and, in fact, seemed delighted to agree with Mr. Maher. I am delighted to disagree, as is my right. The entire interview is available on many other YouTube channels.

  • @FleetwoodFactor Why are these morons not moving to Europe? Don't we just love it that Fareed came here, married an American and instead of appreciating America, he spent his hour talking down the country that welcome him.Hey,move back to where you came from, move to Europe. There is no need to remake America, AMERICA IS ALREADY MADE, WE ARE AN EXCEPTIONAL COUNTRY. Maher, Fareed, don't let the door hit you guys on the way out. When you get sick, please get treated in the Paradise of Cuba.

  • @bellini347 The USA is NOT exceptional, and I won't leave till i see the constitution burned.

  • @amsterdam78 Hey, STAY IN AMSTERDAM , we don't need pinkos/socialists in the USA. Anytime disaster strikes, the whole world wants help from America. Have you ever wondered why THE ENTIRE LATIN AMERICA wants to sneak in the USA?? and many Europeans too. I don't see any Americans SNEAKING IN ANY COUNTRY IN EUROPE. I have families in several European countries. We have a lot of Canadian illegal aliens in Calif. If everything is so kewl over there, why are SO MANY CANADIANS HERE?? NUF SAID.

  • @bellini347 I went to university in Amsterdam, lived there for 4 years and a several months. Even after all that I couldn't move no matter how hard i tried. Since I am stuck here, I have made it my goal to bring about a revolution that will end when the constitutions original copy is burned, and a soviet set up to write a new socialist constitution. My organization is one of the largest in the states. As for Canada, I'm calling liar. I would LOVE to see your proof.

  • @amsterdam78 "If you're 20 and not a liberal, you have no heart.

If you are 40 and not a conservative, you have no brain"

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.

Churchill got it right: “Capitalism brings the unequal distribution of blessings; socialism brings the equal distribution of miseries.” If someone as radical Jon Voight could become a conservative, there is hope for you.

  • @bellini347 u bent welkom. Doei!

  • @bellini347 but isn't you're argument here showing the virtue of moderation and rejection of extremes?

So claiming that ALL WEALTH should be shared equally is just as flawed as stating pure capitalism should be allowed to flourish uninterrupted ignoring all impoverishing consequences?

Hence, I support a strong state with the interest of the total population as it's goal working with the interest of private capitol. Combining the wisdom of age with the compassion of youth.

  • @GeffHarker004 I agree with your reasonable comment but l beg to differ on your statement that European universal health care is better or cheaper. Madonna sensed she was going to have complication w her pregnancy. She flew to LA and had her life saved at Cedar Sinai hospital where my daughter worked.

She had an emergency surgery. Sadly my eldest sister did not have the means to do so, SHE DIED IN CHILDBIRTH. It was so painful, right in Paris, she died needleslly . Any more questions?

  • @bellini347 Do you have a degree from Glenn Beck U?

  • @amsterdam78 No, sorry to disappoint you , I have an American doctorate degree. I don't understand your life story. As far as I know this is a free country and NOBODY IS HOLDING YOU HOSTAGE. If you don't like our way of life, MOVE BACK PRONTO TO anywhere in Europe . In FRANCE most people spent 365 days planning for their vacation and did not mind living in a 2br apt w 1 toilet . Everybody is happy because they have not tasted freedom. Move to Russia to live w yr comrades.

  • @bellini347 I'm sorry to say this, but I would get my Money back from your school. If you're not lying. You don't have the slightest idea what it takes to move to Europe or even Russia. Americans that live overseas feel guilty for all they get, and the vast majority of them work for American companies with offices overseas. The USA lets you in, but unless you're Mexican, they don't let you out. It's simple, the US Empire needs a steady flow of working poor to keep the bloated economy going.

  • @amsterdam78 it looks like you are not working. I take early retirement and can afford the time trying to RE-EDUCATE A lib. My own sis lives 8 months in Paris, 4 months in calif. she owns a condo in Paris so everything I said about Europe I speak from experience. Geluk !There is hope for you! For now, sigh...

  • @bellini347 I'm a Sociology Professor in Fort Lauderdale, And yes I teach socialism, mostly. I come from 3 generations of Revolutionary Socialists, If you don't count my great great uncle who was George Engel, one of the Haymarket Martyrs that started May Day. You have a smattering of relatives that spent time in Europe, I spent over 4 years living under a social system. I can say with all truth that only 1% of Europeans would move to the US other then a visit for the experience.

  • @bellini347 The majority on Europeans consider the United States as a second rate country. They just can't believe we work so hard for so little, and that heath care is "a la cart". The European worker lives a good and healthy life, knowing his basic needs will, for now, be taken care of. I tell my students how much time Europeans work, and how much they get; compared to Americans that work themselves into the grave. Despite all this, Europeans are just as productive as Americans, more so even.

  • @bellini347 Also, I would like to say I do not have a PHD, I have two Masters. One from Miami in sociology, and another from University of Amsterdam in international studies.

  • @Proghead88 All of the riots and turmoil shown in the video is from the last two years.

  • We call them protest over here dont know what your point is mate.

  • Comment removed

  • And this, kids, is what we call taking a clip out of context.

  • call me unamerican all you want- i love this country and i hate it sometimes- i hate its phony wars in iraq- in latin america- i hate its policing of the world- i hate its love of greed and polluting of the world- i love its generous people its beautiful landscapes- see theres nothing wrong with hating the things in your country that shame its legacy and its potential- people who love america without question arent patriots they are sheep- by the way im an ex marine so dont call me a commie

  • Greetings from Europe where we all riot in the streets all day every day.

  • @lulusername HAHAHA! The best comment in this entire page by far!

  • Have you ever noticed that the self-rightous are always so certain and always so WRONG!! Nothing in this world is black and white no matter how much you want it to be. If helping people in need is socialism then we should be socialists, or if you want a better word CHRISTIANS. Sorry

  • @bf526 Thank you for agreeing with me about the self-righteous Mr. Maher. He does seem to speak with certainty, yet he is quite wrong. The people rioting in Europe are not people in need. They are people who have let their governments tax them with the promise of entitlements that cannot be sustained. When the work force goes into retirement for longer than they paid into the system, the promise cannot be kept and the the resulting austerity measures are what's bugging them now.

  • @bf526 P.S. Jesus Christ never advocated the forced giving unto others at the point of the government spear.

  • @FleetwoodFactor because he assumed a true christian wouldnt need the sword pressed against him to do his living word!

  • All these clips show citizens protesting to protect their rights. Americans will never be motivated enough or even care enough about themselves or their country to actually do something about the situation here. Which definitely sets us apart from Europe.

  • @Leaderspdx

Not rly. Most of these are civil servants unwilling to give up their juicy pensions when their govts r in need of austerity measures. Do ur research b4 commenting.

  • @Leaderspdx What did you think the Tea Party movement was about?

  • @ipodlsnr protecting the rich - not the middle class or poor- but the corporations- the tea party is funded by neocon pro corporate shrills who want to deregulate even more - do they want to cut defense- end the war in iraq- no! where were they when Bush was spending like a drunkard too?

  • @salvadory I'm with you about Bush. The Republicans went along with his spending. He created Medicare Part D with no way to pay for it. Bush was a big government Republican and progressive in some of his thinking. That's why the Republicans lost congress and the White House.

  • Americans have a lot to learn from Europe but they are to self in love and self righteous to realize that they need to learn from older cultures around the world. It is easier to believe you are the best when you stick your head in the sand and claim a special place you actually don't have.

  • All your clips show workers and students standing up for their rights, are you saying that Americans are to stupid to stand up for themselves? I lived in Europe, and America pails in comparison in every way possible.

  • @amsterdam78 They let themselves be taxed into oblivion to get the government sponsored goodies and now they are dependent upon government instead of themselves. In America, we are trying to nip this practice in the bud. If we fail, we will follow the Europen path of self-destruction. The more people get from governmen, the less they do for themselves. Some of us don't want that to happen. I invite everyone who thinks Europe has a better system to move there, permenently, including Mr. Maher.

  • @FleetwoodFactor I had lived in Amsterdam for 4 years, and even after that, I still couldn't get citizenship. I was totally demoralized when I set foot back on this sour soil. It was at that time that I devoted my life to re-education and activism to build a whole new America. One built on people before profits. Where politicians are paid a workers salary and are not allowed to even take a Christmas card from a lobbyist. Americans can learn a lot about humility from Europeans.

  • @amsterdam78 Isn't that interesting. The USA is the only country with broad social programs that lets in tens of millions of aliens, both legal and illegal, and has people trying to allow them to become citizens. We can't afford the programs we have now, let alone allow millions more to go on the government rolls. Try to find another country where that is going on.

  • @ipodlsnr england - they offer universal healthcare- welfare etc- to everyone!

  • @salvadory So you're saying anyone can move to England and live off the government? They don't even have to become citizens? (BTW: Did you hear about that man in Britain that called the police from his hospital room because no one would give him anything to drink?)

  • @ipodlsnr The libs are destroying our country. My local paper had an article

about how Juarez emptied itself of 230,000 citizens, GUESS WHERE THEY MOVED TO? it said El Paso population was 740,000 ( no mentioning how many are illegals, that's yellow journalism for you). I don't know what's the population in Juarez but at this rate, it will be a ghost town and EP will have the population of Beijing sooner than later. Until we secure our border, we will be bankrupted like Greece. Why is Maher here

  • @FleetwoodFactor

I dont think its the taxes that r the problem. If u pay a high amount of taxes but the country gives u a shitload of programs in return without bankrupting anyone, great. However, I think in times of austerity, the refusal of the union workers to compromise and work with the govt is absurd. Some of these programs (pension and benefits) do require severe cutbacks in order to balance the budget. Yet, these workers remain stubborn as we see in the video.

  • @chrish767 Maybe you should work 30 or 40 years taking less up front to have a retirement thats safe and just up and give it away because of the starve the beast politics of the right. Heck them 55 year olds can start over

  • @bf526

However, if u have less ppl paying into the system, is it rly sustainable for the future? Currently, the Canadian system is safe for 75 years period. We cant say the same for some of these other countries. Moreover, we r talking about public servants here. NOT private employees.

  • @FleetwoodFactor Mr Maher has a right to any opinion he wants and can live here if he wants- how phony of you to claim to be more of an american yet advocate people who have legimate issues with america to move to other countries- funny how you blame the unions etc when the truth is the bankers brokers and the government itself caused the economic crisis- people before profits isnt socialist- its common sense christian belief- im middle class barely and i still give alot of money to charity

  • @salvadory I'm not going to address the irony of you defending Bill Maher's right to express his opinion about America, while criticizing me for expressing my opinion about Maher, but I will point out that I did not mention unions in any of my previous comments. How astute of you to realize that they are the problem. It is the public sector unions' negotiation of unmanageable retirement and pension plans (paid for by taxpayers) that are at the heart of the European problem.

  • @salvadory It is also why many US cities and states are in big financial trouble now. The public sector jobs do not need union protection. They already have a monopoly on whatever jobs they perform. To broaden their power through unionization is politically and fiscally irresponsible. Thank you for your service to our country.

  • @FleetwoodFactor do i think unions need to make concessions yes for sure- but theres a war from the neocons on minimum wage- on workers rights and demonizing unions(gee i wonder why) because it cuts into profits) Unions for the most part are responisble for every workers right this country has-- neverless ofcourse theres corruption and i favor cleaning house and unions conceding some of the more cadillac plans they recieve- but in general unions are there for fair pay and workers rights

  • @salvadory You are failing to distinguish between Private Sector Unions (which still have a place in society) and the Public Sector Unions. In the Private Sector, the Pensions and Retirement Plans are paid for by the (Evil) profits made by the Private Sector Employers. The Public Sector Pensions and Retirement Plans in Public Sector jobs are are paid for by taxpayers. That's when the governments get into trouble and have to take the drastic austerity measures that are happening in Europe.

  • @FleetwoodFactor but who cries when the public sector employees dont plow their streets? or when teachers( who in fact are incredibly underpaid for what they do- educate our children) my parents were both in education my mom taught worked 50 hours plus a week and made 24.000 a year after her class year after year tested well above the national average- my dad was a pe instructor and soccer coach(he made 26,000) a year- cops put their life on the lines (avg sal-35,000) whos draining taxes???

  • @FleetwoodFactor funny how you dont mention the senators and congressman(ofcourse republicans included) who get the best healthcare- retirement and cadillac plans more than any top union boss) like i said im for some reform but you guys like to blame the little guys(teachers cops garbagemen) when the rich and bankers and congress etc are the ones really robbing us blind when it comes to benefits

  • @salvadory There are a limited number of senators and congressmen. I believe we should change their benefits. If it not for the bank bailouts, the rich bankers would be paying for the benefits of quite a few. We've known the Medicare and Social Security were going to fail for a long time. The Baby-Boomers are just starting to reach benefit age and then the economy collapsed. If we are going to survive as a nation, we have to take drastic measures right now to change course and stop the bleeding.

  • @ipodlsnr well lets see who lost trillions of dollars worth of pensions that cost us tax payers- the unions no- it was wall street brokers and bankers and our federal officials- thats my point- ps social security is well managable(even republicans have said this)- im all for raising the retirement age- cutting some benefits etc- but those blaming unions for the recent economy is laughable- enron and merryl lynch cost us more than all the unions in the country would in twenty years

  • @amsterdam78

While I am a supporter of social programs (health care, education, a good pension system), some of the workers demands r absurd. Examples: 35 hour work week, refusing to cut the pension system in austerity times, opposing sales tax increments, refusing to work longer hours etc. Unfortunately, that system is falling apart and we need to start looking at the Asian system of productivity and economics.

  • a contest : whos a bigger idiot Maher or Micheal Moore? Fat for brains or Fat for brains? Maher couldnt cut it as an actor, but found out he can run a mouth of vomit, both have NO country

  • @beyondalohas Nice ad hom, no content, comment.

  • How come the scandinavian countries, wich have a socialistic system, got the best economy in the world? o.O

  • @lagemegnorsk

How come China, Singapore Brazil which are moving towards mainstream-radical free markets were greatly unaffected by the recession?

  • Strange that an informed public is justifibly angry that their governments are dicking them and footing them with the bill and would show genuine rage. While a pacified ill informed public would get dicked, be footed with the bill and vote the people who dicked them the hardest back in.

  • When you make people dependent upon the government for their existence, they become angry when there is any problems arrive. They expect "The Government" to take care of everything. America was founded to have a limited government that allows people to exercise their God given rights, not get by on government hand-outs. I fear that if too many in our nation turn from God, they will willingly give up their own rights to those who will readily lord over them.

  • You may be right about Bill Maher but why don't you show the whole conversation instead of one sentence. It's easy to take a line out of context to suit your own ends. By your rationale, I could get a clip indicating Sarah Palin agrees with all of Obama's policies FFS.

  • @bigkahunauk1 Are you implying that Bill Maher doesn't actually agree with his statement as presented? From what I've seen, that statement is in line with Mr. Maher's beliefs.

  • @ipodlsnr Typical spin on Youtube. Put both sides of the argument and let the viewer decide. The way that one line can be taken out of context is totally disingenuous which suggests the argument is not strong enough to be supported on its own merits. If the statement is in line with Mr Maher's beliefs, then show the whole clip not just a soundbite. Not exactly 'Fair and Balanced' :)

  • @bigkahunauk1 - I analyzed thousands of comments made by Bill Maher regarding his opinion of America over the past 10 years and condensed them into the single comment used in this video. YouTube is a medium for the attention span challenged. I'm just doing my part. Your idea about the Palin Vid sounds like a funny one. Shoot me a line when you post it and I'll check it out. FF

  • Europe doesn't have Bill Maher the idiot extraordinaire ...... so at least they've got that going for em.

  • LOL! Great video, the thing I wonder is...if these unhappy socialists don't like America why can they just chooses a despotic third world country to wallow miserably in?

  • All of these protests in European countries were sparked by their governments' clampdown on social spending in wake of the economic crisis (a capitalism-generated crisis) Therefore their governments have a tougher time imposing austerity measures. But so? The protests aren't proof that socialist policies are bad which is the point you're trying to prove.

  • @garconchaud How is Europe's failed attempt at "Cradle to Grave" entitlements a capitalism-generated crisis?

  • I don't agree that it has failed. The economic crisis most of the world is going through is essentially a problem created in America by unscrupulous real estate investors. The crises in Greece, Ireland, Spain, Britain are aftershocks from the US bubble collapse of 2008. Facing budgetary collapses, governments are reducing funding of social services rather than imposing taxes on the wealthy or cutting military spending, and this is leading to conflict between citizens and governments.

  • @FleetwoodFactor The point is that what you call cradle-to-grave entitlements were more than affordable up until the housing meltdown in the United States. And the housing meltdown is essentially a capitalist crisis because it was private firms and individuals who turned the American housing industry into a ticking time bomb over the last 5-10 years.

  • @garconchaud Couldn't agree more.

  • @FleetwoodFactor I think yoiu need to read his comment one more time. Maybe you'll understand it... If not, go back to school.

  • @garconchaud

I think it was "crony capitalism" that became the problem in the US. If it was capitalism that was the problem, why was China, a country engaging in radical capitalism that I cannot support, unaffected by this crisis. Socialist policies arent bad per se when TIMES ARE GOOD. but when ur socialist govt in greece for example is pleading with the country to support its cutbacks to benefits and these protesters are saying no, it becomes absurd and they should not go unharm.

  • @garconchaud A capitalism generated crisis? Let's not forget that Democrats like Barney Frank leaned on the banking industry and left wing groups like ACORN filed numerous lawsuits under the Community Reinvestment Act to force banks to make loans to people who could not afford to pay back the money. The Janet Reno Justice Department threatened to come down on banks that did not comply. That started in the 1990's and didn't end until the whole house of cards collapsed.

  • Anarchy is exactly what these far-left celebrities liberals like Bill Maher want, never thinking of the consequences. Meanwhile they are safe and secure in thier estates, walled and gated to keep those they try to propel to anarchy...OUT!

  • @dantheleo That would be the far right as well. He is a liberal version of your beloved Rush Limbaugh. Both of these parties are identical. They both do the same things when they have power. They both do the same things when the other party is in power. And "We The People" just keep eating up all their bullshit.

  • I have no words that truly describe, how utterly vacant this man really is.
