  • i want the shirt shes wearing

  • amazing girl. so dope, cant get enough of the album either. there really is nothing like it

  • Amazing, talented & beautiful woman. Personally I don't get the MIA comparisons, although I like her too, but Santogold is in a league of her own...Love her album.

  • shes hot.

  • Refreshing...Different...Boldly herself. She ruled the Beastie Boy's "Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win"

  • Her album was amazing! I have never heard anything like it

  • Slayer t-shirt!

  • Articulate! Love this<3

  • new album please........ thank you

  • i think she is a very creative and intelligent human being, regardless of color, i wish her the best of luck in her career. I don't have a doubt in my mind she wont succeed.

  • She's not from Brooklyn. Philadelphia.

  • I Love this girl!!!!

  • hell the women of color are the most beautiful never-aging females there are =)

  • She's one of the better "newer" artists around today :)

    Love the style.

    Keep it up girl!!!

  • Oh this is just like "Awesome and Original".

  • love her style, she's amazing.

  • I love her album! every damn song!!!!

  • Fuck yeah she's wearing a slayer shirt!! lol :) hell yeaaah!

  • Seriously, when is the sophomore album? Lights Out is my all time favourite, alongside I'm A Lady, but I'm dying for some new songs by this epic artist. She really has mastered genreless music.

  • Her personality makes her so hot ;D

  • I like the slayer shirt! :-)

  • two things about her: powerful 'n cute. too cute ..

  • Comment removed

  • Her music is so amazing.. I'm just wishing for a second album at this point lol. I'm Not a Lady is maybe my favourite song by her.

  • santogold is so sexy to me and i want to marry her and im a str8 female, lol

  • omg, i neva knew santogold was black!!

  • Her singing voice is so much different from her talking voice

  • black women often have super unique voice. love it.

  • im 44 and white, she is awsome, yes the sterotyping is bs and i wish people could get over it, she reminds me of singer from missing persons from the 80s with a twist, her dancers need to move a little more though...

  • She's has a great camera presence.

  • I didn't expect her to have this kind of accent. She just gained like +1,000 respect points from me. :3

  • I've never heard her actually speak until now. She sounds very girly as opposed to some of her music. Awesome

  • Thank you for doing something different!

  • She's amazing... She's right, she's really like no other artist. So innovative.

  • by the way. She's from Philly.

  • wwaiting for that new album...

  • my new favorite artist!!!

  • @halabalamen check your grammer

  • @Dasanmitchellboy *grammar Check you spelling. lol

  • @C0DEW0lF My spell check isn't working XD

  • @halabalamen how so?

    care to ellaborate?

  • I LOVE HER! she's so eloquent...and her lyrics are phenomenal. START A REVOLUTION PEOPLE! we have the power.

  • Listen Santigold/Santogold is the same thing. Everyone is spelling it correctly. She just changed it to Santigold because of legal issues stop getting your panties in a bunch because of the different spellings.

But I think she is very different from M.I.A, she sounds more like the police to me.

Like she said M.I.A is more of a rapper <3

  • Hahh! Diggin the Slayer shirt!

  • Comment removed

  • LOVE THE sLAYER!!

  • I hate that no one spells her name right

  • MIA's from Sri Lanka

  • cool

  • she used to go to my school

  • Her album is just Golden!!! No pun intended

  • God....She is frigging SEXY!

  • She's into slayer too? Ok...i love her now.

  • I love how she breaks away from the African American artist stereotype. Lover her!

  • @wefwef08 I agree. I LOVE TO see Black people break stereotypes! It's refreshing. This is coming from a Black girl criticized for not acting stereotypical.

  • @Neutralbuttafly totally agree.

  • @Neutralbuttafly I get it everyday, so I understand what you are saying.

  • Stop ur bikkering all I know is that she is very talanented and she can get the dick lol 4rom me..

  • I agree with you there JiNmUgEnFuU231...ever listen to her song "You Will Find A Way" then listen to "Freedom Of Choice" by Devo? She changed the lyrics, but they sound the same. The two are very comparable in my opinion.

  • So comparable in fact that Santi is producing (at least in part), Devo's new album.

  • SLAYER!!!!!!

  • I realy enjoy Santogold's music. I think her ,M.I.A and even Jada Smith (Will's Wife her group Wicked wisdom) R opening up new avenues of music and not just sticking to R&B because they r black. Its great what they are doing. We should embrace all music....

  • M.I.A aint black!

  • She never said M.I.A. was black...she said "women of color". M.I.A. has color right or wrong? Ok, then.

  • @qevans03 people are so damn stupid im hispanic im a women of color

  • @qevans03 Exactly

  • Mia aint white either

  • No she isn't, she is of Indian descent.

  • But M.I.A. IS a woman of color. So no she isnt white....she isnt black...but she IS a woman of color. Shes brownLOL

  • @Elsid1111 duh

  • @dissidia123456789 I was replying to someone who said she was, rather rude of you and foolish assumption.

  • Ahh she's gorgeous. And I love her music.

  • try to listen to the music thst she says influences her and you'll prolly like them too...I am an 80's kid, and all her music has some sort of 80's group influence. It is kinda different the 80's is coming back!

  • hahaha!! NO! EVERYTHING IS GREEK!! :D

  • She's definitely go something here! I really like her album, but there is a comparable song. "Creator" is comparable to M.I.A's "Shells". Who's with me?

  • Comment removed

  • she meant a woman of color as in a minority...as in.."Not white"....anything not white is consdered "of color" i dont think she specifially meant black.

  • Comment removed

  • by women of color she means basically not white,.. like a colored ethnicity

  • @Starstruck212, i dont know hey, i think it just makes sense that "of colour" means someone who has that brown pigment, it just makes sense, white people->least; black people->

  • @ kataedza i was thinking the same but some dumb ass people gave me thumbs down for stating my opinion like everyone else does when commenting on a video

  • This post makes absolutely no sense.

  • good for you, glad you live in fucking retarded ass europe, obviously no one gives a fuck and you're right dont consider yourself part of this amazing group of people

  • shit......

  • I love her music. period

  • Why is everything about race grow up!!

  • Love that she's wearing a Slayer tshirt.

  • OMG, come on she ain't a diva!

  • she s beautiful!

  • I'm so glad I discovered her. Can't wait for her next release.

  • You and I both! I routinely search google for any word on a next release.

  • she is awesome

  • Yall are dumb. Women of color IS referring to race and means a woman who is not white. Nor is it a racist term. What she said made perfect sense.

  • That album is so damn good. Her lyrics are surprisingly deep.

  • They seem superficial, but are truly deep when you give it a good listen.

  • Seriously. I was blown away when I read her lyrics. From what I heard, M.I.A.'s are good, too. Very different.

  • Wow! Slayer! :D

  • omg shes so pretty and so unique...and the color thing meant uniquess, talent, style and things along those lines

    love her♥

  • she's an amazing unique person peace

  • anyone think she sounds like missing persons from the 80's? please no responses from rascists...thanks.

  • You talk about colored of somebody or about an artist? 'cause isn't the subject, u know, i don't understand why the people back always to the skin color.

  • It's that prick 1BanginB.

He hears her say she and M.I.A are coloured and takes it literally.

She means they are different to all the boring stuff that's around at the moment.

And before you say anything I'm not talking about colour of skin. I'm talking about music.

  • The NAACP (National Association of COLORED people)

Women of color means women who aren't white -- Indian women are considered "women of color"

I'm sorry man but 1BanginB is right -- in this interview Santigold is referring to race....not in a racist way but she's saying people see two "women of color" pushing boundaries and lump them together.

  • she is def talking about race but why is everybody spelling colored with a

    "U"?

  • how can she suck?? she has a SLAYER shirt!!

  • Brooklyn Diva? Look it up in Wikipedia... She was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA

Other web sites show: Born in Philadelphia, Santogold (née Sandi White) fronted punk bands and studied hand drumming at Wesleyan University.

  • Santigold is frickin awesome, such a unique chick love it.

  • shes so cute

  • you way better than mia

bx all day with you god

  • is she indian?

  • no, african american.

  • The politically correct term is Black. African American is too limited, some people like to identify themselves to be from Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, etc.

  • Wow ive never heard her do an interview before. She speaks very intellectual and she is correct she sings, MIA raps. There is no one who sounds like her. She is very orignial. I love her!

  • "genre less" i like that term!!!! she truely is genre less!! i love her music!!

  • her shirt is badassssssss!

  • You have to be black to be a person of color?

  • is she white?? nooooo. if you're not white, you're colored ,bud.

  • Coloured is racist.

Say it to a black person if you have the guts.

  • did u watch the interview? she said M.I.A was a woman of color, and other ppl. on here are saying she aint cus she aint black. i'm saying if u're not white then ur colored. im not saying it in a racist way. i aint white

  • She said they were women of colour.

That means character, talent, personality and artistically etc.

Now I've got a question - do you always take what you hear so literally?

    Jesus.

  • no i dont. i was responding to another idiot who said MIA isnt considered "colored"

  • So why did I get a message saying I had a reply?

You need to decide who you're responding to.

  • How do you know what she meant? It sounded to me like she meant women of color and I'm no racist or simpleton. How about a question for you - are you always so condescending when expressing opinions, do you always think what you say is fact? You're a loudmouth ignorant, in my opinion.

  • Simpletons can't spell colour.

    I'm English and speak English.

You're a distorted idiot, in my opinion.

  • That's right I'm not from America.

I say 'coloured' because I am from England where we speak REAL English.

  • Just because your from England doesn't make it "Real" English all language came from the same place latin so why does it matter

  • What a failure of a comment. All language came from latin? So what did the Egyptiant speak? Or the greeks?

  • or the sumerians =P

  • i don't understand why your making a big deal out of it. i basically asked a ?. no need to take offense.

  • If you know I'm not American then you know only too well why I spell it 'colour'.

I take offense because of your ignorance.

  • i didn't know i was inquiring because you said the person spelled it wrong but this conversation is really pointless i feel so have a nice day sir

  • Wow, you are so clever.

  • I heard the album, I think it's very good and if I had to categorize it in a single word it would be "eclectic", but I wouldn't be surprised to see it called "rock" or even "punk rock" though that wouldn't do it justice either.

  • didnt you hear her? she said that she was influiend by punk styles so she would like a band like Slayer Santogold is so awesome!!

  • Santogold is maxim best, my favorite

  • M.i.a doesnt have shit on you :)

  • Why is she wearing a Slayer shirt? She hardly seems like a metal or thrash fan.

  • can't judge a book by it's cover =]

  • i was just thinking that...what does a metal or thrash fan supposed to look like

  • exactly, bluescarlet11 is definitely on a high school mentality to still think you have to dress a certain way to like a certain something

  • ironic value perhaps?

  • I think Santogold and M.I.A should make a song together

  • They already did........

  • 0o0o shit anotha white person actin tuff on youtube lmao....dats da only time dey can speak thier mind wen dey on da cpu lol fukin lames

  • dis eva person is fukin dum nd IS tryin to b racist dats y white ppl b scared of black ppl cuz dey dont kno how to stfu but dey act tuff on da internet sayin racist shit....LMAO fukin lames......every white persons a gangsta on youtube lol

  • Who are you talking about??

  • Thats what you call fake and being something your not soo if you like that then your only as fake as what you write... Right now your looking fake as shit so don't even bother writing back shit face.

  • Wow, she's cool! @nd i think the music video has a great climate. Her songs are (who would think) fresh, i mean, it's a new way of music styles.

  • Thats what makes her so cool!

  • I didn't know there were hot black chicks with punk rock influence and a voice of gold ....wow.

  • the difference is that she's BETTER than M.I.A....simple and plain

  • I guess some of their beats are similar, that's as far as I would go with the comparisons. Is it just me or is she way cuter here than in her videos?

  • Comment removed

  • i digg her style

  • SLAYER!

  • Her and MIA are so original. Ive NEVER heard anyone else like them. Both freaking amazing.

  • She is wearing a slayer t-shirt now I'm truly in love now

  • i love her! i love you santoooo:)

  • she talks right

  • would it matter if she didnt?

  • Why is it when someone who is black talks with intelligent diction is "talking White"?...your comment is asinine.

  • What exactly does intelligent diction mean? I'm white, I think she's beautiful and I love her music. She's an excellent, unique musician, and I wish her the best in years to come.

To be honest, judging by the music and her voice, when I heard her on the radio a woman of color didn't come to mind. That's my own bias/xp working against me of course. She talks right is just as asinine a comment. Whatever way she's comfortable talking is the right way, who gives a shit what other people think

  • She talks normally, not all 'gangsterd out'. She has proper, educated grammer. Thank God.

  • Ah c'mon, it's just standard English. I'd almost call it so standard it's boring, but that's just me.

Anyway, when it comes down to it, the way she talks while conversing has nothing to do with her musical talent. I seriously doubt God would expect some thanks for that. What difference does it make, Eva?

On the topic of grammar, though I'm no pro at English, I'm pretty sure it's "gangstered-out." Maybe you just made a typo, though.

For some reason that word you made reminds me of turd.

  • Im not sure where your going with this, and im going to try to be as litttle racist as possible when I say this,

When I say she dosent sound like a gangster-brookklyn-hard-ass, I mean most people of black colour sound like theyre being tough and stuff. Im really trying to to be racist when I say this, because ushally the 'average, steryotypical' black woman has bad grammer. :\

  • trying not to be ****

  • I was just trying to understand why you're so happy that she speaks standard English, that's all. Judging by how many grammar and spelling mistakes you've made, I really don't think you're in any position to judge the standard English proficiency of others.

I think my English sucks, but after seeing yours it makes me feel like a badass. Thanks, Eva.
