  • @asdf34343ify man, you're a sad sad little kid. making multiple accounts for shittalking? im not trying to dis-respect you, we all have our own vibes, but could you please keep the vulgarity out of beautiful music videos? im just asking politely..

seriously man, there's no room for that here. you can tell he messed up, he showed it in his facial expression. nobody here is bashing him for it. he's a great musician (prob the best) and i've met him personally. just chill please

  • I like it better then the original

  • He makes a lot of mistakes i would bet. As soon as he doesn't have the echo or reverb he sounds duller, but playing a solid body guitar gives you the extra sustain naturally. He plays the strat exclusively. He sounds good, but consider Clapton uses a strat and no effects and gets sustain naturally from the volume. I don't like Gilmour and Clapton's solos very much anymore because they overplay the same phrase in the middle of the solo when they used to play less and choose brilliant notes.

  • @asdf34343ify Thanks for that. At least a few people get it.

  • hahaha i truly love this guy!!!! the cutest mistake ever!!!!!

  • Actually this makes me feel good. It's somehow reassuring to know that even the best of the best have their "off" moments :). Makes me feel not so bad about making mistakes during a gig. All you can do is laugh it off and get back to work. I admire that.

  • i hate dumbass people arguing over a 1 minute video

  • At least you know it is really live and not lipsinking shit.

  • Until Gilmour says it doesnt matter. If it was a missed cue then I feel better about my performance mis-haps. If it was intentional then it's his song to do what he likes with. I just love the cheeky grin after that either says 'That fooled them' or 'oops' . Lets not get our panties in a bunch :-)

  • Who knows what the F, if he was enjoying himself too much, could not hear, just forgot, wanted it different, Etc, Etc. Maybe he did sing but the Mic was still down?

  • Or maybe, its his song, and he can do whatever the fuck he wants with it.

  • Oh, i thought for a moment he missed a note on his guitar.

This would have divided the universe by zero.

  • He was high and sleepy...give him a break !

  • Big deal, still the greatest band in history.

  • Dave said "so", he just said too heavenly for mortals to hear him

  • what year please?

  • hes like oh well screw it and laughs hard in his head.

  • he only human for fuck sake people!!!!

  • thats the thing about being live you never know what will happen

  • He was just trying out a van thing. Van always does that with his songs

  • i love how he recovers from it with just a cheeky eyebrow raise ha

  • WOW, people are conflicting on this.... people are stupid! what would Gilmour say ? probably... "I wish you would all Shut Up, It's getting rather boring"

  • YoLplsBest ....so you've heard him play sloppy? I tend to suspect either your hearing or your, erm, shall we say Temporary State Of Mind? I seriously doubt it was his playing. You see how abashed he was at missing his cue?

  • maybe he is putting a new spin on a performance

  • And yet he can still pull it off.

  • No lesser the genius, legend, demi-god in my book!

  • Well, I've heard him play sloppy but this is new.

  • Did anyone ever fucking consider that maybe he just felt like not saying "so" to start the song? If you asked him about it he might just say, "Well........it was a fucking live show and I guess I just didn't feel like saying it that time." And yes he does say fuck from time to time. Gilmour is awesome.

  • @apage251 hey fuck face, what's with the nasty ass attitude, did you happen to stand on shit today?

  • @hunkydorey2 Lmao ..People get so offended . He did miss his cue .. Only time ive heard it from Gilmour and heard a miscue from Rush on Show of hands during 2112 ..Thanks for the upload

  • @apage251 Well you can see on his face he missed the cue, the way he lifts his eyebrows and smiles as if to say "Opps." But hey, he's David Gilmour, he can do whatever he wants.

  • @apage251 - He obviously missed it. And the crowd and he acknowledged it. Not a big deal.

  • so there you go folks he's HUMAN!!!!

  • Brian May?!

  • and YES.the "so" is a big deal.

it sets the stage for the lyrics and for us,in everyday conversation.its a 'pivot'.

think about it. where would you be without "so"?

  • he picked that up nicely.good save! as they say :)

  • big deal.

  • Great recovery, great smile :)

  • Wow, people really get boners about Gilmour I guess. I think he's a great player, but, not trolling, he really isn't all that.

  • fuck that was exciting! seriously

  • hunkydorey2 I love it! Good for you having a sense of humour!! Dave Gilmour is KING......would He object tomme calling Him Dave????

  • You need to get out more honey..............

  • @jammyjimmy1358 if i got out anymore i would be homeless :)

  • This is what makes a man real, and not a jackass who lipsynces.. :) i almost teared.

  • that look is priceless!

  • All that happened is that he skipped saying "So". Is it really that big of a deal?

  • @redrover327 yes, it is big deal, Gilmour is known for his perfectionism, so when he makes a mistake, its awesome.

Not because he made the mistake in the first place, but because HE CAN IN FACT MAKE A MISTAKE, it's rare

  • @hunkydorey2 In Venice in the audience and the stage was the sea, David expected that the public began the first verse, but the water has absorbed the voices...

  • @redrover327 To a Floydy that's akin to blasphemy they're are pretty full on the true Floyd fan

  • Back in the cocaine days lol.

  • I actually disagree with the statement, as there is still some talent out there today, such as coldplay, foo fighters, and a few others...TOOL for one!!

  • @asds21 The Black Keys, Avenged Sevenfold, The Killers, and The White Stripes

  • @iamobeliskquake fuck avenged sevenfold theyre shit

  • @goatsmetallica their better than most modern artists

  • @iamobeliskquake Airbourne

  • I wouldn't define that as a missed cue. That's the sort of thing that you would expect from a rock concert. Spontaneity and all.

  • David gilmour can do anything he wants !!!! Such a great musician ,!!!

  • like when nick lost his stick in pompeii, he picked up another one and made the solo better

  • Gilmour didn't miss his cue....he want the fans to start singing without him

  • Dave didn't missed the cue, the cue missed him.

  • @Adennos don't confuse David with a Russian Chuck Norris

  • @hunkydorey2 xD

  • @hunkydorey2 finaly Chuck is russian) nice)

  • There ya go...that's the right answer. So he didn't sing it as he traditonally sings it, call it a slightly different redition. No two versions are totally identical. Known for his perfectionism? Really?? The look on his face was a hint surprised if not even amused. Like another guy pointed-out, it's music...no right or wrong.

Actually, everything Millie-Vanilli did was wrong, but let's not go there.

  • @Adennos Chuck Norris told himself beforehand to miss it, so David complied.

  • zeppelin? this is pink floyd.

  • it wasn't his fault...the guitarist came in to quickly...he should have gone back to C quickly and then back to G and then on to C while singing...."Sooooo" so you think you can tell....

  • he hih

  • He didn't miss anything muta'

  • dick brain gilmour

  • nothing was missed!

  • He used to do that all the time when he was with Warrant.. thats why they kicked his out of the band..

  • I wish i was there to experience this mistake and the smile after that.

  • Rats...I take that back..he does only play 1 measure however he is only supposed to. It is before the guitar solo in the beginning that he is supposed to play two measures of G before Gilmour enters. So, yes, Gilmour, did mess up, and yes I was mistaken.

  • Comment removed

  • @tarijt24 nah man he plays it fine, listen to the recording. the guitarist plays it 2 measures long

  • Comment removed

  • I wouldn't have noticed .. that's why I try not

get too technical into things cause then you

    start missing the point ...

  • He did it on purpose as a sign of his supposed mortality. But we can see right through it, he is God :)

  • To be fair don't they go to the C a bit early? Bless

  • i feel so fortunate i was born in the 60s and being able to grow up with the likes of gilmour ,page, frampton and not just the guitar greats, im not much of a flute fan but Ian Anderson is bad ass, the list of talent goes on and on. Can you imagine being a kid today and the best that the music industry has to offer is a justin beeber! Man I'd be pissed.

  • @jhblazeraider believe me man, WE ARE PISSED. but thanks to evolution and technology, I can enjoy floyd and zeppelin LIVE ALL DAY EVERY DAY!

  • @jhblazeraider We (the younger generation that actually enjoys musical talent and not commercial sell outs) are pissed.

  • im not sure that would qualify as a mistake, more like a hiccup. only a true fan would pick up on that. i was tipped off by the "shit i fucked up" face david made.

  • i think he nailed it, but what do i know?

  • big deal. still better than anyone here could do it.

  • I love the face he makes when he starts singing

  • never mind, we all sang "So.." at the right time

  • its allright Dave, I started singing for you

  • Gilmour never misses the cue, he made his own.

  • Gilmour the best !!!!!!!!

  • Thats the last gig that hired gun is gunna play for a while... lol

  • he did not miss his Q u damn fool...he simply decided to start it on an up beat :)

  • 1. He didn't miss his cue.

    2. The other guy came in early from G to C.

    3. Jimmy Page is sloppy live but not Keith Richards sloppy.

  • @mudmen1000 Not like ive got my grade 8 is it . . .. . . .

  • @mudmen1000 Here here

  • Jimmy Page is a very sloppy guitarist. Zeppelin albums are loaded with mistakes. The compositions are great but their execution is inconsistent.

  • @O0Salmon0O Rubbish

  • @hunkydorey2 Actually, as a guitarist and a fan, I must agree. That the albums are full of mistakes is rubbish. After all, the albums are the final record of how a song is played, but Page is known for his more loose approach. He is still always entertaining. He's just not the technician that someone like Paul Gilbert is or Randy Rhoads was.

  • @KeenAnthony yeah, i agree with that 100%, but i still don't think he was ever sloppy and speaking of Rhandy Rhoads, have you heard the song: "i don't know", its a mastepiece

  • @hunkydorey2 Oh definitely, certainly a favorite. Like a lot of kids, I went and painted my Flying V in polkda dots because of Randy. If you get a chance, you might enjoy some of the vids posted of Randy when he was in Quiet Riot. In a solo for "Laughing Gas", you can hear a lot of the little bits that would end up becoming classic Randy/Ozzy material.

  • @hunkydorey2 I would have to disagree. In the late 1970's through the 1980's (1977-1980,1985)Jimmy Page's playing became very sloppy live. Now granite, the reason was because of his Cocaine addiction (1977-1980) and his Alcoholism (1985). Ex) the Led Zeppelin Reunion at Live Aid 1985.

  • @LedSabbath2 when someone is high or drunk, of course their gonna be sloppy, thats why we get stoned for God's sake, outside of chemical dependence though, he aint sloppy, he's a guitar genius

CASE IS NOW CLOSED, the You-tube court is no longer in session.

  • @hunkydorey2 Jimi Hendrix when high as hell wasn't sloppy at all. Same thing for Santana.

Still David Gilmour is the best guitarist of all time.

  • @hunkydorey2 jimmy page made his name as a session musician, that wouldnt have happened if he did sloppy studio work, that was pages sound, granted he was pretty shitty in a lot of live shows but the albums are exactly like page wanted them to be, he wrote and produced the damn stuff himself, he was a brilliant musician, i'd take his style anyday over a robot sounding perfectionist like buckethead.

  • @hunkydorey2 sorry i replied to the wrong person :P

  • @hunkydorey2 not really.....you can actually hear him mispicking in the famous stolen song "stairway to heaven"

  • @O0Salmon0O Don't forget heroin can fuck you up rigth...

  • @O0Salmon0O u are the first person on youtube i have ever heard tell the truth of jimi paige. ur awesome.

  • @O0Salmon0O thats the beauty of it

  • @O0Salmon0O IMO Zeppelin was never really all that great live. Still a decent song none the less

  • @O0Salmon0O Absolutely the truth.

  • actually, the other guitarist (the one it shows right before Gilmour starts singing) came in too early, you'd know if you'd listened to the song enough ;)

  • @mudmen1000 if you dont think jimmy page is a sloppy guitar player then you need to listen closer.

  • he just didn't want to say 'so'. could have been on purpose. people have that much time on their hands to find this crap and post it??? (and dumbasses like me to add on to nonsense.)

  • Ya but his recovery is perfect, very gilmour. most people didn't even notice. Thanks for the clip!

  • 11.02.2011 = un palindrome (se lit aussi bien à l'endroit qu'à l'envers) à part ça.... on est le 11.11.11 il n'y a rien de nouveau sous les étoiles !

  • ahhhh the awful 80's haircuts

  • @mudmen1000 actually, Page really can be pretty sloppy.. at least in the ol' days where he was into coke a lot, but He still playd will all feeling in the world, along with gilmour:)

  • BUT, YOU NOTICE HE GRACEFULLY GETS OUT OF IT WITH A LIFT OF THE EYELIDS ?

    CLASSIC

  • Even the best are not perfect.

And David is among the very best.

  • No genius is perfect

  • @mudmen1000 Who are you asking, i don't think David Gilmour or Jimmy Page are sloppy, they are both truly fucking awesome.

  • The little smile he gives is simply perfect! He knew he screwed up and he played it cool.

  • I missed him missing his cue, where was it? I don't know the song though so I've nothing to compare this to.

  • @stratmentalist came in a little late? or early? on the first line of singing. i don't know the intro that well, but you can hear a harsh dissonant "twang" as he bashes the guitar hard in frustration, then smiles "oh well what the fuck fuck I'm human too". and he adjusts back in to place with the band.

  • So what? Syd missed entire songs ... ah, but I love 'im.

  • He misses the cue on the song breathe too. David Gilmour looses a breath I think the vid was called. He's still god tho!

  • No matter what... He is amazing! :o) "So you think you can tell...?! WHOOP?

  • like a pro he nods smiles and nails it. bad ass

  • @RyanWehr exactly! he knew he missed it, instead of acting like a fool and pretending nothing happened, he took it in stride and just acknowledged it. Very classy and everyone makes mistakes once in awhile. Honestly he looks distracted to me, probably real life stuff that real people have to deal with from time to time lol.

  • maybe he was thinking about syd barret and all the acid he gave him

  • this isn't that rare at all. isn't this from the venice concert?

  • @brajtnerinjo its not the video that is rare, whats rare is David missing his cue and yes, it is the Venice concert 0:04

  • he just got lost in his guitar playing. it happens to all guitarists at some point

  • Nice moment and I loved his reaction and the smile. David Gilmour rules!

  • I just knew it, he's human... !

  • not that bad, god bless david!!!

  • OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH WOOOOOOOOWWWW he just screwd up the whole song... WTF...

  • i think the humerous face he pulls indicates he was somewhere else entirely and didn't mean to miss his cue -funny though lol.

  • Looks like he just went away for a second. But I think we can all forgive him...

  • ahahah! great! go on Dave! XD

  • he didnt do it intentionally at all , he was miles away and he's human just like the rest of us

  • I think thad David did it intentionally to make people sing the song..

Years ago, in an interview, he sad he was surprised that in Italy people could sing Pink Floyd songs in perfect english, and maybe he wanted to involve the public for this reason..

Anyway great song, great concert and vid! ;)

  • Nice to know he's human! All around nice guy - wish I could meet him.

  • @dogstarmusic beware of meeting your heroes. DG is so very English, you wouldn't get much out of him.

I remember seeing him live in '88 when he had hair !

  • 0:35 LOL!

  • That was probably intentional, and I'm not in denial that gilmour can make mistakes cos there are some in on the turning away 1994 and 2006 as well as in great day for freedom in 06, but that first "so" isn't really essential considering it's repeated a second or so later. Gilmour's been known to do things differently show to show, this is probably just one of them.

  • @smelliot95 I'd totally agree if it wasn't for the expression of 'Ooops!' that he does straight after missing it. :)

  • @wesmatron thats exactly what i was going to say

  • @hunkydorey2 :)

Hey, I really like your channel bud

  • @wesmatron thanks

  • @wesmatron oh yeah. Didn't see that first time round. Fair enough, comment retracted lol :)

  • @smelliot95 There's no denying that he likes to change it up' though. He often plays the last solo in Comfortably Numb differently....so's he's not adverse to doing stuff like that...but this time the 'look' gives it away :)

  • and btw pink floyd one of the best bands ever was

  • thats the way to do it.jump in and dont try to make up for the messed up or missed parts you get back in time with the band .true sign of a pro.dont let it phase you

  • David Gilmour is GOD!!

  • Even stylish in that situation.

  • you know what? he didnt even miss it cause it still sounds perfect as always

  • At least he can't miss that haircut.
