Yes, they were, but if you look at the scores in 1995, whoa, those were really high! BTW, only 3 of the top 10 scored 9´s in all categories, USA, Brazil and Puerto Rico

I meant in the preliminary competition. Only USA, Brazil and PR scored at least 9 in every competition. Colombia had a 8.79 in swimsuit, I think Venezuela had a 8.96 or so in evening gown.

the costume was supposed to be muslim. it was designed by Pitoy Moreno. remember that BPCI's attention in 1993 was directed towards Ruffa Gutierrez. In fact it wasn't even BPCI who commisioned Ben Ferrales to create Ruffa's costume but her mom.

Miss Singapore 1993, Rena Ramiah, won Miss Tourism Princess International and was placed top 5 in World Best Model Pageant and voted best in Asia Pacific Region. But in a biased pageant such as Miss Universe, Asian and coloured ladies stand a slim chance to be recognised. How tragic.
