then how about you DON'T WATCH IT? fuck. it's not that hard to turn the fucking channel. "it's so fucking triggering" blahhhh. shut up you stupid girl.
@LaModeXOXO It's a sickness. It's an addiction. It's not that easy to just stop. If it was as easy as changing the channel, eating disorders wouldn't be one of most common chronic illnesses among adolescents. It's not NEARLY that simple.
Im undecided until I'll get to see it......It's a big thing with Oprah...Well done with the sleepover, thats cool, you DID it yano..just a normal thing because you are a lovely normal person :) 50 dollars > you SHOULD say it to her hon, that is alot! xx
I looked into this and I think it's a HORRIBLE idea, and shame on whichever treatment center lets them film their residents. I went to Renfrew and like they were super strict on even parents inside the residence building. You're right, it will harm girls who have ed's, girls who are in recovery, girls who are being documented, and the girls who are in the treatment center where this is taking place.
I totally agree with everything you're pointing out about the documentary. I can see myself watching all of it too, I tend to run towards triggering things as well...it's really hard...
whoa i could go on and on...also Oprah is the worst role model! She is mucked up about weight herself and probably only is doing the show because like any eating disordered person is OBSESSED with the topic! I bet she will say the most triggering thing on the last show 'you look so HEALTHY/WELL/' 'You have curves again, you're a real woman' blahblah. gah.
' 3) when i was in IP one was just a teen psych ward, there were kids who'd get admitted just to get away from home, i mean, starving yourself isn't that bad if it means you get to live in treatment for 3 months, seriously, people think like that (and that is normal, middle-classes kids, who haven't been abused in any way)
without regard for how being filmed in the mess that is IP will affect not only their recovery but also their employment prospects and general life-after-treatment. I think it, yet again convinces people that anorexia is 1) attractive and attainable 2) anorexia is when you are 60lbs and dying, when actually that same woman was anorexic (DSM-IV) at 100lbs too, you just didn't notice then because she didn't look like the woman 'off the tv show
On the jezebel comments it said the show was funding people who needed but couldn't afford treatment, i think this in itself is wrong, it's like saying 'you want to live, well we will hand you life, but only if we can film you' it's putting a vulnerable person in a situation where something they need so desperately is dangled infront of them,
ok, well part of me is completely selfish and wants to watch the damn show, the rational and moral part of me?! this is wrong. I mean i disagree with supersize vs. superskinny and (until this series) they didn't even have people with ED's on it, but it was of course triggering and 'tipping' ED'd people.

Yes, Sarah, it smacks of exploitation for profit...at the girls expense. YUK.
