(Posted by Youtube Stream for iPhone (yst.me) on behalf of mocca831 at twitter)

  • Brilliant! Through simple but great little ideas he transforms his instrument into a musically multi-textural performance tool that sounds totally complete on its own :D Great stuff

  • it's beautiful music...

  • this is so beautiful :D

  • oh my god. i've just discovered him, and oh my god. i just can't believe how incredible he is!

  • Had the privilege of supporting him at a gig in Berlin a couple of years ago. The things this man can do with gaffa tape and a piano beggars belief. Superb musician.

  • OF course,,, amazing... I saw him Live at Scubas in Chicago!

  • 原來還可以這樣玩 好帥啊

  • I can't believe that a beautiful performance like this one hasn't gotten more views. It breaks my heart that more people haven't enjoyed this sonic gift.

  • i keep waiting for him to use the ping pong balls but he NEVER DOES. [spoiler]

  • @pizbox Watch the other videos in this series

  • what are the black things he positions in the beginning of the video? They have a blue light facing down. They're making the strings vibrate right?

  • @LOogt EBows

  • @LOogt They're called Ebows - they create a magnetic field which causes the strings to vibrate.

  • @LOogt ebows? Direct string synthesis- damn cool little toys!

  • I have to say I'm torn: the man is obviously incredibly creative, and the music progression itself is really good, but not all of his sound choices in this piece really "clicked" with me. On the other hand, my opinion of it doesn't really change the fact that it's amazing. Definitely worth my time.

  • I would group this work into "performance arts" rather than music. It's still fascinating, though.

  • The second time you watch this video, close your eyes.

  • pity his last album wasnt as good as this :/

  • Someone disliked this.

I can honestly not think of a possible reason that someone would do that.

    This is amazing.

  • This guy deserves to be a lot more well known. I rarely applaud any musicians, but this is fantastic.

  • This song is so beautiful it almost brought me to tears. Thank you.

  • @usrnaim

If you want a song that will bring you to tears please listen to The Fountain soundtrack by Clint Mansell. Its amazing.

  • @yakooza haha Thanks man. Will do.

  • @usrnaim

    Yup :)

  • yeah ebows are mad underused.

  • Alright ... who was that single dislike? We're going to find you ... we're going to catch you..

  • Sorry read further down and found out.

  • What are those things that make the cool noise at the end of the video? Those are amazing!

  • Beautiful, I really enjoyed this performance!

  • Amazing!! just got his new album to add to my collection :)

  • This is what happens when you combine cage and glass, AWESOMENESS!!

  • I love prepared piano! I hope more people keep innovating with objects, nails, and all of the unique things one can use to manipulate, or as some would say instead coax he sound out of a piano. Thanks for sharing!

  • this floored me....I couldn't stop listening.

  • i'm glad the clock is there behind him, i lose track of time when i watch this...

  • wtf...! amazing and beautifull...!!!!! this is when music and passion meet each other!

  • what are those things with the blue lights on them that hes using? i want one

  • @bucksausage those are e-bows

  • @bucksausage They are called E-bows

  • @bucksausage usually used fro guitars or other string instruments to simulate the sound of an actual bow

  • Wow, that was beautiful.

  • This guy has been the reason for more than a few late-starting soundchecks.

    Har.

  • I don't usually like prepared piano, but this is really nice. His dynamics were a little pale though.

  • @Marklar3 are you serious..... get over youself this is unreal good. you couldnt write anything better or even close pal

  • @worc508 how do you know if he could or couldnt write anything close? Do you know him? Sad when people berate folk for just having an opinion on a public forum. I like this music a lot. So does Marklar3.
