Use to rock this shet when I was a DJ Chips a the Promoter Manor Club In Brooklyn, NY. Flatbush Ave. aka FANTASIA. THe crowd loved this cut on our massive sound system we had there circa late 1977-78
@781Florist — If you like this, then allow me to introduce you to a version that could even knock this version out of the trinity: In 1980 or so, The Silencers, an under-appreciated bar band from Pittsburgh, PA, made what I have always considered THE kick-butt version of this song. Unfortunately, I can't find a (legal) complete copy of it online, and Youtube won't let me link to it in this post. Search Youtube for "Silencers Rock n Roll Enforcers RARE Pittsburgh"
@dlandline This is a great version! I especially liked how they incorporated a bit of "Secret Agent Man" and another detective show that is driving me crazy trying to recall the name!!
@781Florist Don't forget Duanne Eddy version excellent. It was recorded again in 1998 album. The drummer was Chester Thompson of Phil Collins and Genesis
Good point Paul. Because (A) the rise of rap killed a LOT of good music (remember melodies? actual melodies?) and (B) the stupefied public doesn't want instrumentals anymore. A damn shame.
Most excellent

There are some one-measure tributes in here. I caught Shaft & Pink Panther. Cool stuff.
