  • I'm not sure why, but I always loved the way the announcer ready Panasonic 3DO :-D.

  • Got this console recently via winning an eBay auction.

I'm definitely monstrously fascinated with it after spending some actual time playing some stuff on it. Then again, it certainly helps that the console has no region lockout... >_>

  • I remember the M32 add on the 3DO was supposed to get. The MPEG add on never came either. I think it was because of an earth quake hitting the factory or something. I liked my 3DO but I missed my Snes when I got one because I had to sell it to afford a 3DO.

  • Admit it: This console is becoming a R*E*A*L collectors item.

  • It was a R*E*A*L hit in the USA! LMAO.

  • "Big it in the USA"????

Can you sue a company retroactively for false advertising?

  • big hit in usa. lol what lies

  • What the HELL was wrong with the guy at 0:56????

  • That was Trip Hawkins, the brain child of the 3DO.

  • Iyoiyo NIHON DEBYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU~

  • PS3 is much successful than the 3DO~~~

  • 0:28

    Too close to screen :D

  • fuck i read 3d japanese porno damn hahaha

  • LOL 'Color!' unlike the GameBoy Pocket! lol

  • Thats the wii of today hahahaha

  • BIG HIT IN THE USA!

  • @TheMVRules ...NOT!

It only sold 2 million units! (at least it beats the Atari Jaguar's 250,000 units sold)

  • @an1man1ac54l1f3 Yeah, 2 million units actually isn't that bad for a console NOT made by Sega, Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft. Especially given that the price tag was 700 GODDAMN US DOLLARS. If they had made it cheaper and focused more on good games it probably could have done even better.

  • "It's for everyone that had 700$ to spend on a console in the early 1990s...which isn't much"

  • lmao isnt much

    $700 in '93 = too much

    $700 Now = Uh...still too much

Bottom line = Don't bother. lol

  • Trip Hawkins, you serpent! This was not a big hit here! Why is the dog barking! LIES LIES!!!

  • PS3 is not 3do and will nv be

  • yeah, the PS3's better than this for its time.

  • I saw it once and fell in love...it was the Bentley of gaming at the time so as a child I could never afford it but we all wanted to play it...so i took revenge and bought a ps3 on the irst day of its release some 13 years later...!!

  • I want one. I need it to plug into the future.

  • ROFL the guy is funny

  • If you mean the narrator/announcer, then yes. The way he says the word "real" is just hilarious

  • this thing is damn expensive at the time

  • how much a 3DO when it was launch?

  • $700

  • HOLY SHIT!!! $700 IN THE 94' OMG!!!!!!

  • how much would that be now

  • about $1200

  • seriously!? goddamn!

  • I paid around $800, damn that thing was expensive, but you can't deny the fact that at the time it was the bentley of gaming platforms

  • lol same price as PS3..

  • No it not the same price. Look at the Inflation Rate. Its about $1200 in today price. so its much more expensive then PS3.

  • for the dog too?

  • 0:15 TRIP HAWKINGS: COMPUTER GENIUS

  • haha there was a mac in the backround mac2 maybe?

  • crap....rubbish....trash

  • "Big hit in the us" erm... yeah right....

  • this thing was "Dreamcast MK1" the beginning of the end, trying to sell a revolutionary console for a lot more than the other products on the market at the time.

  • dreamcast wasnt that expensive only 200 which was cheaper than PS2 which was 300

  • I bought one the day before the first price drop. I remember spending over $700 and then the next day the manager at Babbages called me and said "Come back by and get your $100!" I thought that was really cool of him to do that. I actually spent it on a couple of games of course.lol! I loved it. FIFA, Slam N Jam, Wing Commander, Madden, Road Rash, NFS, etc. I just bought a Dreamcast on ebay and will be buying the 3DO next! Then, the N64, Saturn, Jaguar, etc. Can't wait for some old school!

  • going old school aye? cool

  • what a good person. it brings a tear to my eye, for real

  • this games system remind me of pc not ps3

  • The 3DO sucked in america but it did well in japan and europe that what I herd.

  • the 3DO sucked major balls over here in the UK and the rest of Europe. It flopped completely.

  • THE 3DO had the BEST port of Street fighter 2 turbo of any system out

  • This was PS3 of the early 90's.

  • I love my ol'3do but.... Fuck You Tripp Hawkins lol

  • que triste la consola es buena para esa epoca lastima que tenia el presio de una ps3 si esta no rebaja su presio acabara como esta

  • Technically, the Panasonic 3DO was the best 32 bits console out there (better than the PS1 or Saturn) and it had such a tremendous potencial, but it was virtually doomed from the beginning due to its high price ($700)... and yet some people believe the PS3 was expensive at its launch time ($600)...*sigh*

  • the Saturn and Playstation have far more processing power than the 3DO, this is a fact. the reason why most ports from 3DO to SAT/PS are inferior is simply bad programming.

  • 3DO was pretty powerful and could out-do the Playstation in some aspects, but the Sega Saturn was the most powerful 32-Bit console.

  • also the NEO-GEO

the system and games where very xpencive

  • road rash & wing commander owned on this system back in the day. and it only cost me like 1000 with warranty when it came out *sigh*

  • plugs into the future...

    plugs into the past..

The 3do is okay.. but no one i know has one..

  • the price was insane

  • It's hard to believe that was one of the promos that started it all, thanks for posting it.

  • started what? it never took off :P

  • The only games i really liked for this are the ones that use the game gun.

  • nice grasp of the point ;)

  • They have Trip Hawkins saying how great 3do is. Would the average Japanese person even know who he is, let alone what he's saying. The 3do wasn't even that big of a success in the US anyway and just because a product is successful in the US doesn't mean its going to be successful in Japan

  • i still play my 3DO it rocks!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree it has some real standout titles like Road Rash, Captian Quazar, Killing Time, Blade force & more.

I'd love it if someone whould pick up the rights to the last three franchies mentioned & do sequals or remakes.

  • "TRIP HAWKINGS

    COMPUTER GENIUS"

ROFL! Like "Hey everyone, he's a computer genius! He know what he is talking!"

    Why not:

    "WILE E. COYOTE

    GENIUS"

  • 'Big Hit in the USA'? Yeah, in a bizarre alternate dimension maybe. And who in Japan thought that Trip Hawkins would be an ideal pitchman for promoting an American videogame machine in a nation/society fiercely protective of its own businesses and entertainment companies? LOL, thanks for posting. Somewhere Trip is laughing his head off with all the money he made selling the M2 technology to Matsushita who... did... what exactly with it?

  • trip hawkins is an ideal pitchman as he created 3do company and thats his own product.

the 100million made from m2 probably got spent on the 3do games that where made after they quit hardware and was mostly wasted seeing as trip had bailed the company out by investing his own money into it a few times

  • if it 'plugs into the future' you know its gotta be good.

  • I had one when the price came down, it was actually a nice system with some good games but by the time you could buy one the Playstation and Saturn stoled the 3DO's lunch money.

  • ahh the 3DO. If only they marketed it right and rethought their Pricing strategy, the 3DO could have dominated the market for a good 3-4years

  • i agree with you!! 3DO was a great system and some good games! i still have mine with 10 games!

  • It's was for everyone, alright....Everyone who had a biiiiiiiig wallet.

  • nobody has a problem paying $700 now for a game system

  • not true people still won't pay $700 for a game system that's why their knocking off $100 from the ps3 this year. i remember when my malls gaming store was going out of buisness and i bought a clearance NEO GEO system with 5 games for $600. The best game purchase i ever made.

  • You lucky bastard!

  • ...lmfao hahahahhahahaq omg back then we were like omfg ahhhhhh
