I too was proud to be a Texan when Ann was governor. I was proud to to vote for her and even prouder to know her. When she walked in the room the place lit up. I miss her so much it's excruciaating---no one will ever fill her shoes. RIP Bud too--her beau to the end, Bud Shrake---they are buried next to each other in the Texas State
Cemetery.God rest you both---two of the funniest, wittiest, and savviest
She was a class act, she was caring, she was witty, she was funny, she maintained her beauty until the day she was no more and she was a humanitarian...RIP Madame Governor...
Beautifully done! Excellent for the grand dame of the south. How much more the nation looked to and really cared about your state when you had her as your Governor. Back then, I don't think political parties were what they've become today. She loved Texas and her people. Her humor was fantastic. R.I.P.
I count myself to be one heckuva lucky man to have voted for her twice. I was SO proud of her when she was my governor. Wisdom and her common sense are sorely missed around these parts. Fort Worth loves ya Ann!
I think that Ann Richards was all that a women leader in the world needs to be and she also was a great mother and grandmother the type that teach life lessons that always stay I miss you Annie!
I love Ann and miss her so much..she's probably the biggest influence in my life..watching this made me want to cry.. I never knew her but I have a feeling if I had we would have gotten on great LOL..
I saw Ann once in my city when she was campaigning with Lloyd Bentson. She was a very tall, stately woman, in her mid-to-late 50s. Even at that age, with the white hair, wrinkles, etc., she was absolutely stunning. But the main thing I remember about her was the aura that seemed to envelope her. She loved life & it showed. No pretences - nothing fake or phoney about her. Very down to earth. Never afraid to say what was on her mind. My folks lived in Texas while she was Gov. & they adored her.
Ann Richards is a woman I knew very little about UNTIL Hillary's campaign showed me what she was like. Ann was outstanding...what an awesome woman! I really admire her. I hope Texas women come together and they show their support for Hillary at the polls and caucus sites. Ann's daughter said that Ann would support Hillary with a passion. Hillary and Bill loved Ann and they were friends for over 30 years.
She was a wonderful woman and a great governor. Unsure how the great state of Texas could chose George over her. What a shame! Nonetheless, what a woman!!!
I just got back from my first trip to Texas and one of the highlights was visiting the Capitol in Austin and standing underneath her portrait. I LOVE this woman!!! I miss her soooo much. A true inspiration to all.
I'm not a Texan, but I loved this woman. I miss her so much. Her wisdom, her humor, she was human and always admitted that. A breath of fresh air that I don't know we'll ever see again in politics. May she R.I.P. what a dear soul.
A wonderful tribute to Ann Richards. While I will always hold a grudge against her for the rise of George W. Bush, she was a fine woman and a fine Governor.
I had the very high honor to have met Ann Richards when she came down to Florida to campaign for a local congressional race. She was always open about her alcoholism, and when I mentioned my years of recovery, she asked me to go to a meeting with her, now the key word in AA is Anonymous, but when she walked into the room she was just plain Ann R. She was so down to earth. I kept in touch with her over the years and cried upon hearing the news of her passing.
We were lucky to have someone like her in Texas. I seriously doubt very few politicans could get as many people to come together for them in this manner.
What a wonderful tribute to one of the great Texans. I was so proud to be a Texan when she was our Governor. And, she was a genuine, honest, down home person with no pretensions. God Bless her, I just hope she's dancing in heaven.

She's so deeply missed. If only she'd been around to see Obama in the White House. Wow!
