  • Ya know, people here are making bad comments about France.I rode my mountain bike thru that beautiful country, and the people(outside of Paris) were great.Kind, and Courteous when I needed a bit of help. I wear a little France patch on my touring jacket, and one for each other country I rode through as well.No one ever says anything bad about my little French flag.I love France! ----------------------

to fifilafrance-You dont have to hide w ho you a re,kid,..be as proud as any Irishman is.

  • Their dancing together just slays me, even if the cameraman TOTALLY IGNORED IT.

  • its fascinating how someone so drunk and wrecked still sound so god damn awesome when he sings....

  • Nobody can ever replace Macgowan or Kirsty at singing this, any attempts have failed. . .

and please stop saying "mcgowan" its "MACGOWAN" :)

  • I just love these old videos, where Shane looks all happy after the first chorus of Fairytale of New York, like he's so amazed by the fact they pulled it off that well. =) that kinda got lost along the way...

  • McGowan the best.......cheers from to the Greece

  • i´m from EL Salvador, i´m the only one who knows this song, i´m a piper and i lived in Scotland, this song is the best in the world, Mcgowan is a great songwritter as a psicologist i say it´s sad what happend to him but is the best, there is not better Christmas song, god bless ireland and Scotland....

  • hi i would like to know if was possible upload "rainy night in soho" of that show in italy

  • Best Christmas song ever, and as said, THE IRISH DO IT BEST.

    RIP KIrsty

  • @0508213569 think both shane and kirsty are english..

  • @dazzzer

Shane was Irish...but he grew up in England.

    I'm not sure about Kirsty.

  • @eerawb Shane classed himself as Irish right enough - but if you look at the facebook/myspace pages of most of the Pogues they mostly identify themselves as English or British. Kirsty was English. Her father was Ewan MacColl who wrote Dirty Old Town. He was of Scottish parentage but was born and brought up in Salford, England. Salford is the dirty old town being sung about in that particular song.

  • @dazzzer why would you think he was English ? he is Irish an english man could not write a song like the fairytale of New york.

  • Seen these guys on Monday night and this song was simply stunning....the whole night really. My dad loved this song and sadly been taken from us for too long now. The Irish do it best :-)

  • Nice, I double dare you to find a cuss word in anything I've posted. I'm playing here anyone can see that...Loved you with the VU but heard you were dead.....

  • mitch26 ,i saw the vid i was like this guys cool for posting it put then a saw you cussed the french and i was like what a prick im half an half alright im neutral but dont cuss ppls nationality!

  • God, she was a beauty! This song gives me shivers every time I hear it.

  • I abosolutely luv this song and even with the "no teeth" etc look its endearing to the magic on Xmas Day!!!!

  • you are a fag!! Sure shane was always wasted prior to the show and after but amazingly enough when he took the stage he was on top of his shit!! So little boy if you have seen them more than ten times you will no SHANE IS ALWAYS ONTOP AND IS THE GREATEST SHOWMAN EVER AND NEVER MISSES A CUE!!! JACKASS!

  • Is there any need to claim this song to any nation? Lots of ppl fel it's power. I think that's how Shane and Kirsty would have wanted it. That's it appeal........................

  • Shane is still Shane. He always will be. Someone better bury that f*cker with a bottle of gin when his time finally does come or I will be irate. God bless him!

  • r.i.p classic

  • Justice for Kirsty!

  • Classic!!!! Only word to use!! F*****G classic!

  • Niss ou, Kirsty, you talented lady.

  • rip kirsty sadly missed xxx

  • I Love this Song

  • No one not even Shane will top this..

  • when i saw them i have to say fiesta ws the best song to dance to, besides summer in siam when i danced with my wife.

  • Lennon & McCartney rightly get acolades worldwide. Mcgowan was a tremendous song writer and doesn't get the recognition that he deserves.

  • LOL, especially since you can't spell his name:)

  • @6seahamharbour6 well no disrespect but the Meatless got up real early and went to the studio every morning, Gowan was down the boozer until stupid o'clock and never ot up before midday. Strummer said he was outstanding...Gowan has an extended POP/rock culture...I know...I can testify...but he still went to bed too late aha ahah

  • One of the greatest songs... in remembrance of kirsty mccoll... alcohol is a real drug. but kirsty, believe me, you are unforgetable with this song!

  • I'll never forget how strong impression Kirsty made on me when I first listened to this song (some 10 years ago)...

  • The chords are D G A D (it's in the key of D). :D

  • Do anyone know the chords of this song?

  • D, A, Bm and G.

  • Lovely song!

I were only three years then.

It gives me a tooth...ehm, tear to my eye as well.:D

  • at the end of the first verse of fiesta shane goes "(we got) leonardo, and kalamari, james fearnly and ghonnorea.

  • feck off', luv to Mum.

  • your a bum your a punk your an old slut on junk lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed you scumbag you maggot you cheap lousy faggot

  • Shane's 'kinda' sober overhere i think

  • love this rip

  • To me "The Christmas song". Perfect or as close as one can get

  • RIP Kirsty MacColl

  • Fiesta, yeah. One of the best live versions.

  • kirsty

s family must be proud as punch when they hear this fantastic song year after year, one of the best

  • RIP Kirsty.

My onlt quibble is with peopl who call this a "Christmas Song," as if it's only that. it is a "Christmas Song" in a banal sense, i.e. it references Christmas Eve in the lyrics, but the song is about so much more, and should be heard all year long and not limited to a couple weeks at the end of each year.

  • Tre to your stsement about it being heard all year round, but damn sure knocks the shit out of the sails of those who wanna be fake t that time of year, makes em feel weird, as though they are thankful for the first time.

  • Thank god we still have Shane.... Merry Christmas all ye tossers!

  • best xmas song of all time. RIP Kirsty, we'll be thinking of you this Christmas. You are and always will be missed. X X X

  • @BamAtticusFreegrove ,Yes we will all miss the beautiful and talented Kirsty McColl. Merry Christmas to you.

  • Best christmas song ever

Brings a tear to my eye everytime

  • Great song....terrible teeth!

  • this is the best xmas song ever...

  • fifila france y r ye commenting that shit all over the diffrent vids of this song u should b proud of u country like every1 else who are irish here are when they listen to this song

  • You poor sad french person you! You should be proud of your nice french bread!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

  • How is it that there is always a bunch of wankers to discuss HOUR and Hour about who 's Irish, Who's scot and who's gonna fuck the goat first!!

i'm french, i live in a country where being french is ressented as a shamefull habit: no flag, no proud, no songs... just dullness and sadness.

Wearing a brit or an american flag is a fashionable thing everywhere.

Try to put a small french flag on your jacket, you'll be fucked alive in some places ! And NO GOAT to play with !!

  • But the French are such great warriors..no wait, that's everyone else. Never mind.

  • yes, i do remenber 1796 expedition in irlande/

FRENCH BATALLION WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROPER TACTICAL SUPPORT IN IRELAND !! they had to do the jod alone with no supply and no irishmen around (soooo quick to lit on a riot, so quick to fly away !!)

I know we were a bit shallow in 1940 but ireland and england are both islands aren't they? u hu h u h u h u huh uh uh !!

  • mitch the French conquered Europe twice and your a bigot.

  • @dekreig Yes we're all aware of the great French Empire, it's right there with the Romans and Greeks, LOL. I'm not a bigot, I love France. Without the french I would have to have my breakfast on a Hardee's biscuit and not a croissant. It's you're btw, not your in this instance.... Keep bugging me and I'll send a kid with a firecracker over there to take over the country:)

  • @mitch26 great britania had the largest empire out of all the countries

  • @fredingo1231 LOL, yeah and where did that get you now? I have tix to see the Pogues in March at the 9:30 Club:)

  • terrible singing. very terrible.

  • ewan macoll was scottish, his old family live round here where i live. his real name wasnt ewan macoll btw, and theres a lot more to him than meets the eye. he did live in salford though.

his daughter was pure magic, but i put that donw to her scottish blood.

  • shane is the best singer i ever heard. god bless u forever i love u:-)

  • Quality

  • Rest in peace Shane and Kirsty, great song!

  • shane is not dead is he

  • No he's semi alive and almost well:)

  • Kirsty died in 2000 after being struck by a motorboat. Shane hasn't drowned yet.

  • there's time though ,paddy prick

  • Kirsty's father Ewan Maccoll wrote "dirty old town" which was about his home town in lancashire England. Most people believe it's about Dublin but sadly it's not.

  • No, it's about Salford, which we're very proud of. Me and the missus live across the road from the 'gas works croft' that's mentioned in the song.

Sadly, the BBC in the North West are moving in next year, and the whole area is set to change.

  • Maby...

  • Su rai due...

  • if the measure of a good singer is making you feel something, then shane is pretty fucking good

  • God bless you, Drew...wherever you are....RIP...you too, Kirsty....

  • Brillant, sad what 20 years can do to you.

  • I saw them last night and they were in great form and Shane was on a roll.

  • Yeah Its great he seems to be keepin it together these days , I thinkin of Kirsty too though. Thanks for posting the vid.

  • damn.....it's not really about them hating each other...the point is that they stick together.

the words are "happy christmas your arse, hope God it's our last."....you know how people argue - they say shit they don't mean sometimes.

they stick together for love, it's a great story. God bless Shane McGowan. RIP Kirsty

"I kept them with me babe. I put them with my own. Can't make it all alone. I built my dreams around you."

Those are the most touching lyrics, especially coming from Shane.
