  • I didn't see an annotation on this point, so I thought I'd share my interpretation of Representation. I'm pretty sure it means that the base social policy cost increase of 30% per city is reduced by one third, meaning each city would only net a 20% increase in SP cost. So if your next policy was 100 culture, and you founded a second city without Rep, it would cost 130, but if you then took Representation it would drop down to 120. Also, I'd assume this doesn't just affect your next policy.

  • How do you record videos and upload them to YouTube without the file size being very big?

  • @aegisfate117 I'm not sure if your question refers to video compression or youtube upload limits.

  • @biborkiraly I was meaning what program you use to record and edit the videos. I made a video of the game The Shield with FRAPS and it was 3gb for 5 minutes of video. Then I used Windows Movie Maker to convert the file from .avi to .mp4 and the quality was very bad.

  • @biborkiraly When they say the 33% less for culture policiies on each City built, It basically means, It cancels out the efect that if you buy another city Then policy Cost goes up, Basically building a city has no culture penalty with that policy :)

  • @aegisfate117 You may record through Fraps and then run the raw files through a video editng software and compress them there.

    .wmv format is very suitable.

  • Added a few minor updates.

  • Seemed a bit pointless - why woulnd't i just read the actual changelog?

would be nice with some thoughts about how the patch affects the most used strategies, ICS in particular.

  • @KlausBioMadsen Reading through the patch notes doesn't give you the full picture. ICS doesn't exist anymore. It's not just the minimum 3-hex gap between cities, but the fact that all resource tiles yield 50% more than regular terrain. Large cities scale in power too much for ICS to be even a remote option.

  • Your Video is featured on Rock Paper Shotgun :)

  • I LOVE the Tradition policies in this patch, perfect for my playstyle, ended up filling up that entire tree before looking at any others XD

  • Thanks for the video :)

  • I just played through half a game. I was pretty much constantly near +0 GPT or slightly in the negative. But it only really effected the first 20 turns or so when I would have bought a worker or settler with the Gold. Once I got some luxury resources up it seemed like I had just as much gold as I do every game.

  • Thanks so much for the overview. Played a game as Siam earlier today and found the boost to early expansion in the form of aqueducts was extremely useful in getting me ready for the long haul to UN victory post-conquest. The new policy changes and secondary building effects have made the early game far more interesting, fun, and much closer to Civ IV in terms of offering versatility... hope the late game gets the same treatment, as it's still boring.

  • Heh, trade post nerf was "terrible nerf", but you changed your mind once you explained it a little :P.

  • @Arkssa what I meant is "terrible nerf to the trade post" I guess. It was around midnight when I made the video so... :D

  • @biborkiraly You're totally wrong about Oligarchy though, it says PLUS 100%, which means that cities with a garrison have twice the ranged combat strength of cities without a garrison.

Not 100%, PLUS 100% (twice as much) :)

  • @Baleur City with listed STR of 10 bombards units at str 5. Oligarchy makes the cities attack at plus 100% of 5, that's 10. 10 is also the 100% of 10 :)

  • Great video as always bibor. Very informative. Thanks! Can't wait for your new Let's Play.
