  • Thanks for this! I was there and remember it well. So many flash bulbs (yes, flash bulbs.....) that you could see a huge silhouette of Ringo drumming, head swaying back and forth, on the back wall of the Cow Palace. Wonderful memory.

  • The Beatles RULE! George Harrison was so fine, with his thick wavy hair and his deep, sexy voice! I LOVE THIS VIDEO!

  • the only footage of john playing you cant do that solo SWEET!!!

  • @nightcrawler511 I'm downloading it incase it gets deleted

  • @nightcrawler511 Oh yeah. And when John was playing the solo I coulda sworn he was staring right at the camera man like "Turn the fuck away' Why you never like playing solos Lennon?

  • @Calvingreen17 i love that they filmed john playing it, its the only footage i ever seen of him playing a solo during beatlemania

  • Notice how the Birth Control Pill was invented by the Pope as soon as He Creationed the Beatles -- the walkin', talkin' reason for birth control. And then the Vatican de-constitutionalized the Sixth Commandment -- Thou Hathst Bettereth Committeths Adulteriesth. That's why God made four of them. Happy menages!

  • Amazing the Big One didn't earthquake St. Francis's city yet again. Alaska Earthquake instead, same time as the British Invasion. Payback time for the Revolution, another Beatles song. What goes around, comes around. Instant Karma, sang John Lennon, right before he was gunned down in New Holland.

  • I was there! I was 10 years old. I loved the Beatles and as soon as I heard they were coming to the United States I asked my mother to send a check to the Cow Palace - that is how it was done back then. I think the tickets were $3.75 each. Those seats were near the back of the flat area. Very difficult to see as everyone was standing on their metal folding chairs...and screaming at the top of their lungs! Could barely hear them singing...my mother made us leave after 3 songs...too loud.

  • There were four concerts. The second year in 1965 was also at the Cow Palace. A second concert was added at the last minute, we dumped our plans to buy school clothes and went to the second concert in the afternoon!!

I had driven that year. We had such a gas. Also, I went to the press conference in between the two concerts. The afternoon concert was sparse so we got right up front AT THE STAGE!! The following year was at Candlestick Park and yes, we went to that one too.

  • My friends, sister and I were there, I was 17, sis 15. We went up on the train from San Jose!! We did not scream, we tried to tell the others to be quiet! I found by cupping my hands behind my ears I could hear. I cant believe I am seeing this again, 47 years later! My granddaughter suggested looking up Beatles concerts. Samrt kid, she is 17!!

  • FINALLY...ive been looking around youtube and i finally found a vid where it shows john (halfly) playing the solo to this song. he asked for film crews not to film his solo lol

  • I was also at this concert (1964 Cow Palace) and I had 2nd row center tickets and I brought my Kodak Instamatic! I was all of 11 years old. Here is a link to some of the photo's I took. Please feel free to copy them, but DO NOT SELL THEM!!!

    flickr dot com/photos/smarcus/sets/72157594148934197/

  • @smarcus1031 Hey friend! I would LOVE to see those pictures. The link wasn't working

  • Comment removed

  • I look at this in amazement. I was there and I barely remember it. I know I screamed through the whole thing. I was in the center about the 11th row from the stage standing on my chair in lunacy like the others. It was so easy to approach the stage afterwards. Much different from today..

  • I was at this concert! I got out of my seat and went right up to the stage. NOBODY stopped me. I was about 4 feet from John Lennon and I threw pink popcorn at his leg. I got his attention. He looked at me and winked! That was a dream come true. The following year we went to see them again at Candlestick park in San Francisco which proved to be their last concert! No one could get close to them, but I managed to get seats in row 2! I was 15 and my brother was 11. I still have my programs.

  • @monnica888 you were at this concert? ok, But the following year(1965) at

Candlestick park is inpossible because that was in 1966.

  • This concert of 1965 was actually performed at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, Ca. Paul Catalana Presents. Roger Sampson of San Ramon, Ca. I hadn't stated that in my last comment. I was in the second row standing 6'3''. Great view!

  • I saw the Beatle's of 1965, by Paul Catalana presents. I took my roller skating friend Shelley Anderson from San Jose, Calif. We actually were giving the tickets by another fellow club member Paul Catalana Jr. I was only 16 years of age at the time, begged my father for his 1965 Mustang, because I had a 1953 Crown Victoria Ford. I remember Paul McCartney almost cancelling the performance for the jelly beans being thrown towards the stage during there performance. Roger Sampson of San Ramon

  • I was there at age 12 and I remember I was soooo disappointed cause I couldn't hear them over the screaming. Even at age 12 couldn't believe the girls, why in the hell would you go to a concert and not hear the music, don't need to pay good money to hear yourself scream...pissed off. I've since been to over 70 concerts since then and it was the worst (cause of the screaming) still I agree it made for good bragging rights!

  • This was NOT at the Hollywood Bowl as someone stated earlier. It WAS at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. My friend Christiann is in this video in the front row and it shows her clearly there. I am amazed at how these guys kept on key without monitors and not being able to hear themselves at all. Great performers! What a fun time it was! So innocent and so new. Thanks guys for everything.

  • I saw the Beatles at the Cow Palace in 1965. Funny thing - that was the only concert I've ever been to, in which I didn't clap once! Incredible experience, though - I'll never forget it.

  • The other reason they quit was because they were worn out. Touring nonstop from country to country and city to city without getting that much rest. They should have taken at least a year off and then return on the road all fresh and focused and if they kept going maybe the technology would have evolved by 67' and beyond.

  • This audio was from the Hollywood bowl

  • Why slice this up rather see one or two full songs than cutting up a song. Please post entire concert Thanks

  • Lennon, so f'n' COOL.

  • No monitor speakers, singing basically deaf and still spot on. Now, pop stars can't even lip-synch without messing up.

  • someone tell those bitches to stop screaming.

  • Friend appear in color as well hases miss you a little more clarity and color in order that these videos chebree still clutching the beatles coloring is more color chebreee bay viewFriend appear in color as well hases miss you a little more clarity and color in order that these videos chebree still clutching the beatles coloring is more color chebreee bay view

  • Use the house P.A. system...turn the amps up to 10....and go!

  • I will NEVER go back to the 1964 in my time capsule again, said Art

    "Why", aske Imagination

    "sex sells," poops out

I Wil Never is his name I. Will Never. Mr. Never is a cretin who bathes in Kanzi's bathwater. WATCH Public Eneny. Note: doesn't LISTENS to Public Enemy, just watches them on mute. Then the dream comes to a halt.

Do People still eat pills and use oozing red suppositories to get high on Christmas????????????

  • why they scream so bad? is it because they were cute and rich?

  • @boliboy2299 If you have to ask... you will never get it

  • The Beatles are timeless classics and they sound just as fresh and good now as they did during the Ford Falcon era! Damn! Nobody, but NOBODY could jump the bar the Beatles raised. They are the world's best band, nonpareil and extraordinary.

  • This was far and away the loudest concert I've been too. You couldn't hear anything. It was total insanity. I loved it.

  • thats audio from the damn Hollywood bowl. Not san fransico genius

  • thats audio from the damn Hollywood bowl. NOt San Fransico

  • I love the "adult" around 4.27 who is clearly enjoying himself...I think I even saw him cover his ears and "oooo" along with the band. The Beatles, guilty pleasure of the older generation for over 40 years...

  • Love the Cow Palace!

  • Yes- this track is most definitely from the 1964 Hollywood Bowl concert. Too bad the real soundtrack doesn't exist.

  • only they can do this

  • Was there 46 years ago today - 19 Aug 2010. Took 3 teenage girls. Woman sitting next to me was from England. Had come down from Vancouver, Canada with her daughter for the show. It was an experience to say the least.

  • sadly, arlene vandermeer jumped off the golden gate bridge following this concert!

She was only 16,but felt her life couldn't get any better than this and decided to end it tragically!!

  • @TheTzdope are you kidding? why would she kill herself over a concert?

  • The girl at 4:00 is cumming and hard. The Beatles could do that to young teens back then. They were that good.

  • @soltisimba And an intense one at that. Sheesh!

  • This is from Hollywood bowl!

  • Sorry to say but this soundtrack is from the Beatles at the Hollywood bowl

  • It was so loud you could hardly hear them. I just wanted everyone to stop screaming so I could hear the music. My brother and I grew up a few blocks from the Cow Palace. So earlier in the day we went over to the back entrance and waited. There were only a few others there. When the limo pulled up it stopped for a while. I remember George waving at us.

  • @ccolzani You are my dear sister and what a blast we had huh? The limo pulled up and stopped for a few minutes waiting for the gate to be unlocked. I walked over and peeked in the window and George was sitting there smiling and waving. Paul and Ringo were sitting there too with big grins. John was in the front seat and kept turning around. They all seemed so happy. I waved to my sister to come over and she did and looked in too. No security or police. I'll never forget it.

  • @ccolzani That must have been so annoying, nowadays they have the 8 billion watt PA systems and bass that shakes the whole building, you cant even talk to the person beside you without cupping your hands and screaming into their ear...Beatles shouldve had that so you couldnt hear the screaming broads

  • Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters were there at the Cow Palace that day zonked on acid!

  • i can see why they stoped i can barley hear them through the screams

  • nice sound quality

  • I was there also pushed to the front of the stage..........as i recall the syndicate of sound was playing Maria from west side story right as we got there. seconds later the beatles came on, and it was total pandimonuim. We never even looked for out seat. My forehead was nearly jammed up against Johns boot! I also saw them at candlestick. What was so memorable about that night was the weather.!! Still, warm, with a full moon rising over Ringo drum stand. As locals know that is very rare.

  • @localboy1948

    you werent there

  • Pranksters came the Aug 19th evening show. They played a matinee and eve. on that date. I got to all 3!

I don't remember the 66 concert at CAndlestick. My friend Sue says I got kicked out for rushing the stage haha!

  • I was there in almost the front row but the concert didn't go on for long. All the back rows came rushing down toward the stage and the chairs we all were in collapsed. People were hurt and concert was over. I lost my purse and had to go back the next day to find it in a huge pile of things people had lost in the panic and confusion. Still love the Beatles though and even met Paul McCartney on that same visit.Anyone else there that day and remember?

  • @crissy2450 I also was at this concert in Aug 64' and the concert in 65' and their last concert at Candlestick Park. I could tell you an interesting story about me and John Lennon if your interested.

  • @spactick I don't know if that person answered but I will tell you that I am very interested! What happened? :)

  • We've all seen the Beatles on stage, but you know what? I'd like be in the same room today with about a half-dozen of those 1964 screamers! I live about five miles from the Cow Palace...It'd be fun to hear them talk about that.

  • This was way before my time but it's exciting to know they performed there. I grew up in the Portola District, about 2 miles away from the Cow Palace.

  • Thanks for posting this !

  • you cu tout the Jellybeans part!

  • Music is from Hollywood bowl, why is it in this film

  • the Merry Pranksters were there, weren't they?

  • I live ten minutes from the Cow Palace.

  • ok, i don't know why i'm explaining this to some people (could be a product of the dumming down of the human species), but the audience's reaction (which ranged from tears to excitement) was because they were aware that they were witnessing a historical and cultural event that has never happened before.

  • Defo is a product of the dumbing down of the human species! It's the devolution of the species! This species has 'amused itself to death!'

  • @dhucke4assembly ... I love the Beatles, and I`m not knocking them here...but to be fair if that was the reason for the reaction surely you could say the same thing about people going berserk at a Lady Gaga concert/Britney Spears appearance or whatever. The people at the time didn`t think it was an `historical and cultural event that`s never happened before`...more an explosion of teen-culture for a group that fitted into a new part of the market. Not belittling them, the Beatles are fantastic

  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ \(●^□^●)/♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • why were they crying? it's not that big of a deal.

  • have the real concert in CD edition, but the sound is not good as a hollywood bowl. this is a real footage, so its wonderfull. Hope some day someone post Shea Stadium 1966...because just I saw a few minutes or seconds..

Shea 66 was not much popular than shea 65 because lennon s words at this time...so Shea 66 was not succesfully. no 60.000....may be 40.000...so Im gonna amplify.

  • Audio from the Hollywood bowl, (god awlful too)NOT cow palace or any other palace for that matter!

  • Audio is from their first appearance at the Hollywood Bowl in '64. I know cause I own it....

  • read the description....

  • I understand that Elvis Presley and Brian Wilson were a bit scared or confused when they heared about the Beatles' fans reaction, when the Beatles conquered USA.

    Funny video.

  • THIS IS GREAT AUDIO.. TOO

  • It's great to see this footage, especially since I was there!

  • Tell us more. What was it like?

  • Your name wouldn't Peter Motropolis by chance would it ? If so I think ahmosis123 would like to chat !!

  • They sounded great. Too bad alot of their performance is cut out. I don't think I ever heard them play this good, even in the studio.

  • HI there...IF you want to hear a very good quality live concert...check out The Beatles Live in Philadelphia it's in 4 parts on Youtube...best sound and voice quality without interruptions.

  • I grew up in San Francisco. In 1964 I wasalmost 14 when I called into the local top 40 Station KFRC to play "Pick your favorite Beatle" I got through and although Paul was my fav, for some reason I picked Ringo and WON 2 tickets for this show! But alas! My former best friend Peter Metropolis (may hisname live in infamy, stole my tickets and he and his mom saw the Beatles that night.

So after 45 freakin' years, Thanks so much for letting me see the thing! Bob, now from Huntington Beach CA

  • most female fans in this video are just scaring me

  • so many glad people!!

  • So glad you included songs sung by Ringo and George! Thanks!

  • i love beatles

  • Thank you very much for posting this video, but if you have the complete show, please post it. Like: The Beatles: Cow Palace Concert, San Francisco 1964 (part 1) ... (part 2). :) Thanks!

  • your editing sucks!!!

  • i love 5 51 john!!! ringo!! i love uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu ahhhhhh!!!!

  • Stunning footage GREAT job editing these different things together to recreate everything. WOW. 5*****

  • LOVE THE BEATLES!!!

Just drove by the Cow Palace and Candlestick Park in San Francisco on Saturday.....visited the corner of Haight Ashbury too....oh...but oh so late!!!!

I'd have been one of those crazy screaming little girls who stopped their live tours! :)

  • Great footage.

  • The problem with the Rolling Stones is so many of the songs on their albums are not that good -- a lot of filler besides the good songs. The Beatles didn't do that.

  • and at the same time they didn't put their singles on their albums when the stones did

  • Plus the two roadies killed in 2007 who would still be alive if they weren't touring which was my point. And I believe the Hells Angels were held accountable for the death in 1970. Whether he was pointing a gun at the stage or not is the real question.

  • Great mixing of the audio and video, thanx. Beatles blew the doors off 1950's /early 60's U.S. 'conformity'. Scared the crap out of conservatives. Nixon tried to deport Lennon, FBI had 3 inch book on him. About the screams: I wonder how females feel about fact they stopped touring because of it. Beatles said no point in playing, nobody can hear the music. Read the books on them, it's a fact. Saw 'Wings Over America' tour in 76' at Boston Garden. As close as I got to Beatles. It was incredible.

  • they stopped becouse they were selling out stadiums anymore

  • You aren't serious, are you? Just view some of the interview clips here on YouTube. Paul states it clear as day -- "We stopped playing live because you couldn't hear the music over the screams. It was pointless!"

  • @omphallos Yep, thats about it they were victims of there own success. They got to the point where they could only do stadiums PAs weren't big enough no one could hear anything etc.

  • Am I right in stating that alot of the audio is from Hollywood Bowl 64, I do have a keen ear.

  • we can just barely imagine what the beatlemania really was... I think we will never see again such a crazy passioned obssesion.

  • This is for EduMartins 1981. I don't have to imagine, I was there! The Beatles always delivered and consistently. Sometimes I couldn't believe it when a new album came out. Every song was great! It was a good feeling knowing they were around.

  • harp125 you should be thankful the Beatles stoped touring. I'm sure a few lives were saved because of it. How many people were killed at Stones concerts anyway?

  • harp 1925.......Do yourself a favour, go to your nearest Music store, take in all your vinyl records, cassette tapes, CD's, DAT & your ipod. Hand them over to the girl behind the counter and tell her that you are doing so because you are too stupid to be allowed to own any music.

  • The stones have ONE thing in their favor, and that's longevity, stones fans should be happy though,#2 of all time aint bad.

  • Very cool footage. This Cow Palace show was the first show on their summer '64 american tour. I'd never seen this footage before, and I've seen a lot.

  • i love you tube hope to add some of my own soon

  • That's about the most complete film of John Lennon doing the solo on "You can't do that," I've come across so far!!!

  • they had no NO monitors. They had no NO soundboards. They had no NO synch tapes, voice overs, earphones, sound managers, Dolby, etc. What would YOU sound like playing behing a jet engine?

  • you obviously don't know your ass from your elbow-I've heard plenty of Stones live performances that sucked-especially in comparison to their recordings.

  • You are a moron-The Stones were never in the same class as the Beatles-

  • The Stones thrived with live performances only because the technology for concerts improved in the late sixties and seventies, after the Beatles quit performing. The Beatles never got "big and greedy." They did not make millions when they were performing, and were cheated out of rightful royalties, like many other artists of that time were, as well.

  • Thanks to Brian Epstein, the 1964 tour of North America was nearly all one night stands.

  • wow this really brings back memories. I was up in the nose bleed section with my two sisters and my cousin ,I was still in grade school. It was the concert of a lifetime. It is a shame they are demolishing it ,to develop all that land. What to speak of all the horseback riders out of stables. Too bad it was a great show venue

  • thank you

  • does anyone know if they are still trying to tear down the cow palace??

  • video may be authentic from the cow palace, BUT THE AUDIO IS FROM THE AUGUST 23, 1964 HOLLYWOOD BOWL SHOW, I HAVE THE WHOLE SHOW ON CD. The intro of the group was by bob eubanks and rob foster from radio station KRLA in los angeles.

  • This must have been packed

  • Great work on editing!

  • omg THE GIRLS THAT ARE SCREAMING ARE CRAAZAY!!!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... them girls..shh!! i cant hear the music! lol. was anyone one of them hysterical girls?? your so lucky to have gone to these concerts. its like an amazing out of this world experience

  • my mom was there!

  • That's me taking a photo at 3:31 and sitting next to the hysterical girl at 3:54. Does anyone know her?

My Dad traded seats with her so she could see. I'd love to hear from her - or from anyone else who can find themselves in the clip.

Did anyone else remember spending the next day scraping jellybeans off the bottoms of your shoes? :)

  • Wow that's awesome that you found yourself! :)

  • That is so cool!

  • @mymacca1 Lucky you!! That is impressive. Sounds like your dad was cool!

  • @mymacca1

Dude you just popped outta nowhere haha

  • the AUDIO IS FROM HOLLYWOOD BOWL, BUT GREAT FOOTAGE

  • unbelievable Beatles live concert that i attended at 15 years old...(me at 6:46-6:51) in white sweater, right side, with hands over my ears..ha ha...thanks 'stobener' for the video post...5 stars*****

  • really doug? is that u?

  • straight to favorites...Douglas and the beatles in the same video..didnt even have to think about it:)

  • There will be Beatles fans and lovers long after everyone one of us are gone. Yes They are that great. We may not live forever but the Beatles sure will.

  • Absolutely -- people will research their individual tracks, all takes, in music libraries all over the world. We were all fortunate to have seen any of them living. When I first heard them, we all knew it was something special, but who could have predicted it.

  • I was 13 the local radio station had a deal,10 bucks got a ticket,a bus ride and a box lunch from Cecil`s golden chicken. It literally changed my life!I SAW THE BEATLES!!

  • The audio is obviously from the 64 Hollywood Bowl show and NOT this actual concert.

  • treu, is from hollywood bowl.

  • they were like gods.

  • f***ing insane!!! i wish i could have been there. i was born in 1972, and im a huge fan. i really missed out on the biggest cultural phenomemon to ever grace this planet!!!

  • I'm lucky -- I've seen Paul four times, in four decades (and Lovely Linda twice!) and Ringo twice. And I saw Elvis on Ed Sullivan when I was 5 and the Beatles when I was 12. But I wouldn't wish the 60s on anyone, except for the music (and we still had Freedom of the Press, but that's another story...)

  • Bands have come and gone that have been popular and made an impact on culture but the Beatles were the first and no one can take that away. I am so glad there was video/film of them to at least see them perform.

  • This was a very special eveniong for me. My Dad took me to this concert for my 12th B-day, he died of a massive heart attack the following April.

You can barely make me out in my 'pagoda' eyeglasses sitting next to the gal who is crying with her face in her hands. There is also a shot where I stood to take a photo with my "Brownie" camera.

I will always remember my Dad's comment as we left the concert hall; "Keep your eye on that 'Paul McCartney' fella",and so I have-for 44 years now!

  • i'm so jealous cause you've been on a beatles concert. it must have been great to live in the 60s!

  • except the part where you're really old now..

  • oldest sister was there.. with some of are cousins, my sister passed away in 1988 but, she told me many times when she WAS THERE. when the BEATLES, played the cow palace, and she also witnessed there last show at candlestick.... i was just 2 months old in aug of 1964... lol

  • Thanks Pete Wilson for taking me to this concert! Loretta

  • EXCELLENT JOB with the sound matching!!

  • To me they're still one of the most creative, fun, amazing, bands, with some of the most creative arrangements, lyrical songs, great harmony, cute looks, bitchen guitars, man what else can I say. That alone puts them up pretty high, but I'm still trying to "garner" whatever "it" is that they had that swept up the whole world, but whatever "it" is, they had it. Marc

  • The Beatles were that infrequent enigma that occurs and blindsides the establishment (corporate music, TV, radio, social commentators, political and religious leaders, etc). In the US, we had Tin Pan Alley writing dull music for "groomed" stars (Fabian, Frankie Avalon)and manufacturing the latest dance craze; and BOOM! you have the Beatles, exotic (English), witty, playing US Rock, Pop, and Rockabilly. Writing their own songs, too. Took the Record Companys Years to put the regain control.

  • I remember seeing both Elvis and the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, and to me, they're both an enigma, and a "phenominin" if you will. They both seemed to capture the world, by storm. Both of them did their own thing, and both had women going ga ga over them. Amazing stuff to watch. I love them both, and still do, in spite of their quriks, and ups and downs. Marc

  • Elvis and the Beatles were complex individuals, and good individuals in the pressure cooker of fame and wealth. Elvis's goal be a Movie Star, the Beatles goal to be bigger than Elvis. Frank Sinatra had Bobby Soxers fainting and screaming, and he was just a crooner. The Beatles and Elvis shook up both the listening public and the establishment. The power of Rock and Roll, infectious. I heard the Beatles Guitars through the PA outside the Cow Palace in 8-65, 1000% better than their LPs. I was 8.

  • dag man those people seem like there gonna have a heart attack or like havving a seazure i think if any of the beatles singers touched one of the girls that unfortunate girl will die of a pannic attack, who agrees??

    ]heheheheh

  • So I'm home from college in summer '64, age 19.A woman we knew called up practically begging me to drive her and her daughter, turning 16, and girlfriends, over to S.F.(I lived about 20 miles north, in Marin Co.)for this concert. She said "We have a ticket for you, I just want you to do the driving and kind of watch out for the (safety of the)girls".I didn't really care, but they were friends, so I went.I have never seen anything like it.I was amazed to see the crowd reaction.Could barely hear!

  • lol

  • This is amazing!

Where was this stuff "hidden" for all these years...Native of SF, been to the Cow Palace several times over several decades and -- this is just extraordinary...Wow! Thanks for posting!

  • I purchased a legit DVD on Ebay of the August 1965 Cow Palace concert my sister went to (had some earlier footage) however this wasn't included. I was too young to attend, but you could here the Guitars over the PA system across the street. It was so much more raw and energetic than the albums. It was the best and most exciting of times.

  • They were more than Music/Musicians they were new Messiahs/Shaman/Gurus for a whole generation & thier message of Love & peace is a timeless theme that has never been more important to express in life than Now, with a world in such turmoil George & John are so dearly Missed & to think if John had not died in 1980 we more likely than not would have had a full blow reunion By this time & believe me the world sure could have used one in 2001

  • exactly
