The beginning theme music fits the theme well - world in near chaos with pockets of extra terrestrial cults looking to the sky for deliverence...fits well with the 70s obession with apocalytic themes.
The muggers are upper class because the world economy is bankrupt and kids who would have normally become lawyers, doctors, stockbrokers, politicians, etc have had to resort to crime to survive. This idea works better in the novel
"In that last quarter of the Twentieth Century, the whole world seemed to sicken. Civilised institutions, whether old or new, fell, as if some primal disorder was reasserting itself. And men asked themselves ... /why/ should this be?"
I just heard: Simon MacCorkindale, who played a role in this show, recently passed. I'll watch this show tonight to remember him.
1979 or 2012 ???????????

Simon MacCorkindale was lovely. What a sad loss for Susan George.

@Angie2489 Hang on. By RIP Simon, do you mean McCorkindale? I hadn't heard of his death. If it is McCorkindale, then I am sorry to hear that.
