Ha ha, have had this album since release but only today realised the significance of the title, 'Haiku-esque' when I looked up the lyrics. Very clever Mr. Bibio.
This is a beautiful song. I love it so much. Recently I discovered Bibio through another artist I like a lot called Soft Powers. They did a cover of this song.
@Nagraath way to incorrectly comprehend the point of what i was saying. i'd be willing to be you've never opened a science book in your life aside from the ones you still have at your high school right now, which you probably haven't read either. however, if you want to talk about the sciences i'd be happy to take you to school.
@InKursion this track fully fades out before sugarette (the next song on the album) begins so i think this is actually part of the track and not the next song being mixed in. Anyhoo, why am i still going on about this? :) hehe, have a good day and thanks for the upload
@solconnection2 I don't see how it ruins the song at all. Very atmospheric. A mix of many emotions. Not to be taken literally. Just meant to creep/freak you out a little. Compliments the song perfectly. VERY influenced by the Boards of Canada track titled From One Source All Things Depend.
@prefusehead I understood that it's not to be taken literally, but i just don't think it works...it's such a strong piece on it's own and and it's inclusion feels like it takes some focus away for me, it's trying a little too hard to be intellectual. In the context of most BoC tracks it would probably go really well. Anyway, glad you like it, i've chopped the end off my copy :)
@solconnection2 I completely disagree... the ending is my favorite part! It's so hauntingly beautiful. I'm not religious either but something about the way he says "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me." just gets to me. It gives me chills...
@solconnection2 Sheer ignorance. This music is Bibio's expression, the only thing that's ruining it are your eyes (figuratively). There's tons of beauty in our world, you just need to have the right eyes to see it.
@LusterPurge5678 hey mate, my opinion that i don't like the ending is just as valid as your opinion that you think it's beautiful, beauty is not some quantifiable thing that floats around and can be measured, it's a personal experience/process that depends on many interrelated happenings. Maybe it''s you who is ignorant to suggest that just because someone doesn't see things the way you do that they are somehow inferior.
@solconnection2 you said the preaching ruins an otherwise gorgeous track. Youre speaking too concretely. You cant say anything ruins anything because it's all sheer perpective. I didnt say you were ignorant due to the fact that i understand the end, and you can't, i said it because you were expressing your opinion on a concrete pretense, and not in abstract perspective. Inferior?? you're attatchment, not mine. Bibio's creation=his truth, and for us? only mere connatations and labels like "weird"
@LusterPurge5678 it is unnecessary to take the spine out of every aesthetic judgement by prefixing it with "in my opinion" , that's pretty much a given isn't it?. Sharing "sheer perspective" is what humans do. Your comment "There's tons of beauty in our world, you just need to have the right eyes to see it" came across as fairly condescending/superior in the context of you calling me ignorant :) phrased differently it's an opinion i mostly agree with.
@solconnection2 :oO0o i would say it's necessary when surrounded by people who create such absolute fixed expressions about their values, views and opinions, and i do believe that ignorant can mean just unaware. Plus aesthetic?? It has nothing to do with aesthetics, but only adequately articulating one's abstract means. Plus considering that views and perceptions are equally valid upon one's own reflection, there really is no point in continuing this illimitable battle.
@solconnection2 cool good thing is i can just give you a fat thumbs down and move on. you should probably consider posting less since you're having absolutely no positive effect on anyone here.
@scorpiondick91 if i thought expressing a negative opinion on a tiny portion of a song i otherwise love would get people so upset i never would have said anything. Next time you criticize art somewhere i hope someone is there to tell you to shut up and go away so you know what that feels like.
No fuckin' shit, for fuck sake, who the fuck said we cant? I should kick that mother fuckers ass. God damn it, fuck him or her. The fag or dyke. FUCK!
When I first heard the album on my ipod, the part starting at 2.22 blew my head away. I went straight home and extended this part for about 6 minutes in logic studio
Yeah, that was my bad dude. I thought you were commenting on the video rather than responding to another comment. The youtube commenting system fucking sucks.
Actually, with touring and record companies being forced out of their massive cut of record sales (which artists generally get about 15 percent of these cuts mind you) artists are making more money with all the illegal downloading, if you don't leave me google it. Read and be enlightened.
It might be benefiting them at the moment for whatever reason (perhaps chance?), but if we don't stop pirating and more people start doing it, then we _will_ drive artists out of business.
Money spent making music + No money from selling music = Broke artists. Haha :(
@FatFishes Artists don't make money from illegal downloading. The only positive effect it can have is spreading their music around, but fewer sales = less money. And not all artists can or want to tour. Some smaller labels have shut down due to piracy. Funny how people seem to think they have the right to do it. It's theft at the end of the day, that's all there is to it.
@mrbibio I used to always come across your album at the record store in the cd section. I'd contemplate whether or not I should buy it because I didn't like some of the songs. i came across it a week ago in the vinyl section and bought it. I'm glad I waited because my musical tastes have now matured to appreciate the whole album.
@mrbibio do let me know if you want the video removed! would never want to infringe on copyright or have a detrimental effect on an artist's livelihood! this video was uploaded when your album was making the rounds on popular music-review websites, and i thought perhaps a sample (and favourite track of mine) would help encourage people to commit-to-purchase after the already glowing critic praise! regards.
@InKursion Although youtube is effectively a place for music piracy, it does also publicise music and artists, so I'm not bothered by released tracks being up any more. I appreciate many users upload music as a form of appreciation. My gripe is more with people never buying music because they can download thousands of tracks with ease. I'd prefer to have a shelf full of records than terabytes worth of mp3s, that way I might actually listen to a whole song without skipping :)
@mrbibio sorry man, the truth is. downloading music (for free) helps musicians, if anything. exposure is one thing, sending it out to people, more exposure. and who the hell wants to purchase something if they haven't listened to it first? doesn't that make sense? i buy albums after i listen to them.
@eyesmcgyver It helps musicians if people download and then pay after, but as mp3 has become the popular format now there is less incentive to pay for something you already have - which is the case now because people download (illegally) 320kbps mp3s with artwork. If you were more into CD or vinyl, then I can see that downloading first might be the thing to encourage a purchase. I am told by people who have run labels for many years that artists don't shift the same units as they did in the past
@mrbibio I just bought my sister Mind Bokeh for her birthday and gave it a listen through, holy shit, at first I was a bit confused, I hadn't heard anything like it before, but dude seriously I fucking love it now :P
I'm 99% sure that the faint sample that starts at 2.18 (before the preacher) is from Wendy Carlos' "Timesteps," part of which is on the Clockwork Orange soundtrack
When she laughs The piano in the hall Plays a quiet note Waterfalls Turning gentle into rough Then gentle again Morning dew Washes yesterday's garden Ready for today Rocking chair Is still without a rocker But is still a chair When she laughs The piano in the hall Resonates a note
