@discofishing I suppose its becuase the Australian military wants to update, Blackhawks are good tactcally but I suppose they wanted multi purpose choppers that can carry in cargo AND troops, since the MRH-90 has a rear ramp and the Black Hawk Does not, Im not quite sure that they 'suck' they seem to work well from what I seen from the little demonstration at 5. AV and the townsville airshow, aw well time will tell, I suppose the Blackhawk will be with us for quite some time yet
@Gam3rzulu Think about what the US has done to its 60s. We've weaponized them, put refueling probes on them, turned them into CSAR birds. Look at the 160th SOAR and what they've done with their aircraft. Are you going to be able to do much of this with a MRH90? Doubtful, especially with it's performance shortfalls it has that keep countries like Germany from using them in A-stan. There's a reason Sweden chose the 60 over the 90. The ADF should upgrade their Hawks and buy new ones.
@discofishing true enough, I dont think we will ever 'replace' the our UH-60 its just australia wanted a heavy load capability by the looks of it. Although chinnoks would have been a better option we are getting some new amphibious assualt ships and they wanted a chopper that can do heavy loads AND be used on a carrier, to be honest you are right, but im sure such a suggestion will be on the table
does any thing in the adf work or do they sit around gathering dust because we cant get them to work and how come no one is being held accountable for the dismal US rate in all the adf machines,if it was private buisness id sack all the higher officers for being good for nothings.
should have bought EH101 merlins instead which is bigger and handles dusty conditions better, there have been a number deployed in Afghanistan and previously iraq and i havnt herd any issues with them
it cant operate from severe dusty/hot conditions for long periods of time, aah, what;s australia and where is Australian currently operating??? Cant do quickstops and operate as a true SF Aircraft platform like the S-70. We should have got Mike model Blackhawks. Every euro crap aircraft we buy isn't suited to our military and environment. What happens when we go to war somewhere the french dont agree wth again, stop selling us parts like they did with the mirage jets???
well we have the rights to build and manufacture the parts here 42 of the choppers are being built in brisbane so u dont have to worry about not getting parts getting the tiger was a poor choice but if is finaly working my dad is research and development in the army he wanted the cobra but what u gonna do. im not sure what his view is on this but i have read up on it and it looks like a good piece of kit and the version we use is different from the euro version to suit our needs
nickj0857, WTF would you know, th eMRH is a bucket of piss. The floor bent when the first women wearing high heels walked onto thet hing at an Airshow/openday in townsville, they said they fixed it, then 1RAR grunts got in it and fucked the floor even more, Bucket of shit overheats the avionics, only one has ever made it to Townsville so far without a problem flying from Brisbane after coming of the factory floor,
Its about time Australia bought a helicopter that is reliable and perfect for the job. The Blackhawks do good, but not the best. And the Navy are still screwed with their Super Seasprites but they decide to replace their SeaKings with the MRH90. ???. But its a great chopper.
They Canceled the Super Seasprite ages ago lol, the Navy Seahawks are the best . the ADF are currently looking at the umm i forgot what it is called but it's a newer version off the seahawk which the US is obtaining
MRH-003 still sitting on the ground in Brisbane. Same problems since the start of the year. Australian Aerospace deserves a medal for trying! At least they are thinking about it. Maybe they need to send a number of Managers over to France to solve the problems.
Why didn't yall buy more Blackhawks? NH90s suck.
