Is this game any good? I had it on XBOX 360, I got as far as getting out the first bunker (or whatever), but then I just couldn't bring myself to get any further. I don't have the game anymore, but now I'm thinking of getting it for PC. Does it take long for it to start to pick up a bit?
@TonyTorresTheThird I took a risk on this game when it first came out. I was new to the series and thought I would give it a shot. The first 2 - 3 hours I considered taking it back, but slowly it grew on me. This game world, will suck you in. You will find you have so many things to do and you will want to explore every inch. I recommended it to a friend who had the exact same feedback. Tough to get into, but brilliant in the end. It's in my top 5 games now. You will not be dissapointed.

i dont know if its just me but any time my FPS gets under 45 i just cant stand it. It always looks way to choppy and just bugs the shit out of me. but i guess that what makes me play at lower settings to get the higher FPS
i guess its possible but it'll be buggy. also you have to make sure your graphics processor (on the graphics card haha) meets the requirement (along with the ram and stuff)
@ThaDK00 What do you mean? I have both games too and I say they're the same game. Just different envirments. The animation is exactly the same in both games. The only real difference is that Fallout has guns. : /
@Terreos What are you talking about? The leveling system is COMPLETELY different, the characters, and story are completely different, V.A.T.S, radiation, the way you create your character, the lore. EVERYTHING is different, except for the dialog and they're in the same genre. That's like saying Fable 2 and Mass effect 2 are the same game.

You the one and only untrained wanderer is the only one that can save the world. V.A.T.S. and Radiation are gimicks and could've been done better.

@gamekidillon12 Glad you're enjoying this as much as I am. But, the point that you keep missing is that I'm not comparing them in the way you keep mentioning. I think I've said it three times now? Fallout 3 is the same game as Oblivion because it has the same animations, sounds, voices from Oblivion. The gameplay is very similar. Bethesda could've done so much more with the game but, instead basically copied Oblivion and tweaked it. If you can't see that well I feel bad for ya.
@gamekidillon12 Yes there is. Even though the graphics are basically the same they are more well polished in Fallout. And for the record I liked Fallout 3. But, it could've used alot more side quests that I think Oblivion did better. ;)
@Terreos i loved fallout 3 but its not that they didnt have enough side quest because they actually do have alot its that they dont feel like your changing the wasteland at all which is the whole point of the game
@93msheen You know that's a good point. Alot of the time there was alot of "blank" spots if you were walking the waste lands. And you didn't have to eat or drink radiated food since you could just use stims. If they implemented a hunger and thirst system then you'd have to worry more about radiation. Since everything has radiation. Just a thought.

I was playing this game today, and I was playing with 4xAA and 16xAF on Ultra High and was getting an average of 60 fps in-game, while playing off of an external hard drive! Specs are in my channel.
Don't complain when xbox360 & ps3 games are released early and PC gamers have to wait months upon months, that's the reason. Some good games never come to PC because people would rather steal the game than not purchase it like others. And if you get caught, hope you have $250,000.
i have this game for ps3 but its a fun game, theres lots of missions and the storyline is great! you wont get bored of it i garuntee! plus you can do watever the hell you want in the game like shoot innocent peopl and steal shit from people and pickpocket them and you can even blow up a city if you turn to the evil side haha. but in the end itss a fun ass game!

I overclock my xbox 360 to "realtime" ya know the time it takes to put the cd in and turn it on. I get 60fps at all times. The hard part was cost. It cost me 32 bucks for Fallout3, as my 360 was free. You people waste so much money on your systems and it seems you still cannot get them up and running right. What a lame hobby.
And FYI I get 8x AA and 16x by going into the catalyst and setting the option there also on edge detect with temporal on also which makes the AA all that better and more strenuous on you system try that see how low you FPS drop then LOL especially if you struggle on the games ultra high settings.
Mabye overheating? Too much overclocking? Any power hog? Got enough PSU (power) to power it all? Drivers working correctly? All the cards slot into the right slots; and right in?
I hope that helps somewhat; I'd need a 100% detailed, full System diag list to help some more.
download the high res texture pack for fallout 3 , also change settings in the .ini file in the fallout 3 directory to increase the performance almost too 300-400 % . if you have a good enough computer too handle this . it will look like god himself made this game.

the selection of bodyparts isen't a must its called V.A.T.S and you have AP (points) that you spend everytime using V.A.T.S and the 3rd to 1st person is option you decide what you want Bre ;D

Not dissing Fallout 3, but Bethesda should have used a Different Engine on this one. For example, the Unreal Engine 3. Look How good Bioshock turned out. Oh well, Fallout 3 is still a good game. :)

when he needed the ammo, against the 2 final mutants, he have no more assault rifle ammo..and he turned to shotgun at 10 meters distant(with, in my oppinion, is ammo waste as well, i just fire my shotgun to 1shot1kill at 1m distant or less, unless im on a realy critical situations where my only weapons is shotgun and i cant get closer.
Easy.. this game is not that demanding. I play it with 4850 on max. But be prepared for a disappointment because the graphics is pretty bad in this game - and I am talking about maxed out graphics. It is pretty much the same as in Oblivion.
I have a 9800 GX2 OCX and i had to turn on external bump mapping and custom shaders just to have it look reasonable. And poor console owners cant even download modifications.
Is your memory/RAM done by Corsair, in 2gb sticks because I think we have the same Ram. It's great stuff, it runs everything you could think of really well.

yeah i have fraps too i have Core i5 2.6ghz (quadcore) geforce 9800GTX 4gb ram windows 7 ultimate 64bit.
when i play mw2 on highest i have like 60fps thats playable and whn i record it drops to 30/40 and then it isnt playable anymore.
Also played mw2 on lowest setting then i recorded and my fps was 120+
then i recorded it dropped to 30/40 again =.=

If you want to game (SMOOTH) I recomend you buy a new desktop computer OR laptop that is made for gaming in "high-Res" games....

It cost me 32 bucks for Fallout3, as my 360 was free. You people waste so much money on your systems and it seems you still cannot get them up and running right. What a lame hobby.

And FYI I get 8x AA and 16x by going into the catalyst and setting the option there also on edge detect with temporal on also which makes the AA all that better and more strenuous on you system try that see how low you FPS drop then LOL especially if you struggle on the games ultra high settings.

Aslong as it has 1.5ghz, it's fine. 2GHZ atleast for a Gaming PC.
The processor is fine.
2GB Ram is fine.
Graphic card may need updating, Just check it has enough room, Enough power with your PSU, and a PCI-E 16x.

Well, theres so many reasons why.....
No Two Systems (even with same hardware)
Can be 100% same.
Mabye overheating? Too much overclocking? Any power hog? Got enough PSU (power) to power it all? Drivers working correctly? All the cards slot into the right slots; and right in?
I hope that helps somewhat; I'd need a 100% detailed, full System diag list to help some more.

download the high res texture pack for fallout 3 , also change settings in the .ini file in the fallout 3 directory to increase the performance almost too 300-400 % . if you have a good enough computer too handle this . it will look like god himself made this game.

the selection of bodyparts isen't a must its called V.A.T.S and you have AP (points) that you spend everytime using V.A.T.S and the 3rd to 1st person is option you decide what you want Bre ;D

Not dissing Fallout 3, but Bethesda should have used a Different Engine on this one. For example, the Unreal Engine 3. Look How good Bioshock turned out. Oh well, Fallout 3 is still a good game. :)

when he needed the ammo, against the 2 final mutants, he have no more assault rifle ammo..and he turned to shotgun at 10 meters distant(with, in my oppinion, is ammo waste as well, i just fire my shotgun to 1shot1kill at 1m distant or less, unless im on a realy critical situations where my only weapons is shotgun and i cant get closer.

Easy.. this game is not that demanding. I play it with 4850 on max. But be prepared for a disappointment because the graphics is pretty bad in this game - and I am talking about maxed out graphics. It is pretty much the same as in Oblivion.

I have a 9800 GX2 OCX and i had to turn on external bump mapping and custom shaders just to have it look reasonable. And poor console owners cant even download modifications.

Is your memory/RAM done by Corsair, in 2gb sticks because I think we have the same Ram. It's great stuff, it runs everything you could think of really well.
