Its easy.

...however, the competition- CBS' "LOST IN SPACE" and NBC's "THE VIRGINIAN"- forced the network to move "OZZIE & HARRIET" from their established 7:30pm(et) Wednesday night time period, to Saturdays at 7:30 in January 1966. There, competition fron CBS' "JACKIE GLEASON SHOW" and NBC's "FLIPPER" just about diminished it to the point where Ozzie decided to end the series after 14 seasons [and a combined 22 years on radio and television].
This was the second color episode of the series, originally telecast on September 22, 1965 [Bob LeMond, announcing]. By the fall of '65, ABC had enough financial and technical resources to begin colorcasting about 40% of their prime-time schedule (before that, it was only two or three color shows a season)- and the Nelsons were among the first to convert from black and white to full color....
Ok someone correct me if I'm wrong.... did Rick and Kris's kids ever appear on the show? Maybe it's just a misplaced memory but I could have sworn I remember seeing Tracy on the show at least once... or am I mistaken?
I dont like anyone knocking OZZIE & HARRIET Its great television. great talent and today look at the filth sex violence in movie tv etc 1952-66 this seies must had done something right. TV is suppose to be make believe . Skip Young as Wally was a great bonus 1958-66 classic tv
@BobChippewa Unless you're watching the evening news or a documentary, isn't most television "fantasy and nothing else!" I think most people watch television more for it's entertainment value than anything else.
We know all too well that dreadful things are happening around the world. People in the fifties and sixties were aware of it as well.
@BobChippewa I grew up at the same time you did, and we watched TV to be entertained and get some laughs. Why is it that people can no longer enjoy the gentle humor and family fun of those times without getting so serious? Thank God I can remember a time like this on television, these programs were sure better than the garbage they have on now! There is a reason these shows are still popular: they speak to the heart. There is always sorrow in life, we need joy and laughter to balance the tears.
@VictoriaRu29 What a great comment Vic! I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm glad that we younger generation can still watch/have access to the old shows. I enjoy them a lot, takes your mind off the crap happening in today's world.

Beautiful, just beautiful words and yet speak the truth!
I had never seen an episode in color. I used to watch "Ozzie's Girls" in the 70's and that was in color. This is wonderful, though. After all the b/w shows now to see the Nelson's in color. Wow.
You're welcome Keren. I think the Nelson's leaned toward pot roast :) I like pot roast but the fried fish was incredible! Too bad gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins :(

I grew up watching Ozzie and Harriet. And all I can say they did not reflect of what was going on this country! It was true fantasy and nothing else!

Excellent in color. I saw an episode recently from 1966 that was in color, but it was in bad shape. It had Rick's wife, Kris Harmon, in it.

I'm glad you liked it. I'm not sure but this may be the only color episode available in the public domain.
