Joseph Gabriel Esther "Joe" Maneri (February 9, 1927 - August 24, 2009), was an American jazz composer, saxophone and clarinet player. Violinist Mat Maneri is his son.
Aw, don't tell me Joe is gone. He and his family came to my 1990 wedding. We were members of the same congregation. I'm sure he would have played for free! I had no idea he'd later become famous. Very sweet guy. For weeks he kept telling me how much he enjoyed our wedding!
It's still difficult for me to see video of Joe without getting pretty intense inside. However, I watched this collection through and once again felt his presence. Thanks for putting this up there, I look forward to looking at the rest of the Tributes.
