I don't want to open a debate to the true definition of emo. It was created as emotional hardcore to describe bands like Fugazi, but record labels and artists have bastardised the tag so far that it holds none of it's original meaning. Now it has connotations of people listening to shit music, caring too much about fashion and harming themselves.

Yeah this is chiptune, not nintendocore. If you want nintendocore then Sky Eats Airplane, Horse the band (heck, they coined the term, though admittedly they did it as a joke), 100DEADRABBITS, iamerror, Dungeon Elite, and I Shot the Duck Hunt Dog are good places to start.
