@BoomBoy13 Unfortunately, Nope. The slot at the bottom is a port for the enclosure to tune the low frequency reponse of the single 10" inside. You might be suprised at how well it does for just a single 10" though. If you're seriously needing to knock down walls or break up gall stones, you're going to need a bunch more than 100w and a couple 10"s though.:) In that case, you'd be better off going with a higher powered rig with multiple cabs instead. Thanks much for watching !!
@ubertuber57 hey, i've got a 100 watt peavey combo amp and was thinking of getting one of these acoustics. are they good, or should i save up for the bigger stack.
I want that bass! I don't know if you did a cover for Led Zeppelin's Ramble On, but there was agreat cover with someone using that desingtive color of bass in the video.
great review. ive been looking for a better bass amp for the practice space than the one i got now and this seems perfect. how do you think this amp is compared to an ampeg 100w because i was lookin at one of those too.
@deathheadproductions It's been a while, but the last time I played through one of the 100w Ampegs (single 15" combo,) I remember it to be a good sounding amp. A 15" is typically going to have a different type of sound than a 10", especially depending on the volume you're playing at, your EQ settings. This amp will take up less floor space than the Ampeg and should hold it's own with it-- though it's always best to take a listen for yourself first, to see if it suits your tast and playing style
@jakes197 Not likely...unless it's miked and a tame crowd. IT's nice little amp, I just think you'd want a bit more in that situation, if it's drums/bass/guitar, etc. Thanks for watching!!!
I have one of these and I love it. The other day I hooked up the head to my Markbass 2x10 4 ohm cabinet to see what it sounded like, in a band practice situation in a fairly small room. Seemed to me like the sound was slightly beefier, not much. Either way, it's a great practice amp and can be used for very small gigs.
i bought this set up and love but how big of a venue could i play at for this to still be a good amp? or does it not matter since they mic the cabs anyway? ive never played a live show before so feel free to explain anything and everything to me please
@Melvinpoindexter182 Techincally, you could--if you used an 8 ohm cabinet, you would only get about 50 watts of power, a 4 ohm cab would get the full 100 watts. At that though, since this head is not sold seperately, you'll be better off just using the 1x10" cabinet that comes with it. There's a bunch of nice, small amp heads for about the same 300 bucks or so with more features...try one of those with a cab, in my opinion. Thanks for watching!
@yomammaonastick Pretty much no need... The cab isn't sold seperately, so yo'd get the head anyway, and you'd have to lay the cab on it's side for a regular amp head to fit. If you've already got the amp head, then I'd reccommend just looking for the right cab for you. Thanks for watching!
I have a beat up Crate BX 50 that is going to cost me around 80 bucks to repair. I've been playing for about a year and just play around the house or with my friends at their house. Do you think I should spend the 80 on the crate or buy this one for around 300 at GC? I
@mrbooger33333 In my opinion, if you've got the money, it's much better spent on this Acoustic, or towards something else. If you've got the opportunity, go listen to one in person and see what you think. You'll have a bit more low end with this, and a touch more volume than the Crate. Thanks for watching!
@jakewestrich99 Around 1-1/2 or so...which doesn't really mean a whole lot--in that a bass with a stronger output (or if you turn up the bass on the amp EQ section,) will use up the available power of the amp when the volume knob is set at a lower number than a bass with a wekaer output (or turning down the bass EQ.)
The amp certainly will get 'louder' than it does in the video. My basses have a fairly strong output, and tend get loud in a hurry. Hope that answered your question!
Excellent demo and review, I'm so glad you played the EBMM Sterling. I have one as well and it was great to see it in action with the 260.
I went into GC today with my Kala uBass and was going to buy an Acoustic B20 (20w 1x12 combo). I wasn't happy with the output of that amp...but then i saw a 260 Mini Stack in the corner...HOLY COW!!! what a difference.
@elskeetro I currently have the B20, Its a great amp, when youre alone. I was asked to join a band, but, as you said, the output is not satisfying, so im upgrading to the 260!
im very happy with the acoustic brand though, if youre looking for an amp, go acoustic!
@xXNiTeBriGAdEXx Yeah, i ended up going with the acoustic B100, bigger than i wanted, but it was cheaper and had more features and output than the 260. I love the B100.
@plue1995 thanks for watching. You'll have to decide if you like the tone for yourself. For me, I can use the tone for any style, you just may not have the VOLUME for every situation (you won't keep up with a 100 watt guitar amp through a 4x12 with this. but for smaller rehearsals or gigs, you might do just fine.)
Great review and video! I currently have the Acoustic B100 with 100W into one 15” speaker. It sounds really good! But it doesn’t have the input for a CD or MP3 player, nor does it have a headphone jack. So I was wondering if you had played the 260 side-by-side with the B100 to see which one sounded better? Would it be worth the extra money (about $50) to get the 260 with the input and headphone jacks? Or would I lose good sound by “downgrading” to a single 10” speaker? Thanks for your opinion.
@h0ll0wman1 Thanks for watching. See a few posts down for my thoughts on a single 15" vs a 10". I haven't heard the B100 to make a direct comparison, but in short, the 1x15" will sound different than a single 10", and handles extra low end a bit better at louder volumes. Hope it helps!
@dTbFan72 For a nice home practice/ low-key rehearsal/gig amp...I think it's absolutely worth the about $300 they cost. Whether the sound and size is right for you, is something you'll need to decide for yourself.
@EddieBeatle83 Theoretically, you could add another speaker (in that there's enough room,) BUT...the way the cabinet is voiced for the stock speaker, you're not going to gain anything significant in either tone or volume by doing so--and almost certainly, you'll wind up with LESS quality in the tone and efficiency. Stick with the single 10" If you want/need more...then buy a different amp or cab in this case. Hope it helps!
@mysterydrum I haven't had the opportunity to try out the Micro-VR. I've been very interested to hear how it sounds as well. The Ampeg head definitely has more features (line outs, etc) and the Ampeg cab is a 2x10, but I'm sure the cab is voiced much differently than this Acoustic.
Overall --for about half the price of the Ampeg, This Acoustic was perfect for me. I'll bet the Ampeg VR is a great little amp, though!
@ubertuber57 its pretty awesome i havent tried out the acoustic mini stack but the ampeg sound awesome i was using a warwick corvette standard 4 sounded great so next time im at guitar center i'll have to try out the acoustic micro stack and compare them
Hey man great reveiw. You really know what your doing. You just got yousrself a subscriber. Oh I really like how you put the text over the controls and nut just plastered them somewhere on the screen. Great Job.
Excellent little amp. I was at a Guitar Center the other day and it was being demoed. The player plugged into another cab (4x10) and it was so loud the building shook. It also sounded great with the 1x10. great for practice or small rooms. Mike the speaker and it's a great little recording combo.
@prgsurf It does have a good amount of volume with just the standard single 10" cabinet. I was impressed with the volume and the fullness in the low end for the price. Also, agreed that this would be a nice little amp to mic for recording. Again, thanks for watching!
@ajzwart300 First , thanks for watching and apologies for the delay in answering...in my experience, a single 15" will probably be a little more forgiving if you run it hard (loud) for longer periods of time than a singe 10" ( * I say that, in that because of the speaker size, the 15" moves more air with less effort than a single 10". Especially if you like a bassy sound, you can risk overworking a single 10" at LOUD volumes. You're much better off with a 2x10 or 4x10 in that case.)
@cartogropher thanks for watching! If you're talking about the 1st generation Hamer Cruise at the very beginning- yeah, it's a nice, thin neck in the higher registers, much like a Rickenbacker, but with more frets! :) Again ,thanks!
Nice review! Pretty thorough. I've got the same amp and will probably do a review myself soon. Got a few vids with the amp in the picture too. I really like this thing; 100w is enough for open mic night at a bar.
@CGuitarist929 Thanks! It's always 'possible' to open up the cab, I'm sure... :) but quite frankly, the cab is designed for just the single 10" so I don't think you'd benefit by adding a second to the same cab. There's a decent amount of sound from it, as is--so if you're going to need to move more air, you're needing something a little bigger anyway. The head and cab are meant to go together as a set,as they're not sold seperately. I may do another demo using other cabs to compare soon.
I feel stupid, lol. I always thought these were meant for acoustic electric guitars...But I just found out that was the name....I now know what amp I'm getting when I get the paper together.
