  • UPDATE: I've since had the replacement Rectifier burn-out on my even with the 7.5A amplifier. Soo... spoke with Rick of Rick's Motorsports and he gave me credit on my already purchased R/R... and I added some additional money... and he made me a Custom R/R that uses MOSFET technology. I just had to deal with making mounting hardware since it was a bigger size than original. After a lotta scraped knuckles I finally got the new one mounted.

  • Man those PC800s have a cult following, don't they?

  • @phantom240 : Well you give-up some of the sportbike sexiness for a bunch of long-haul comfort and GREAT wind protection. And *IF* you can drive her mellow you can get some good MPG. I love being able to just put my helmet in the trunk when I reach my destination. She's a big girl, but doesn't feel as big as you would think. She can lean dang good due to low c of g.

  • Is "rattledge" a word?

  • @AshtonPhoto : Hehe... it is now! Sad to say... this setup proved to be too much of a demand on my electrical system without running another battery. It ended-up cuasing the Voltage Regulator/Rectifier to eventually fail/fry from the extra heat that this undoubtedly placed on it.

I replaced the R/R. This amp was 25A fuse, now have a 2ch which is 15A fuse but can run tri-mode. Picked-up a cheaper 8-Ohm woofer for that. Not as nice, crossn fingers it wont pop R/R again.

  • @TheGDizzo

Honda as much as admits that the PC has fragile electrics.

I wonder how much hassle it would be to add a battery.

  • @AshtonPhoto : Not really a hassle... I actually have a 2nd battery now because when R/R went bad I at first thought batttery might have been dying. Thing is the trunk area has a 20 Lbs weight limit per side and I don't want to put anything on the other side because I have to be able to put laptop (in case) in that side occasionally.

  • @TheGDizzo

Only 20lbs? Still, for a weekend getaway that's not too bad.

I hope to get a PC as soon as I can save my pennies. Does your have the self-cancelling turn signals? I can't tell from that angle.

  • @AshtonPhoto : No, the turn signals aren't self-cancelling. Just the normal ones where ya push-in the rockable button to cancel them.

  • @TheGDizzo

    Cool.

  • @TheGDizzo : Psssh... the R/R popped on that 15A fused amp too. Piss... back to the wimpy 7.5A 2Ch one I guess. Maybe someday I'll say fuggit and go the extra battery route. But not now.

  • how are the polk audio db 401s?

  • @cooliebois : I cannot recommend enough the db401's! Best possible bass output for 4" speakers. and the tweets are sweet without being harsh and piercing. In my initial testing I was amazed at how well the db401's playback some deep-bass songs like Warren G's - Regulate.

  • @TheGDizzo

Do these DB401s fit in PC800s panels fine?

I heard there's place only for 3.5" speakers and polk audio is 4"?

  • @HolmVanZajChick : The holes in the fairings are for 4" speakers, not 3.5". And the db401's are amazing!

  • Ha-ha! man you look like you were having fun...making me miss my PC I owned years ago.

  • @SR71BBFLYER : Hehe... I know the feeling. After my son was born 8-1-2007 I decided (for now) I'd better sell my FZ-1 to keep me outta trouble... and I always remembered how comfy and easy to maintain these were so I picked up another one. I love rollin' up on the scene now. With the FiiO headphone adapter it worked out just fine! That amp is soo nice I'm thinking about getting one for my truck to do the doors.

  • ok thanks im looking to put the cvt65 in my honda silverwing 600 in a SQ6.5 BOX

  • @ehannah67 - Why not make yourself an enclosure with FiberGlass? You'll have fun and learn a lot along the way. Plus it'll help you in maximizing the available internal volume in the finished enclosure vs. what you could do with a simple wood enclosure. Plus... ya gotta factor-in the pimpness of it being Fiberglass man! HaHA!

  • man thats banging i was looking at that sub and the kicker cvt65 i order the cvt65 do you no something about that sub

  • @ehannah67 Yeah.. I actually bought that one for my SportTrac when I first started the whole upgrading thing in my Ford. The JL 6.5" sub outperforms the cvt65 in my opinion. If you can... return the cvt65

  • AWESOME!!!!! lol check my shit out bro! Keep bumpin!

  • The rattle is from a sorta sub-piece that holds the license plate and the piece of body plastic behind the license plate. I think it'll be fairly easy to stop. Ugh.. now I just gotta wait for my headphone amplifier. I ordered a FiiO E5 off Amazon last night. Can't wait for Summer to get here for some flossin!

  • That's nice! Get some foam tape to take care of that rattle and you'll be set! Love the project!
