hi iam impressed i have been keen on these for a while i fly helis ,but of late byought a small kite for $6 that works on 4 points , left r and up and down so it would be easy to convert to rc hanglider , would you send me your idears or pics as well mant thanks grant e mail myjane@xtra.co.nz many thanks
My mate built one from scale Moyes plans and he had the figure mounted correctly with CG off the hang loop. The RC gear was in the harness and e and the servos attached to a G.I. Joe figures hands mounted on the base bar. He is pretty cool but a lot of work!!
No, there's no changing of cg involved! A servo (outside the figure, it's attached to the horizontal bar she is holding) is pulling cables. One cable is pulling one side of the 'wing' down, the other cable is letting go of the other side. This way you deform the whole wing and you have roll-control. There is no yaw-control, no rudder of any kind.
If you wish I can email you some detail photos or movies. I will send you a message with email adress.
The triangle at the back can be moved up and down and acts as an elevator. It has limited authority, but it's enough to fly around a bit. A servo under the belly of the figure pulls cables which pull down the wooden sticks half way the wing. By pulling down one side and letting go on the onther side you get a sort of 'wing warping'. It needs some careful adjusting (length of cables), but the result is the movie above.
Looks like you may need some battens to fix the sail flutter.

lgarrowspeedf40 4 years ago
so you change direction by changing the center of gravity! ok i understand now, thanks
