LOL... I used to know Jayce Fincher when he used to scoop ice cream out at the Hollywood Blvd. Hagen Daz. Him, Mike Rampley, Tony Jones... LOL... memories.
@Chuckdeisel76 : I agree wholeheartedly. If it were me, I'd be proud of whatever I've done, musically. Southgang got him to Los Angeles, where he was able to secure numerous record deals and production gigs. His abilities on guitar were well documented as a result of this band. Dude should just say , "Yes, that was me. It was what I was into at the time and I'm proud of it." Alas, some people just can't do the right thing.
I loved reading Butch's new book, especially about the Southgang years. They "wanted it" (success) just like so many 80s hairbands during that era. Obviously it didn't happen, so it was interesting reading later in the book how he was glad that they didn't "make it" because he wouldn't have had the opportunity to do what he did later in his career. Any lead singer of a former 80s hairband gets forever pigeonholed into that image, even if they want to branch out or try something new.
Ive been searchin youtube for some good kick ash up beat metal songs and the ones I have found all say Headbangers ball in the begining anyone know where I might find full episodes of it?
up to this day i cant believe how come guitarists back then are sooo good compared to today's guitarists. is it because of different factors: drugs are different back then, different diet, better pussies? lol!!!
Kinda pains me Butch Walker has gone on to produce crap like Rockstar Supernova and All Time Low. Still, has some decent production work and has done some great post-SouthGang stuff. Still, would love these guys to reunite!
@flowride68 thats hilarious, fuck him he should be proud of this music, some people are ungreatful douchebags! wahhh, i played glam metal and now i'm older i'm too cool for that shit..
Mann, it's songs like this that are full of spirit, that are alive! This song makes me wanna bust the speakers, and start dancing! It makes me wanna live! And the 80s and early 90s was full of lively songs, that made u wanna live and try something new! The music back then actually inspired u to be wild and enjoy the good times! Now a days, music is dull and boring! It doesn't have that rockin' spirit that 80s music has!
I seen these guys back in 1992, talk about a show that was really good. man what the hell happen to music now days, these guys were dam good, I miss the late 80`s early 90`s shit.
lets boycot the music today, so they will bring this stuff back.
GIVE ME MY 80`S / 90`s MUSIC. and take this 2000 crap back to were it came from. ok some of it can stay, but the crap you cant understand, that needs to go.
This video won the Headbanger's Ball "Ballbuster" for either 10 or 15 consecutive weeks back in the summer of 1991...so many times that it had to be retired so two new videos could be given a shot. This was at a time just barely pre-Nirvana when Headbanger's Ball was leaning towards Alice In Chains, Queensryche, and more industrial/heavy metal bands and away from the melodic stuff. Sorry if the Ballbuster thing was mentioned before. I thought Marvelous 3 were amazing, too.
Nice timing...Nirvana vs. Southgang...a little ruff timing guys...Still gonna go with with southgang on this one. Great melody. Better musicians, and just good, fun stuff!
@thestrawhead you should see what Butch Walker thinks of his days in Southgang. Look up the interview in Spin magazines 20th anniversary of Nevermind. He call the music he played in Southgang "shitty glam metal", screw him, sounds like he would pick nirvana over southgang.

Thank you for the memories. I remember sitting in my bed and listening to this tape, crying because Southgang was playing in my city and I couldn't see them. Wow.
This song, this band shook my world. I found about them in 94 and they are fantastic!! We just don't have many bands like this anymore. You just have to be lucky to have been around that band scene which I would call " Back in the day "

Hey, man, I catch your point in general, but Kurt was doing his own thing that worked for him until he got mixed in with bad business people. Instead of slamming other music, let's just be positive about what we like and let others do their own thing for those who like them, okay?
I'm kinda with you. I feel AIC was the best band to come out of the grunge scene. I don't think they were all shitty or "no talent bands" ratter52 you fucknut. But AIC was definitely a band doing some shit that nobody else was.
Well, when I say grunge I don't include certain bands, because I feel like they different enough that they didn't sound like Nirvana, but got lumped in with the grunge dudes. It's almost like how Motley Crue weren't really a hair band. They didn't have retarded 45 second shred solos that didn't serve the song. They didn't have 80,000 background vocal tracks. They always had a different feel to them than, say, Bon Jovi or Poison. In that regard, Jane's Addic.,AIC and Soundgarden were different.
There's a reason for that - the BUSINESS of the music industry changed. It wasn't music at the center of it; it had to do with money manipulation. Nirvana built their following prior to the management using them for a white collar crime cover up. They couldn't do that with the Hairs. That's why music has been commercially bad since 1993: exact business plan, and music was the victim - for EVERYBODY. You'll see soon enough.
Butch was not the lead singer, the singer's name was Jesse Hart.

Hello there fellow metalheads.
Instead of a Metal rebellion i propose a new plan.
1. Instead of bashin other metal artists, we need to unite. We cant fight against pop music if we arent even together.
2. Watch more and other metal videos to get it to the top of the youtube vid list
3. Instead of bashing pop, promote metal with logical reasons, not just "METAL RULES!!
If you like this idea, thumbs it up JUST so people can see it, and also spread it around if you like this idea
