@U1986NuclearGrounds@ogloosh, alright, let's stop spamming these comments with fights, we'll disrupt everyone who is actually trying to watch and leave feedback. I apologize to the actual viewers, BUT, I still though that you were over analyzing it. But whatever, it doesn't matter.
watching this at 27 years old reminds me of how the holidays were supposed to be. no stupid cell phones, no HD tvs, no bullshit, just simple holiday shows like this and being with family and friends. thats all you needed
this year i'm having a charlie brown thanksgiving. instead of turkey i'm having jelly beans, popcorn, toast, pretzel sticks and some sort of strawberry parfait thing for dinner :)
I really love that you left in some of the vintage commercials! My family has some holiday VHS tapes that we're having burned onto DVD rather than buying the professionally released DVDs, just so we can keep the old commercials. :)
Why does everyone think Marcy and Peppermint Patty are g*y?? This episode, and a couple others for that matter, prove that Peppermint Patty has a crush on Charlie Brown.
But like I said, this one's nice enough. Almost a twin cousin of the first special, just harmlessly downplayed. And Charlie didn't ruin things by mentioning the Little Red-Haired Girl. Snoopy and Woodstock; those stinkers and THEIR Thanksgiving feast, having held out on the kids.
It's funny. At this point, every time I thought I wouldn't have much ta say about a Peanuts cartoon, I found myself wrong. I wonder when the trend might break?
Either Schulz never knew such a woman, or he did but purposely ignored her. And unfortunately, we should know why.
Now about these constant retcons or other: As of late, I'm assuming the cartoons occur in the same order as the comics unless the plot states otherwise. In turn, the comics occur in the order they were published, mostly due to character introductions. Too bad the writers had to distort comic continuity just to piece the cartoons together.
My biggest gripe is the same as usual with Peanuts: character complexity and growth (well, the latter anyway) that'll be forgotten by the next cartoon. I'm of course talking about how Marcie talks some sense into PP. I only wish this sort of thing could happen more often, especially with other certain characters. I'll bet Marcie might even be able to confront the blatant double standards plaguing this series...but that's just wishful thinking.
"Isn't it peculiar, Charlie Brown, how some traditions just seem to fade away?" And you, Lucy, are clearly no help. One thing I'M thankful for is that she's never seen for the rest of this special.
This one's good, almost a twin cousin of A CB Christmas. I said in my review of the first special that popular thought has it no other special achieved the same balanced blend of humor and drama. But if any came close, at least with holidays, this one's MY pick.
so let me get this straight peppermint patty is a chick? wow , I never knew this and she is a dude chick and a hippie, thats funny how they were programming us for this stuff when we were kids. funny.
Nostalgia! Oh for a time of simplicity and peace... although in our home that is what exists! Happy Thanksgiving to all. We have so much for which to be thankful.
I'm off to a friend's Canadian Thanksgiving party tonight here in Swansea, UK, since she's here for university and isn't home for thanksgiving with her family.
There's going to be a big group of us there, so at least she'll have company on this special holiday. We're even going to be watching 'A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving' as well. We're all in our twenties, but hey it's nostalgia :D (I was even inspired to become an animation student because of Charles Schulz and 'Peanuts' :P
