  • Thank you for an easy to understand video.

    I have no questions.

  • IPAD 1 CAN CONNECT USB MIC? I THINK I PAD 2 ONLY! , ANYWAY CAN USE FOR RECORDING LIKE STUDIO SONG? MIXING VOCAL AND MUSIC IN GARAGEBAND?

  • @DetroitBORG could you record video with this plugged in?

  • It looks like an iPad 1

  • This is ipad 1 or 2 ?

  • @AmerulVEVO This is iPad 1, and no longer works since iOS 4.3 dropped the power output.

  • Will this work using a headphone like the Megalodon ?

  • @modelix123 I don't know, but not likely since Apple dropped the power output of the dock after iOS 4.3 and things like this microphone no longer work.

  • Wow

  • I can't get it to work with GarageBand ? Please help

  • @aee6317 This stopped working with iOS 4.3.

  • Does this work on the iphone?

  • Ok, now try to do it on iOS 4.3..... PWNED!

  • With the lastest OS version, no USB device will work, the solution is to use a powered USB port and it should work for you, either a YETI or any USB interface, I would think that the Icicle will work with a powered hub.

  • I have finally figured out how to connect my Yeti to my iPad without a power source ! ! ! I am TRULY portable with my condenser microphone again . Glory be .

  • How is called the software you use the record what you said

  • What about Blue icicle USB to XLR converter?

  • did you get a chance to try the Yeti with iPad 2 yet? thanks!

  • Will this work with the Behringer C-1 too ?

  • @AtariAndre42 I'm not sure now that they've dropped the power output with iOS 4.2, I know my Yeti USB mic no-longer works.

  • @DetroitBORG I got so excited when I saw this as I own a Yeti.. it's a shame it doesn't pass power. is there a workaround? Perhaps a dongle that passes power to the Yeti (and could possibly charge the iPad, too?

  • @BaltiSean You can use a powered USB hub to to get this to work. I have a demo on my channel and I'll probably do one again with the iPad 2 in the next week.

  • @DetroitBORG Short question beside the video: How much icons can you put at the bar which is at every side? I mean, where you have safari, mail, iPod, Facebook etc.?

Can these be 2-10? Or only 6?

    ;)

  • do you think this will work with the new garageband app?

do you think that we will be able to plug in a usb audio interface to record drums with?

  • @jmedina36 The Blue Yeti no longer works beucase iOS 4.2 dropped the power output through the dock and now there isn't enough to power the mic. However, any powered audio device/instrument or mic will work...I'm not sure what micrphones still work.

  • How close are you to the mic when u talk? Thanks for review =)

  • @grimreapper Pretty close, within a foot.

  • 

  • awesome! this is the exact mic i have

  • does it come with a microphone bilt in?

  • @Solid3lectriX The iPad has a built in mic next to the headphone jack.

  • @DetroidBORG whY better this yeti or e snowball ?!

  • @MEESH810 The Yeti, hands down.

  • @DetroidBORG do you have an xbox ?!

  • @MEESH810 Yes!

  • Cool vid! Just to let you know, the iPad will out it's sound to the headphone jack on mic while it is connected and not the iPad's speaker.

  • @Cauliflower2011 Yep, good to point out!

  • What app was that?!

  • What type of auxiliary cable you connect to the iPad? is it normal 3.5mm cable (both side male) one end to ipad, and another end to output of amp?

  • @paiboonb I didn't use a 3.5mm aux cable in this video.

  • Cool. I have a Blue Snowball mic and the iPad and Camera Connection kit. It works wonderfully. I might be using this to record podcasts since there's no sound coming from the iPad. I think it's worth mentioning that this works with the Keyboard dock attached at the same time.

  • Cool. I have a Blue Snowball mic and the iPad and Camera Connection kit. It works wonderfully. I might be using this to record podcasts since there's no sound coming from the iPad.

  • @DetroitBORG thanks for the reply. Hopefully this will work with the new iPad (i'm assuming it will have a camera).

  • nice secret! Does this work the iPhone as well?

  • @TheTechNerdShow No, the camera connection kit doesn't work with the iPhone. However, you can connect the aux cable from the mic to the iPhone 4 and use it that way, works great!

  • you almost sound like chillafrilla.

  • @cmarcacYT I've heard that a few times...I always sound like somebody ;).

  • Can the usb mic work with studio track?

  • @Drumfreaksoda Yes, either through USB or the aux input.

  • @DetroitBORG it does have tap to focus

  • @TheAppleReviewGuy No, it doesn't have tap to Focus, there is no autofocusing. It does have tap to change the exposure level of the scene, which you can also use on the iPhone 4's Facetime Camera.

  • @DetroitBORG it will be used as a camcorder.

  • @DetroitBORG I ordered the new iPod touch 4 over a flip. Do you think that was a mistake? I chose it cause I can change focus.

  • @TheAppleReviewGuy I don't know, but the biggest benefit of the iPhone 4 over the FlipHD was the auto-focusing and that is absent from the iPod Touch. Otherwise, performance should be very similar but I'll have to test it.

  • I think I might get the yeti. Do you know if it works with Mac Pros? It's USB but I dont know if it's windows

  • @TheAppleReviewGuy Oh yes, in-fact Apple sells this in their stores.

  • Fantastic review!

  • i feel stupid, i never knew the ipad had a bulit in mic

  • I am going to buy a USB mic now, much better sound quality thanks.

  • @earlbee31 Indeed, it makes a huge difference.

  • also works with the AT2020 USB mic but unlike my computer you can also do headphone monitoring (w/VC Audio Pro app) with zero latency. Yes I said Zero.

  • Does this work with a USB flash drive?

  • @renyu05 Yes!

  • @DetroitBORG Wow! Can you make a demo video? :D

  • @renyu05 I already have on my channel. I'll send you a PM.

  • My iPad has a mic built in....

  • @atomhacker Yes, they all do. I have a demonstration of in this video.

  • @detroitBORG lmfao yea bet u could make some money by the way thnks for the great vids ;)

  • @skrbicdu Sadly, no. But the mic will work with an iPhone and iPod touch if you use the line-out on the Mic instead of the USB.

  • Excellent

  • Love your videos, but let's agree that you are comparing apples to oranges. The USB mic is a high end one.. and the internal one, such as the one on the headphones aren't high end. So that explains the better quality on the USB mic...

  • @0702029 The test wasn't meant to disparage the built in Apple options, just to show you the flexibility of the mic inputs and how far you can push it on the iPad. I think it's pretty exciting that you can use a high-end audio equipment on the iPad.

  • @DetroitBORG Next step is to figure out how to connect a mic boom!

Pretty sure one day, someone will figure out a way to do so !

But I do get your point.

  • @DetroitBORG What is that black mat that you use made out of? And where did you buy it? Thanks.

  • @mmarandola3 HandStands Super Mouse Pad. I bought two of them on Amazon for about $9. They line my ginormous keyboard tray.

  • 50 songs is about 500mb, 15 books is about 20mb I think, apps are about 1-300mb each and movies are about 1-1.5gb each

  • is 16gb enough for like 50 songs, 15 books, 100+ apps, 5 movies?????????

  • is 16gb enough for like 50 songs, 15 books, 100+ apps, 5 movies?????????

  • is 16gb enough for like 50 songs, 15 books, 100+ apps, 5 movies?????????

  • @ihelpable yes

  • @kidicey haha thanks :)

  • @ihelpable you are so welcome 16gb can hole like i think 5000+ songs give or take a few im not really sure i have a 64gb 3g and well lets just say i have alot lot of stuff and i have only used 9gbs lol

  • Great way of showing the difference between the options you have. Keep it up!

  • how did you get facebook for the ipad? i cant find a facebook app!

  • @emmajonesblog It's just the iPhone app. Inexplicable, there is no Facebook app for the iPad. But I guess we can assume they want us to use the Full webpage on the iPad instead.

  • Hey detroitBorg could u make a video of u just saying "hey this is detroitborg" cuz its so fun to hear for some reason lol

  • @Pacoliciouss I think I have just as many people who can't stand that intro. I should really sell it and say "DeeeEEEEetroit Borg", that's how we say it in D-Town ;).

  • @AZ100x Yes, and it makes the CCK even more valuable.

  • @skrbicdu Sadly no, the CCK doesn't do anything on the iPhones/iPods.

  • cool tip !

    thanks :)

  • thats a nice tip!

  • I heard iWork is coming to the iPhone, is it true?

  • @MrBrianBusy Yes, I'm not sure when we'll see it but I'm surprised it's not hear yet.

  • Seems like a good setup for recording audiobooks, no background noise of a spinning hard drive to mess up your recording.

  • @johnmonk66 True, if the Yeti Mic is on my desk with my iMac when I'm recording, you can hear the vibration in the soundtrack. Amazingly senstivie equipment.

  • you have a great speaking voice.

  • @errezse Thanks, I don't hear that too often ;)

  • hey man great video!! i love your vids. can you try this with a web cam. idk i always thought of this but nevver really thought much of it. maybe someone can make a app so the ipad can finally have a webcam! hahah

  • @ENEMAOFTH3STATE I've tried my Logitech WebCam thinking that I might be able to get some audio, but unfortunately it doesn't work. I know the video won't work because the iPad can't supply enough power over USB and iPad doesn't support the drivers needed.

  • Hi, DetroitBORG! I am planning to buy an iPad. I know you are an experienced iPad user, which capacity of the RAM of iPad do you recommend me to buy? I think I will mostly use it for surfing the Internet, iWork and other conveniences. I am not a big fan of the games, and I don't think I will watch videos on iPad very often. Thank you!

  • @magicpandora they all come with 256MB of RAM

  • @dagamelord Sorry, I mean the flash storage, i.e. 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB.

  • @magicpandora surfing internet and watching videos requires no gigabytes, iwork wont take up much though depends on how many documents you plan and working with, 16gb is more than enough.

  • @FXKrait thanks!

  • @magicpandora Unless you plan to sync vidoes, music, or photos to your iPad, then you can easily get away with the 16GB version. The apps don't take up much space. I typically recommend the 32GB since I think it's just right for most people worried about the limits of 16GB but don't want to spend big bucks to get 64GB.

  • @DetroitBORG got it! Thanks!

  • omg your vidz are my drug..

  • @DachysAppReview LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL~

  • @DachysAppReview Ha! Thanks ;)

  • Once again, a very informative video which is also always relative to my interests. Thanks.

  • @elliot0712 I'm surprised I couldn't find a single video on this topic yet, but I have read so much about it.

  • I wish the camera connection kit worked on the iPhone too.

  • @DerekZimmer Agreed!

  • what app did you use?

  • @rednes800 "AudioMemos" for the iPad. The Free version.

  • wow it works great with both channels. The internal mic only records in one channel.

  • It sounds much better.

  • Awesome video.

  • Awesome tip !!

  • good product variation
