On a recent 3 week riding vacation where we rode almost every large climb in Italy and France (34,747 meters or 114,000' of climbing over 2 1/2 weeks) we capped the trip by riding all 3 Ascents of Mt Ventoux in one day. 84 miles and 4,596 meters in 7 hours 10 minutes. Our first climb to the summit began in Bedouin, then we climbed to the summit from Malauecene and finished it off with the climb to the summit from Sault. We joined a select group of riders in "Club des Cinglés du Mont-Ventoux."
Sounds like a good trip. My son and I rode the Cingles in August, took a bit longer than you, but a great way to 'do' the Ventoux. We chose the same order as you - seemed the best approach
Did the Mont Ventoux upand down in the early '90's: I think it was something like 1hr30 going up and 21 minutes coming down (topped out at 100kph). I certainly don't remember this much traffic though (good thing because we were using both sides of the road at times coming down (ahem ... NOT recommended!)).
i parked my car outside bedouin and ran to the sumit and then back to my car on the 16-8-2009. i think the climb is easier on foot than on a bike. the run down was very tough. it took 4h 19m in total and was upto 36 degrees. take plenty to drink and have fun
Love that mountain... the descents to Malaucène and Sault are bread and butter, the Bédouin one is one of the greatest delights in cycling. I took it a bit more slowly than this, to make the pleasure last longer. Cup of coffee at Chalet-Réynard, Café Liègois down in Bédouin, 50 clicks recovery trip back to Orange. What a day... I'll be back.
Unreal! We went down the other side, and what a blast it was! We were all like big kids at the bottom - "How fast?!" "Whaddya get!?" I was ecstatic with my filling-loosening 85 kph, but many were faster, and Phil Anderson (who ran our never-to-be-forgotten trip) overtook us as if on a motorcycle...
Thanks. It is an inspirational place to ride

My wife and I rode up from Maucelene last year (we were 67/68 then) and rode down this very road to Bedouin on our way back to Beames de Venise.
Good memories but we were wearing rather more clothes it was a cool ride down in early June.
