  • my favorite band =]

  • please come from japan!!

  • this is so fun to play

  • splendida:)

  • the worst music video I've ever seen, but one of the best songs ever!

  • If Vanhala is allowed to write for Insomnium, it will turn to shit. At least if he keeps writing like he does on here. This doesn't have any riffs this is all keyboards.

  • @sugessad Vanhala has a great sense of melody. Will be interesting to see how he'll contribute to Insomnium.

  • I feel huge, non-sexual man-love towards Markus Vanhala.

  • Nyt heti keikalle Sam's pubiin!

  • whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... EPIC....

  • Insomnium Gatherum... Best thing that ever happened to me this year :) \m/

  • what happens with Markus Vanhala? is he staying with OG and Insomnium or is he actually departing OG?

  • @MrThunderx91 He's still staying with OG.

  • Im really sorry for taking your guitarist..

  • finnish power lml

  • awesome stuff :)

can't waot to see them @ neckbreakers ball tour at halloween :D

  • beautiful! such raw emotion, the whole album has become one of my all time favourites, and there are only a half a dozen on that list

  • One of the best gigs i have ever seen, even it was raining second day straight and there was only about 50 people.Fucking awesome! \,,/ And i have seen Children of bodom,Sentenced,Stratovarius etc. live.

  • his vocals are amazing

  • I've been listening to Melodeath since the late 90s; I've never heard a band combine such brutally-low vocals with a soaring-melody. Haunting and strangely beautiful.

  • @Modey3 I don't know if you've heard of Insomnium, but you've got to give them a listen. IMO better then Omnium Gatherum

  • @dimaman15 Insomnium are great, but I don't think they can hold a candle to this album. New World Shadows is unlike any other melodeath album. I was rather disappointed by Insomnium's latest release. It felt stale. They didn't try anything new; nothing ventured, nothing gained. Omnium Gatherum tried something new this time, and it worked--really, really well.

I'd grown pretty tired of melodic death metal until I heard this. Simply because it all sounded like, well, Insomnium.

  • @BarbaricGoose upon hearing Insomnium's latest album i thought it was their most diverse album to date. and with songs like "lay the ghost to rest" and the title track i'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you. i'm going to have to disagree with your statement that MDM all sounds like Insomnium. IMO they have one of the most unique sounds in the genre. Their knack for creating beautiful MDM tracks with hints of Doom metal in there. When you hear an Insomnium song, you know its them

  • @dimaman15 Insomnium rip their sound from Garden of Shadows and Autumn Leaves, both of which were around long (and I mean long) before Insomnium

  • @melodeathmatt It is impossible to be original in music anymore. Your comment could be said about OG and Noumena since they are similar to Insomnium. The fact that they remind you of earlier bands does not draw away from the fact that Insomnium is extremely talented and it would be immensely stupid to just say they don't work at their craft and just rip off other bands.

  • @dimaman15 Well, I never said Insomnium were not talented. Far from it. One for Sorrow and New World Shadows are two excellent albums. And as for the ripping off of others sound...well I'm not gonna draw myself into an argument I never wanted, but listen. Some aspects are remarkably similar, as are Omnium's Gatherum's to those bands I mentioned.

  • @melodeathmatt Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as a jerk. It seemed as though you were just trying to discredit bands like Insomnium.

  • @BarbaricGoose How didn't they try anything new? They incorporated clean vocals as a secondary rather then just a hinting like Across the Dark. They also told an entire tale of emotion thru the cd. And to say they all sound like Insomnium, that's honestly one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. I'm not assaulting you, just discussing. Bands like Kalmah and Be'Lakor really don't share any of the qualities of Insomnium. Same with In Flames and Naildown, the really don't even fit.

  • @dimaman15

They are good to. Omnium Gatherum is also a change of pace from In Flames, Dark Tranquility, CoB, and the slew of metacore bands that sound like Soilwork.

  • That melody in the chorus makes me cry. It's just... so perfect.

  • @alexx0710

    :)) do not smoke :)

  • Great stuff.... But damn, the singer should always have a mic when he's screaming lol

  • this song gives meaning to my life i play it upside down on bass!!! lefty flip!!!

  • emmersive. beautiful. melancholic. layered. passionate. unique. METAL. awe inspiring..

a few words that this band brings to my mind everytime I listen to them..

  • @parkerbob99 totally. I find that I have to listen to this album at least once a day. It's like a drug that I'm glad I'm completely addicted to.

  • Who disliked this? Fucking turds.

  • One of the best metalsongs I've heard in 2011 sofar. Great shit!

  • Man I was right about this new album. I knew after hearing this single before it was released and it turned out to be the best Omnium Gatherum CD yet. Jukka went from yelling and barking vocals to full time Death Metal growls. Great clean singing too, lyrics are creative, and they've went towards more of an epic progressive sound in songs like Everfields and Deep Cold.

New World Shadows is with out a doubt one of the best modern melodic death metal albums in a long time. It's just fantastic.

  • I'm hearing a lot of SepticFlesh in those vocals. I like that a lot and the surrounding music is multidimensional instead of flat sounding. Great stuff.

  • These guys can become the new DT if they do their best!

  • @vincentjurg Omnium is not really a progressive metal band... I think it's melodic death metal, and it's so nice <3

  • born of osiris's discovery is my favorite album ever. combines so many aspects of metal. so nice to listen too

  • beautiful song

  • "New World Shadows" is a great album - but no one's ever going to top Insomniums' "Above the Weeping World". (:

  • Omnium & Insomnium, forget the rest!

  • The vocalist sounds like the guy from SepticFlesh. I like this band!

  • Love this new style of melodeath. Sounds like Be'lakor ^^

  • @kireek666 The vocalists sound a bit alike, but that's pretty much it when we go "below the surface". Nevertheless, both bands kick ass.

  • @Blissel Cheers man for introducing these man they are sweet opened up a complete level of music! Cheers!

  • Listening to this song gives the illusion of flying.

  • Are Finnish metal bands required to have one or more bald band member? Great band, been hooked on this album lately. Top-notch.

  • I saw them today live, amazing show !!!

  • I love how they combine the melodic death influence with pictures of nature on every album, every videoclip. So exquisite

  • Great song, awesome videoclip!

  • This song brings me to tears. Haven't heard so much emotion in a metal song in a longggg time. This is true music folks.

  • @Digimortal725 if this made you cry, insomnium will have you weeping hahaha

  • sound's like Be'lakor..a lot

  • we have to promote og, this band needs more fans, THIS BAND DESERVES MORE FANS, we have to mention it inevery death metal video as a fucking undescribable band, if not this band is going to continue being underrated, and we don't want that, we don't fucking want that, thumb up this comment so everyone can see it, if you agree with me

  • @MrMig3

no point, more and more metal fans are giving into fads and generic bullshit.

  • @taxi911 i totally agree, but omnium gatherum in my opinion is a way to bring them back, and promote to the true, metal fans, i know deeathcore has been overshadowing metal and everyone thinks metal and deathcore is the same, well i say lets show them how different they are

  • @MrMig3

It's not just the Deathcore plague, it's also stuff within the current actual Metal communities. Melodic Death Metal, Power Metal, Death Metal, Brutal/Technical Death Metal, Black Metal, Viking Metal, Folk Metal, you name it. So many generic bands pop out and you can clearly tell but more and more people are shifting to simpler music where they don't have to use their brains to comprehend the stuff, and they are switching to the Pop formula of only listening to the more catchier tunes.

  • @taxi911 so your saying that melodic death metal and the other sub-genres are actually generic and are using the pop formula? OG is actually melodic death metal FYI

  • @MrMig3

not once have I used OG's name in the sentence above. What I am saying is that many bands in those genres are uber generic and use pop formulas, there are tons of bands in actual Metal sub-genres that do absolutely nothing that can set them apart, and Thank God OG isn't one of those generic garbage shit-pieces. Go to Oabbasi, xSwampKalmah or xJackthepsychokiller's channel, post new bands, listen to them all and you'll be surprised at the generic repetitions. Only 25% or so stand out.

  • @taxi911 my god finally someone that understands the bad route music of today is taking

  • @MrTruemetal1

    Sarcasm or serious? :-p

If you're a maniac who's always on the hunt for something new & have been through a fuck load of bands (+5000 in my case), then you will easily be able to tell. 30 to 60secs into a song, and voila. Also, you will start seeing that the plague of bad routes extends beyond music into the realms of appearance & fads, repeating patterns and what not. It will strip you off of your ability to fully enjoy all music, but will give you a new sense, urge, and feel.

  • @taxi911 That is very true. Metal is becoming very generic these days. There are far too many melodeath bands out there trying to sound exactly like CoB or power metal trying to be Sonata Arctica. I do enjoy a few of those bands from time to time though. Not every band needs to be ground breaking and doing completely new things all the time. Luckily though, Omnium Gatherum are very unique. New World Shadows is my favourite metal album so far of 2011.

  • we have to promote og, this band needs more fans, THIS BAND DESERVES MORE FANS, we have to mention it inevery death metal video as a fucking undescribable band, if not this band is going to continue being underrated, and we don't want that, we don't fucking want that

  • :D one of my favourite new bands. Beautiful :)

  • Que grandes, impresionante disco darán muchísimo que hablar

  • hell yeah...

  • This song is shaping a whole chapter of my life.

A lot of people unfamiliar with melo-death style music see it as loud, violent and despressing. They don't get it.

This is powerful and triumphant and the breakdown at 3:30 is magical.

I love the new scene growing - Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum, Karlahan, Equilibrium.

  • @asherpatience I can relate to every word you just said.

  • @asherpatience im nming it the insomnium gatherum legacy, which is the movemment of the bands with the finnish melodic death metal style, even folk metal bands, as long as they have finnish melodic death metal style or influence on them

  • if u are a melodeath fun thumbs uo...let the melodeath flow into our hearts

  • @BrutalRussianBear I was pretty fed up with Melodeath ... until I heard this Album.

  • @PhlegethonianStream i guess melodeath artists like omnium gatherum are somethin' else . Aren't they?

  • THIS

  • that guitar lick in the chorus can only be described as GENIUS!

  • Somewhat remindes me Dark Tranquility.

  • Ive had all their demos and cds!!! But my opinion is that their best singer was Olli Lappalainen!!! Their 1st singer!!! They are from same region as i!!! So we have met so many times in different ways...

  • THE ALBUM IS WAWAWEEEWAAA!!!

  • what is this logo?

  • what a great song \m/

  • The song is amazing, the album is incredible. I just started listening to this band and I am digging them. But what the hell is up with the video? That was the biggest pile of homosexual trash I have ever seen. Why is the lead singer such a sad sally? Somebody give that dude a hug.

  • Omnium Gatherum proofs that good metal not always has to be fast riffs and deathscreams, Not so fast like REDSHIFT but this album, they schould be proud of, I like it alot ! Come to Holland again, last time you guys were great !

  • @bruticus1965

id say this is their best album to date...

  • Jussi Rautaniemi....u did a great job man on makign this video for this sweet fucking band...love you

  • O.M.G. This band is fucking awesome!!!! Great great great Finnish music!! You mates surely know how to produce melodic Death!!! Hail to you from Greece, mates!!! Cheers!!!

  • finnish melodeath nice ;) really like this stuff

  • Yeah

  • This songs sounds pretty proggy, nevertheless, it feels great!

  • Very strong album.

  • amazing.

  • Karhula maailmankartalle!

  • Damn that was a great song, beautiful, very melodic. Very original too, "Soul Journeys" reminds me of the glory and early days of melodeath. (In Flames's Jester Race, Whoracle, DT's Minds I, Exhumation's Seas of Eternal Silence.)

Wouldn't surprise me if this new album was the best OmG had to offer, definitely a improvement on Jukka Pelkonen's part.

  • @mcjacobs2488 what about at the gates? slaughter of the soul?

  • @mcjacobs2488 I really have a feeling this is OMG Best cd as well!!

  • I haven't faced 1 finnish melodeath band I've liked

  • Video doesnt fit the music... Next time do something in the nature or show epic landscapes....

  • @polarbear1110

Well, the song does have a Nostalgic Atmosphere to it, and the video captures that perfectly - using shots from their previous live performances, as well as Jukka right in front singing over the memories as they are being projected over him. Of course, we also have the birds, long time carriers of messages.

I don't know, that's my take on this video, but to each their own, right?

Although, at 1st, I as well was expecting something in nature.

  • very underrated band

  • Obviously 1 person needs their ears recalibrating...

  • Great!!!!!

  • This song was bloody amazing, their old stuff was great but this is ruthlessly beautiful!

    \m/ O_O \m/

  • Zero Dislikes just the way it should be ! :)

  • Greetings from Macedonia, fucking great song

Haters if you dont like it dont listen to the music and stop eating shit

  • 8000 views are mine!

  • tulee vähä mielee amoralin vanha soundi

  • really nice! it's not as catchy as "Nail" or "Into Sea" but it sounds cool =)

  • This is song is just so good!!!

  • Not bad

  • @Stitch216 Boring comment : P

  • this is epic

  • DAMN GREAT SONG!!! THAT'S OG AT IT'S FINEST!!! Makes me also think a bit of their old stuff... =) The whole new album is gonna be a millenium's masterpiece!!!

  • Fuck, J's roaring makes me shit my pants every time I hear this song. Just beautiful.

  • this new album may make OG push down Insomnium a notch as my favorite melodeath band. Hopefully I have time in the not-too-distant future to add the necessary tech to my game engine & talk to the band (and others such as Insomnium) and see if they would let me use some of their songs in my game.

you can play my ENTIRE game for free if you want (its mostly classical music now) at

    PlayRealNotes (dot) com

  • OG are the true sound of melodic death metal...

  • Don't listen to the Dumby Burger fan..everyone knows that's stupid!

  • It's the feeling of only two-week summer against few months of sunless and cold winter what is so similar in many finnish metal bands.

  • @lotsofstupidcandy you're kidding right? Epic greatness and Dimmu Bhomorgir in the same sentence, oh wow... If there is a band that is "diet" it's that mainstream black metal crap that ruined the scene.

  • @pougpoug

HAHA! I find your opinions erroneous and without validity!

  • @lotsofstupidcandy

Most people here find your stupidity erroneous and without boundaries.

Dimmu Burger is a sellout band, ridiculing Black Metal itself, with a few great epic songs admitted. I was a fan when I was 13 but I grew out. Besides nowadays they're just copying other guys & repeating the worst of their previous albums. + check out Sorgens Kammer pt. 2, time 0:45, and then check out Frozen by Dissection.

  • @Arthemesic There is nothing you can say that can reverse the fact that this band sounds as lame as Creed.

  • @lotsofstupidcandy

If something here is lame, its you.

  • @lotsofstupidcandy

MrMattock quite bagged the fact. Check out The Perfumer Garden by Omnium Gatherum and say that again. I dare you.

  • @lotsofstupidcandy

    *Perfumed xD

  • @Arthemesic are u perfumed? I think you are, u silly little flower boy.

  • @MrMattock

Hold your horses, dandelion, or I'll smithe thee down with my perfume.

  • @MrMattock

    PERKELEEEEN HYVÄ!!!

  • Wow, this sounds awesome! Can't wait for the new album, have to wait until March, damn!

  • Awesome song, want new album now and a bloodstock/ download preformance :)

  • The freaking guitar melodies in the song are outstanding! I've listened to this song probably 30 times already and it gets better with every listen..OG! OG! OG!

  • ALTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH DIE SCHEIßE HAUT RICHTIG REIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! \m/

  • AMAZING!!!

  • Is it just me or does anyone else hear some influences of Insomnium/Swallow the Sun? Well anyway, song is good and vid is great and I'm definitely going to buy the new album.

  • @IsoSokea

It's not Insomnium/Swallow The Sun influence. It's the Finnish Atmosphere's influence :-p. Most of the Finnish bands who make beautiful music share that as a mutual bond of some sort. Take Ghost Brigade, Noumena, The Man-Eating Tree, and Rapture as examples. OG just took that route as well (although, I doubt they took it all the way), their blog confirms it too.

  • @taxi911 Exactly!!

  • I kind of had a feeling Mr.Juspem was involved in constructing this video.

The song is quite magical. It shows elements from both old school and new Omnium Gatherum.

Omnium Gatherum remains progressive with an ever-changing song (As always).

  • FUCKING AWESOME! Gotta love finnish melodeath!

  • @Jagvillboienhatt

    haha, for sure mate.

  • can t wait until the release of the album!!

  • Comment numba #1 :) Helvetin hyvä biisi!
