Hey if my 98 grand prix gt (no supercharger) can hit 143, then this Impala should be able to do about the same or more. I had my speed limiter raised after i put performance tires with speed rating V for the summer. but tires with a speed rating V are good for 149.... All done on Michigan freeways. :)

that's one way, you can also use a chime harness or a regular harness (but you will lose all chimes) you only get the theft problems if you put a HU from another car in it.

i dont want to sound like im bashing on you, but common just look at the numbers, 200 horsepower stock at the crank, thats probly 160 at the wheels. if you got a gps that shows mph then record that then i'd be more willing to believe. but that would prove a moot point. anyway nice car though, truely i do like it. 3.8'd are some of the best american motors produced.

All I know is I set the limiter at 155 and I went on the autobahn and put the pedal to the floor i got to 120 and it was still pulling. the RPM's were still climbing and then it shutdown I can not prove that I hit 155 but I was assuming that I hit 155. It was strung out about as far as I would push it. I do understand where you are coming from. Thanks for the post.

Try getting a new cluster. They're rare but BB Engineering has some. There are ones for Monte Carlo SS and Impala SS that go all the way to 140mph. Altogether (with the programming and everything) it would cost you like $250.

Hi, but if you are a German resident you have to do several MODs to pass German technical inspection:

add white parking lights,convert rear red to amber blinkers, front tow hook, rear red fog light etc. etc.

It took me 2 months, aprox. €600 ($900) and a bunch of paperwork to get my 2004 (ex-CAN soldier) to get it licensed.

Yeah, if you are a German resident and want the car to get licensed you have to do several mods to pass German technical inspection.

But to drive such a rare car over here (maybe there a just a handfull Impalas registrated in Germany) makes fun, it's a head-turner over here.

well all it would take is a turbo to make that much hp but the question is will the engine take it? maybe. but I know the transmision has to be modified to handle any higher speeds. the oil gets too hot and then you start losing you power at the wheels because the oil is slipping because it is too thin. there is my 2 cents
