  • I always remembered shop class in high school, and someone cutting their project too thin without holding onto it. It shot across the room so hard, we all hit the deck. Good times. :)

Very interesting idea with the wood shavings. I have heard of it done before, but I've never seen it. It looks pretty effective, I'll have to try it myself.

Very good work. Sorry about your hand.

  • i would like to 0rder the bell for christmas. Is this possible

  • At 8:27 he's sanding with a handful of shavings. You'll get a nice 500 grit or so finish.

  • What are you doing at 8:27?

  • turn a matrioska..i see great work master

  • that looks like fun.

  • I use a home-made lathe and carbide chisels. I can go 100 projects without sharpening....Joe

  • I'm not quite up to hollowing out that thin just yet but i'll get there :-)

  • I just started turning as well but I think I'll try this a little later

  • Very nice.!!

    Clever jig that dust extractor-)

    Ioannis Athens Hellas

  • i didnt get it until 2:47 haha pretty imbaressing

  • bravo picio metti le mani sul tornio mentre gira e vedi che pollice ti fai

  • i turn my self some times but my tools get so blunt :( i never get them so sharp so they cut the wood so easely. how do u sharpen ur tools?? super vid 10/10!!!

  • Why do you bother making those marks with the parting tool before you start removing material to make the bell shape? just as a guide?

  • i did this in shop class yesterday

  • Very nicely done.

  • Master of the Universe!!!!

  • could've been a nice wine class... Anyways where do you put all the scrap? There seems to be more than I would've imagined? And what lathe is that?

  • There is blood on the bell,at the end?

  • do you sell these.im planing on takeing laid machines.in the winter quarter of college.hopw it will get me a job.i would love to work with wood.

  • vacuumm doesnt look like its workin very well lol.

  • It's SO weird to work with metal, and then to watch something like this. It's like he's working with butter! haha

  • you seem like you are on the smart end of the bell curve

  • I am just currious about why you rubbed the shavings on it after you were done sanding I have never seen nor heard of someone doing that before.

  • @sofiadragon1979 I rub shavings into all of my turnings aswell, it's mainly done to buff the surface after applying a finish such as wax

  • i cant make a bell but i can turn a ring from a solid piece of wood

  • Man you must get some splinters, why not wear gloves? I love you work tho.

  • @bellkxboy maybe he (or she?) doesn't have pussie skin like you, and only gets a splinter made of a bullet from a gun ! HA!

  • it adds a natural shine

  • Why do you rub it in the shavings after sanding? Does it add character, or simulate a high grit?

  • really nice man. What does holding up the wood chippings do?

  • @pdh202

lol.. you kiding with that question right? ahahaha...people are getting so crazy these days..

  • so was that bandaid on in the begining of the video?

  • The human CNC :) Very nice work...

  • Nice work......

  • -E-X-C-E-L-E-N-T-E- Te Felicito...atte:Nico....

  • large farge i have a delta mini lathe it works great with an extention general and jet are also good but stay away from grizzly

  • but why stay away from grizzly?

  • large farge look into minilathes : i suggest delta(which i have), jet or general but stay away from grizzly

  • I've been looking at some videos and i would like to start woodturning. Do you know of a good beginners lathe that's not too big or expensive? Is there some sort of website with this kind of info on it?

Your video is awesome by the way!

  • Woodturning is kind of expensive to get into. Don't skimp on the chisels or the lathes. I had a harbor freight lathe that I bought for $40 with some cheap tools, then got a Delta Midi lathe used with some really nice long handled tools for about $250.

It makes all the difference in the world. There aren't to my knowledge any "cheap" lathes worth anything.

  • harbor freight awsome place, great tools and prices,

  • 5:42 thats some good looking shavings.

Great christmas tree ornament. Did you just cut the top part off on the band saw and drill a hole?

  • Cool!! I just starded to woodturning my self.

  • cool videos man, Im doing some researching about woodturning and Im looking at this...:)

  • im interested in the ring tool you are using, how easy is it to use for deep hollowing is it ideal for goblets

  • Do you use any special jigs or a sharpening system for sharpening your tools? In your other video they seem really sharp as well. You're a great turner, I'm still learning.

  • WOW!!! this shit really turned me on.

  • Wow that would have a beautiful ring to it lol

  • What was the wood you were using?

  • It's white alder. You didn't read the info, did you?

  • no way is that as easy as he made it look!!serious tallent!!

took me an hour to make a wine glass!!

    fair play!!

  • Thanks. This is just my hobby and I'm not a professional woodturner. Nowadays I get to turn too seldom :(.

Most of the video is cut out to fit it here. It took 30-60 min. to turn this.

  • get a job as a wood turner, you have clearly got a lot of tallent.

i'm a joiner and just started turning, quite enjoyable!!

what species of timber are you using?

  • Could you give the measurements that you used for this project? Thanks--very helpful video.

  • what happened to your thumb

  • Sharp tools :)

  • Very talented! Thanks for the vid

  • what type of tools did you use for body detail

  • what does holding the wood chips against it do?

  • It should polish it.
