I really think, Hollywood script writers should go back in time and start making scripts and animation like this. I'm so sick of these days cartoons and 3D and all the noise about how real does it looks like. You can play Battlefield 3 with all the awesome graphics but when I start Super Mario I enjoy every minute spend. It's all about entertainment and joy and I don't enjoy these days like I used to.

Even though this is primitive, a bit dated, and slightly awkward; the storytelling STILL kicks ass.

One of my favorite Christmas episodes ever, and a key event episode for the series. If all of the little production difficulties were ironed out and the script was a bit smoother, this would be a masterwork. .... As it stands, it was still years ahead of its time for American TV.

This is extremely well visually plotted, from the falling pineapple cutting to the explosion, to the jump cuts of Rick saying goodbye to Minmei and suiting up and jumping into his fighter. You can tell someone was trying something very dramatic here, and it really worked. What a beautiful episode, no matter how irritating Minmei is.

One thing I never hear as a complaint from the Macross people (I'm one of them, too, funny enough) upon this show is the voice acting. I've never seen anyone with any credibility say that the voice acting on this show sucks, no matter they hate Carl Macek and Harmony Gold. :P

The point is that some of us watched Robotech when we were younger. Robotech is what we remember and what we liked.  I am not interested in watching a cartoon series that does nothing for nostalgia (nostalgia is why I'm watching Robotech). Hearing these characters voiced by other actors would be grating, too.

really the whole series is about love and how, even through terrible circumstances, it can survive. The love story of Rick and Minmei has been there the whole time and their love has always survived even despite Rick's affection for Lisa Hayes, though he is kind of an idiot when it comes to Lisa, he still loves Minmei despite everything.

one of the best anime series of all time, I just wish that I could see the original unedited version. It is so hard to tell there are so many DVDs on the market and none are complete in the sense that it is not the complete original series. It sucks.

the set of dvds with the 2005-2006 dub (a different version than the 1985 one you are watching right now) has the original version of the show on it. The second dub is closer to the original Japanese version.

@AngelSSQ I have the original Macross Saga on DVD, unedited and same as the original TV series. Best version besides the Remastered Series. Remastered is just better quality. Sometimes just seeing the original is better.
