I'm happy to see that you are moving forward with the transition, doing what you've always wanted. After the TV series, I thought it left your story on a sad note, but I'm glad you have shared your continuing story on YouTube! Welcome to the vlogging community. I'll be watching all your videos soon. Peace.
Great to see you on YouTube. I've seen the documentary series you were on. It's great your family is taking "well". I'm in Toronto and hoping to have surgery with Dr. McLean. Can you tell me what you needed in terms of psychiatric documentation for the surgery. I haven't had any therapy but I can't wait for surgery. And I've been told you have to be on T prior to surgery which doesn't make sense to me. Good luck!
McLean actually didn't require any psychiatric documentation, one of the many reasons I went with him. I just had a conversation on the phone with one of his staff who asked me some questions about myself and my identity, but nothing high-risk or too involved.
There are physical tests and documentations that he needs, but his office provides all of that in advance, as they're pretty specific.
TJ, watching you on Transgeneration was what helped me have the strength to come out as trans. Even now, I sometimes watch the episodes to help me get by. The reunion episode is available for purchase on itunes by the way!
I feel like a bit of a creep for tracking you down here on YouTube, but I was very curious about what's happened with you after TransGeneration. I'm genderqueer myself, and I really drew inspiration from you in particular when I watched the show.
I'm happy that you get to start your physical transition =]
I am so proud of you. My son is gay. To better understand the issues facing the GLBT community, I watched the Transgeneration series on Netflix. You are, just as betz202 said, "ridiculously adorable," but you are also respectful of your family while being a passionate advocate for the GLBT community. That is an amazing tightrope to walk, habibi, but you do it well. I will pray for your surgery to be successful and uneventful. God bless you!
shukran! i hope TransGeneration was what you were looking for, at least in giving you a glimpse (a mere 4 perspectives) on one of many aspects and identities of the community. thank you for watching and your kind words
I feel tremendous respect for you. You are awesome. I showed my son the series to acquaint him with a powerful young man (you) fighting for GLBT rights. God makes only beauty. No one is a mistake. You give me courage. I am a TJ fan. ;-) Shenorhagal em -and- shukran!
I wanted to listen to the whole thing but you got this buzz thing going on with the mic and my ears are ringing! Going to check out vid # 2. I'm in transition as well so we should keep in touch. My girlfriend just bought the documentary on dvd and I've seen it more times than I care to mention...peace n luv
Congratulations on starting the transition! I really enjoyed the show and watched it for about the third time just now. I've always been interested in gblt issues even though I'm straight, and when my four year old daughter told me she wanted to be a boy a few months ago, I took it in stride. It may be an phase thing or it may be a real thing, but either way watching your experience on television has helped me prepare for whatever the future may hold. Your strength is inspiring!
it is so great to hear from parents like yourself who are willing to let their children figure things out on their own terms. thank you for letting me be a part of that process for you, it is truly humbling. i wish you and your child all the best in your journey and thank you for watching!
thanks for subscribing and watching... as for being the most mature of the bunch, i don't know about that. i was just the oldest age-wise and in grad school, so just at a different place in my life.
you are ridiculously adorable, and i appreciate how your strength of character clearly shines through in all that you do. thanks for being real with us. cutie. :)
You're really, really quiet though; I had to crank my speakers waaay up just to hear you. Can you turn it up on your end at all?
I'm so glad McLean is able to take you; it must just be that he can't take American patients, rather than any non-Canadian patients. Some insurance thing. I know two people who went to him a few years ago and they both had GREAT experiences and look fantastic. A lot of Americans are really bummed that they can't go to him now.
I'm sorry about the volume issue, I tried it a million and one ways and this was the loudest I could get the audio to be. I need to keep trying different things and figure it out.
Who knew my non-American-ness would benefit me here? I'm also keeping insurance out of this completely by paying up fully and not involving them at all. It's great to hear that you know of ppl who were happy with him. Makes me even more excited!
The sound quality of this clip is terrible. I can barely hear what he's saying.

My parents also say they're scared for me/worried, but I feel like they're just using that as an excuse to justify their opposition.
