  • I hate to admit it but this destruction is better than battlefield 3's engine

  • nice slideshow

  • I'm re-installing this game just to get infinite grenades and chuck them at walls. :D

NO, RED FACTION: GUERILLA, LEAVE ME ALONE!!!

  • The Physik effects on that game rule! Rly! It's so realistic ^_^!... that's why I love this game ssoo much ^^

  • Looks much better than in bad company 2

  • Bastard blew up my car!

    :P

  • Nice explosion, too bad about the lag.

  • That's what I call a big boom.

  • lol ok heather

  • lame.

  • is this sentinels or just the original?

  • @crazymonkey246810 Its the original.

  • hehehe i rymenber cheats for Explosive darts :D, one dart destroy one budling

  • im dont see wery well cause of lagg , but what object you shoot to do this destruction?

  • It's a bunch of mines. The engine will still lag like this on a new PC too. Seems like anytime a floor or roof falls, the engine stutters, but if you say, knock out an entire wall it wont notice.

  • This engine should have been used by so many games since this came out - the games industry is STUPID!

  • @HardWarUK they shud use this game engine in men of war

  • @atyabbaig They should use this engine in a TRUE re-make of X-Com too! :)

  • @HardWarUK its a good idea right

  • @HardWarUK Did you see the performance... ?

  • @foeaxe This video is not an example of the smooth performance you get with this engine with just a medium 3 year old PC! Oh to have Diablo III, or the next Sacred or the next Divinity with a version of this engine - imangine blowing off the doors to a castle with magic!

  • @foeaxe This game was before its time. Todays computers can calculate those massive physics with ease. (I removed a house from bottom and up like in video without slowdowns on my computer and its a couple of years old)

  • @weeruz "my computer and its a couple of years old" so you should have said, computers from a couple of years ago can do this with ease? And there are better ways of simulating physics like that. Also most of the time it's just not nessecary to have that level of destruction, you can spend the CPU cycles doing something else more gameplay centric.

  • @foeaxe Yea, sure I agree. Was just meaning that a normal computer from when the game came had trouble with it. But a normal computer today does the work. :)

  • @HardWarUK Don't even get me started, it seems game dev's HATE turn based games like this, yet they are my favourite type to play on the PC, tbh if Jagged Alliance 2 was remade with Silent storm engine I would be happy, couple that with 7.62MM level of guns and detail (can see gun attachments and armour) or even fallout 2 with silent storm engine I could play these and die a happy man

  • Anyone played Faces of War? Probably better than this.

  • Yes, but they are not very comparable. Faces of war is Real Time Tactics/Strategy. Silent Storm is Turnbased Tactics/strategy

  • I suppose. I'm sorry about other comment, didn't mean to sound like that

  • By the way this game looks like mad fun i got my GF buying it for me as we speak! lol

  • i always thought that the whole point of playing a game was to escape reality and have fun... they focus to much on graphiocs and making it real...SS and Jagged Alliance are hat games are ment to be! just my thought any way!

  • In response to the posters comment in more info, nah, I think SS still holds the crown on destructible environments. Mainstream gaming is too busy getting "super rezes" and "l33t texture depthz" to worry about something like...game play.

    Thanks for posting it.

  • laggy as hell

  • Not the game's fault. His crappy PC.

  • so,your character is a sniper?

  • I used to play this game like crazy when I was smaller (wasnt too good at it but it was so awesome) and u can even shoot people thru doors and u can see the bullet holes and shit.. its pretty awesome :D

  • May I ask how you did this?

I don't know how to rig up explosives to create such a large scale of damage... At most I can use a good grenade to take a chuck out of a wall, or rig up doors..

(Also, this video made me buy the game)

  • he set up mines on all the walls and doors etc. and shot something to set it off. I FUCKING LOVE THIS GAME

  • It's not a weak system, the game just has a shitton of calculations from weight distribution and the like. It even emulates ricochets of bullets. Pretty awesome game.

  • Its good that more and more games are using destructible enviroments. :)

  • Well not more and more. This game was released in 2003 and since then haven't seen an engine handling such a destructions.

  • @Eska4ever There is a recent game : Battlefield : Bad Company 2 using very similar destruction. There are other games too , like Red Faction (1) and Red Faction:Guerilla ,also Battlefield: Bad Company.

  • yay, a slideshow, oohhh that's ur framerate...

  • it beacause of the engine not the pc, its slov on every system if u blow up so much at the same time, but its great^^

  • wat was that negative 2 Frames per sec

  • yea preaty weak system but cool vid i give 3 star

  • Heh. Blowing buildings up is damn fun in S2 :P

  • z0mg lagz!

  • Crysis, Stranglehold, Unreal Tournament 3, Silent Storm, Lost Planet, and more, more, more..
